  3. Congratulations mate he’s a belter bloody good size.
  4. Thanks a lot Arry I was erring on the Sulphur tuft I wasn’t aware of Brick Caps as they are not in that guide you put up a while ago they look very similar, but nice to see them pop up though we’ve never had them here before.
  5. Any one got an idea what these are they have just popped up in my front garden I’ve had a look at the mushroom guide and it’s glistening inkcap not poisonous or Sulphur tuft poisonous that look the closest they smell like an ordinary field mushroom and the gills are similar to a field mushroom.
  6. In a nutshell yep as above, look forward to a slow lingering painful death and if I’m lucky and I’m in a lot of pain they will replace the knee I’ve always said I wanted to slide into my box sideways or go out wearing a dynamite hat standing on top of Nelsons Column so it’s not the way I planned it lol...?
  7. I’ve had a lump on my knee I’ve been ignoring my wife’s been pecking my head to get it looked at my experience with the NHS is this, I rang up Tuesday was told to ring a 7am Wednesday morning which I did the doctor then rang me at 08:20 he couldn’t deal with it over the phone I got an appointment at 09:50 cut a long story short I get an emergency scan at 09:15 at the hospital on Thursday, by 08:30 on the Friday I’ve been told I’ve got osteoarthritis in my knee and told what I’ve got do. Considering we are in a pandemic I thought that was pretty good going maybe it’s because I haven’t had
  8. Because it’s good for your mental well being lol....
  9. @kenj It can be hit and miss with the natural yeast a chap who I’ve known for thirty odd years who runs an online brew shop said why risk all the hard work with the yeast he says it only takes one nasty yeast amongst the many different ones on the apples to mess it all up so he always recommends the Harris yeast which I’ve always reached good results with. The combination of apples sounds like the makings of a good dry cider. I go shooting myself and am always on the forage I have made many wines rose hip is an interesting one but I am not patient enough to wait a year plus to dri
  10. Here’s a couple of pics from a previous seasons endeavours the dark looking bottles are Perry.
  11. Hi Ken I do use the natural yeasts and I am on the batch I’ve got on the go now but it seems to be going really slowly which is meant to be a good thing a long slow cold fermentation is good for cider, but if any time during the process you think it’s not working or you want a more guaranteed result use Harris Cider yeast I’ve used it several times and it works more or less 100%. If you leave it too long and it doesn’t work you could end up with gallons of Cider vinegar great if your a chef but heartbreaking if you like drinking natural cider. Heres a link for the yeast. https://www.
  12. I use something like this in the link very cheap last for ages and easily washable or you can just use curtain netting.. My tree shredder you see in the pics £30 on gumtree I only use for cider it’s never seen a tree and after use I clean it and wipe all metal parts with olive oil other wise the acid from the apples will eat it and turn it black. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/193691335527
  13. Nice little Blog Ken the most natural way of doing it I remember one season I made about 12 gallon on my own from cutting to pressing to cleaning up after, hard work on your own.
  14. I make Cider myself most seasons here’s my little production line simply cut in to quarters pulp through tree shredder then press through my trusty Vigo press, and then ferment naturally after that lock down in airtight demijohns or barrels and rack off every 5 weeks or so and then ready to drink April time or first Cuckoo ?
  15. Bowood house I run a 10k in there I remember it we’ll because you start off running down hill and I thought to myself this is going to hurt in a bit because it’s going to go up it did steep. Its all part of Cancer Researches run a 10k in a stately home much nicer than plodding the streets.
  16. I couldn’t justify £400 for a smock for what I do a lot of these fancy smocks and clothing live off there names I’ve got a Belstaff Trial master jacket I bought it because Charley Boorman was wearing it on Long Way Down I thought I’d look cool on my motorbike I even got the same colour Antique Gold how shallow am I lol I hate it it’s sits in my wardrobe doing nothing, much prefer my Barbour Endurance best coat I’ve ever owned never been cold or wet in it and it’s been well tested.
  17. You just need shorter arms mate will save you a fortune in the pub as well lol, sounds like one of those top tips you get on Viz ?. No seriously it will be good to hear how it is I just bought the hunting trousers and the matching jacket from Decathlon you can’t beat them on price, the jackets even got a game pocket in the back of it if I get a couple of seasons out of them I will be pleased I got fed up with looking like I’d just fallen out of an Army surplus store camo seems to attract attention rather than keep you hidden.
  18. I’ve got one of those Montane extreme smocks that unzip at the sides but man they are hot I climbed Pen y Fan in mine half way up it was off I was sweating me nads off in a -5 wind, great for laying in a ditch but for moving about in too bloody hot.
  19. I must admit it’s timeless every now and then I just have to listen to it and the bit at the end I drive my wife mad with lol?
  20. They look really nice mate lovely colours that’s a good shout drying them and grinding because you do end up with a lot all at once, I tend to freeze mine as well, do you get your seeds from the chilli pepper company they have all these types and very reasonably priced as well. https://www.chileseeds.co.uk/
  21. Lovely looking Hounds a credit to the Huntsman and Kennel man.
  22. I’ve got a Dean forge Stove Wide 5 and it hasn’t got one there British made on Dartmoor wouldn't mind one with a cooking plate Steak looks good.
  23. A friend of mine lives in the Cape and some of the pictures and videos he sends me are amazing he has hunted Cape Buffalo a few times and says he can be out four days or so tracking them very dangerous animals of which he is more than aware of the risks, his trophy room is very impressive. When I send him pics of what we shoot to be honest it feels a bit embarrassing, I would love it if we could hunt larger game more freely Wild Boar being the best example I suppose. But on the story of the hunter being hunted it’s tough shit he just met a bigger hunter on the day and of course if yo
