  1. pulling him will only make the problem worse, he should associate the lead with enjoyment and get excited every time you show him it, pulling him will only make him dread the lead, try crouching down and offer a titbit/ make a fuss of him when he walks to you. it shouldn't take him long to come round, he doesn't sound that bad, could be worst, he could be a flopper downer.
  2. like i said mate everyone has their own thoughts on the subject, personally i don't believe feeding gutted and skinned rabbits is enough for a dog, its missing something, as far as i'm concerned the guts and stomach contents are beneficial to the dog, my own certainly thrive on the diet.best of luck with your pup.
  3. everyone has their own ideas mate but don't think any replys were shocking.at least you know its safe to feed your pup rabbit.
  4. i feed them whole, the way nature intended. i do freeze them first usually, but if i'm stuck i'll feed them fresh, with drontal being a pound a touch, worms ain't much to worry about. during the freeze the bedlington and ferrets were even fed eskimo style with half frozen rabbits with no bother at all.
  5. sorry for the delay mate, i'm at the mercy of the transporter.
  6. i'm taking two of these pups myself, they will make excellent all rounders, hard to believe you've any of these left Alan, noboby could fault the way you've reared them mate , pups are a picture of health.
  7. i've cured this with a change of bedding, give shredded paper a go.
  8. i've never came across them myself but have heard they are tapeworms, i wouldn't be a 100% on that though.
  9. i'ld be straight on to Fencehopper for the service of his straight half bedlington/greyhound, for a litter of 5/8greyhound 3/8 beddy,or depending you want you want it for, you could also mate her to a decent bedlington dog and do a reverse 5/8 beddy 3/8 greyhound, would make good moochers /ferreters dogs.
  10. bred a few litters of these many years ago, great little dogs, perfect for ferreting and daytime mooching, a straight half beddy/whippet for a litter of 5/8's might be the ticket over her, i'm in favour of just sticking to having 2 breeds in the mix. good luck whatever you decide.
  11. personally i always like them lean even as pups,i don't mean underweight, but i've never bought into this keeping a pup fat lark.
  12. i used these a while back, quick and cheap. https://www.payless-petproducts.com/
  13. Decky have a look through this section for info on the barf diet, for me its the best thing to feed any dog.
  14. i could never take to Ted Walsh's stuff, " the best way to excerise your dogs is to take them out along with you on your morning gallop with the horses" type advice makes me cringe, maybe its a class thing. plummer's tall tales still make me laugh and Frank Sheardown's longdogs book had me in stitches, though more for his war time exploits.....german sniper hunting, more recently Scoopy and Running dog adiction stick in my mind,i particularly enjoyed Bolio's single handed hare dogs piece.
  15. i'm with John and Iceman on this one. other things to occupy myself with during the summer.
  16. is that black my one ? two brave lumps of pups mate, fair play to you. didn't own it mate, from an old clipping from the cw years ago, use to be a f*****g anorak with all things bedlington and thought it was an usual colour at the time.
  17. not the best of pic Alan but will give you an idea of what to expect, i don't really like the liver colour but have to say this is a very attractive dog a fawn half bred pup
  18. they're looking well mate, any snaps of the other litter? i've seen liver first crosses before, think i have a couple of pics here somewhere, i'll stick them up tomorrow for you.
  19. are you working one at a time or both together ?
  20. cheers Dave, best of luck to you and yours as well.i can't complain mate, only have the wee beddy at the minute but he's turning into a decent ferreting dog and thats really all i do. i see Joe regularly, my hunting partner lives beside him, we had one of his collie lurchers out with us for the day last week. well i eventually got that bloody collar working but now it won't turn off .
  21. Cheers Dave, hows things mate ? aye , it should work, but its looking like one of those trial and error jobs.
  22. there all over the place at the minute, hopping about the ground, as Dave says your dog catches the movement and you think you've a bolter.
  23. orginally from Turf Lodge but grew up in Moyard.
  24. great set up mate they must love that Cheers mate, not the best as courts go but a lot more freedom than a hutch, plus i keep it in the dog run, so dogs are well used to them.
  25. Fair play lads, 15's a good days catch, we struggle to hit double figures on our ground. Funny you should mentioned the Robin, for some reason and i haven't a clue why, my ferreting partner considers them bad luck and hates seeing them hopping around a sett, strange the things that go through peoples heads eh. i'm orginally from the west myself, ATB Lawrence.
