  1. where do you get the bar with the thread on? threded bar at most iron mongers, or use a heavy nut and bolt.
  2. looks like the sun is going to shine on you this year. good little show this
  3. i would of took the vets advice and pts. there and then. but its your call and you have to go with what you feel is right for your dog. not an easy choice either way . atb
  4. remember to tell the old boy he is full of shit before you pick his brains. . young uns today,
  5. saw this old girl on a farm ive been working on. i used to own terriers like this decades ago. so had to take a pic not many like her around now
  6. easy made. a strong nut and bolt and a strong bit of tubing. and get a welder to fix em. use leather or rubber washer so its easy to free. and to set the handle in the right angle
  7. great to see some working dogs are part of the family. what a great life they have. best of both worlds.
  8. i was on my way to work this morning and saw a fella with a walking stick. its a long country rd so i stopped and asked him why he was walking it this early. he told me his money had beed stopped and he couldnt afford the bus fare. so had to walk ten miles to get it sorted.(fcuk me he could hardly stand up straight never mind walk . anyway i took him where he was going. poor bugger must have thanked me a hundred times. cost me nothing but helped the poor fella.hope he got his money sorted. its an ill divided world we live in.
  9. not a chance. get a digger in and pull the tree up. see where the roots are running.. in case they have opened the rock. bravado is easy.as its the dog that risks all. it would be interesting to find the dogs owner and find out the curcumstances. but i for one wouldnt ignore something like that. no way hozay
  10. a few folk may disagree but if you want some good glass at low cost look at the sony alpha camera's . as you can use the older minolta lenses on them. and pick up some good lenses for buttons.
  11. i have to say i like the nikons. but a lot of the talk is about the camera or the lens. when i reckon the most important thing is the man/woman. that is working them.
  12. wanna sell that lens matty . some good clear shots nice ...
  13. i had that camera. it is a decent first camera. the best i found for a first dslr was the nikon d3000. can be bought for coppers now. i also liked the canon 350d. . any of the nikon d3000 series are good entry level camera,s . stick a good lens on them and your in with a shout edited to add they have lots of idiot modes for us oldies. untill you grasp some of the techy stuff. (phil)
  14. thats how they used to be made before they started calling them potato and meat pies.
  15. there are no shortage of plummer pups. there is however a shortage of plummers bred for working below ground. if its rats and rabbits. ferreting bushing your into then the plummer is worth a look. they really are hard to better for this. but if earthwork is crucial then i would look to dogs bred by lads that do this week in week out. otherwise you may be disappointed unless you can find plummers bred with this in mind . its worth remembering that whatever you choose if the dog is to be used rarely for earthwork. it may be even more important to you that it is capable of this task.
  16. i think somrthings got lost in translation. i feel the bar is set to high when good working terriers are culled simply becouse it yaps a few times whilst getting upto its fox. or maybe becouse the owner cant read a dogs working habits correctly. dogs barking in empty earths are a different thing altogether
  17. yes it does cater for the begginer gnash. and i agree that there is more than enough experience on here to learn what you need and beyond. its a great hobby and draws you in. and remember most dslr camera,s have numerous auto and semi auto point and shoot modes so are as easy to use as a compact. they just have the advantage of taking things a little further technically or artistically. if you feel you would like to. . i would advise anyone interested to give it a go
  18. I had a terrier that yapped whilst travelling . it was only on a positive mark yap yap yap. all the while he was running. but once upto his fox it got a little more urgent and business like. its not that annoying ffs. he was short lived for other reasons but i would have been happy to keep him as he had a nose like a beagle and done his job. only a fool would confuse this with false marking. 1 dog bays fox home. result. 2 dog barks no fox. false mark. as long as a dog does his job who cares what folk think. you just need to learn your dog and sometimes they have there little quirks. same as u
  19. you will get a decent DSLR. for that price. nikon or canon seem to be the favourites. check out google for best price. on new kit. or ebay if your looking to go second hand. or gumtree. there are some crackin bargains on dslr just now .new and second hand. if your relatively new to this look for an entry level dslr. just remember it gets addictive. ps try youtube for info on buying your first dslr.
  20. whats your budget jcm. that will help folk advise you
  21. boys grow up tough if you name them Sue
  22. things in life dont make you tough. folk are either born that way or they arnt. its the things that happen to you in life that can make it show. if you arnt born that way it will also show up in a different manner.
