  1. the same sort of fools are still plentifull today buster. no doubt todays standards will be measured on there dvd clips. in the years to come. allthough i will conceed there are still some very good terriers about
  2. what a load of bollocks. mute dogs where nigh on useless. and rarely lasted long. and the only reason they are tolerated today is the fact that they can be found fast and then got to before they expire. and thinking back to when terrier work was an art form is not fantasizing its remembering the good times had with good company and good dogs. and when i was younger it was the same as today one dog in then locate it and dig it out. the only difference i see is it was harder to find the terrier so a little more was needed from man and dog.and a good voice being one of the main requirements. it w
  3. good post i have an old tornado lieing around somewhere will have to dig it out.
  4. nah mate no offers, sorry no probs good luck with the sale

  6. i'll give you a hundred for it and you wont have far to drop it off
  7. Ozzy my first cross wheaten whippet
  8. aint much between em a good bull cross will be better than an average wheaten cross and vice versa all i will say is if you get a lurcher that is well bred on the wheaten side and it is allowed to mature and entered properly it will be very hard to find better. with any cross. ive seen most including bull crosses . and i'll stick with my wheaten cross
  9. if you feel both dog and bitch are sound. then i see no reason why not mate. ive bred brother to sister and sire to daughter. with only good results. although i never went any further down the road. your dogs your choice. good luck whatever you use
  10. i work a plummer and it does exell in cover. a tireless worker. the best is an oc bred bitch and big for a plummer. but first rate
  11. there are some good working dogs bred from kc stock. ive seen a little fox terrier bitch working to ground. ive owned a parson that worked ten seasons with me. ive seen kc borders working well. the problem being they are generally the exeption rather than the rule. so as producers they are none starters. one of the hardest terriers i saw was a little pet bred russell. a really ugly little dog. but what a worker. ended up to hard . this dog worked with the gun and retrieved feather live and unharmed. same thing aplies.allmost imposible to produce from. worker to worker for me or i would try a
  12. f**k sake thats hard to watch. that fella needs a few lads to help him out. someone knows where he lives. and theres a name been put up. i cant believe they are getting away with that
  13. well i no its true or i wouldnt say it would i??? im not talking about your average dog here im talking about getting the best of the best to run on out of a litter ive seen loads of terriers do this and become excellent workers how many times do i have to say it! proper terriers are born to it and its there from an early age if your clever enough to see it. i once had a fox in a trap and was passing the pig shed where my dogs were so i called in to check on them. anyway i was cleaning the pups that were now 10 weeks old and i accidently stood on a dog pups toe and the poor little fella was go
  14. there is every chance that entering prematurely could ruin your pup. so if your of a mind to do so go for it. but bare in mind waiting and entering your terrier properly will give it every chance to become a good terrier. the quicker they start the better they become is nonesense. some of the very best workers mature slowly. so i'd say keep the little bugger under your arm and only let it go if your content to waste it
  15. WELL FELLA , DECENT TERRIER MEN NEVER DOUBLED UP............ THEN OR NOW ........................ AND ..... IVE SEEN SUCH MEN TACKLE EARTHES WHICH MANY LADS TODAY WOULD DEEM UNDIGGABLE WITH A LOCATOR !! WHAT ELSE ? .......... WELL........ THERES AS MANY GOOD TERRIERMEN NOW AS THEY WERE THEN ..... AND AS MANY IDIOTS ! THE LOCATOR IS A DOUBLE EDGED SWORD ........... ITS ALLOWED DOGS WHICH ARE MUTE AND TOO HARD FOR THEIR OWN GOOD TO CARRY ON WORKING AND BEING BRED FROM ............ I KNOW MANY WHO DIG TO SUCH DOGS IN SMALLER , SHALLOW EARTHES , THEY NOTCH UP THE TALLY
  16. keeps i like the tussell type.. and allways have liked bear two fine terriers. to me the pups produced from a crossbred mating are often the end product. ( a working terrier) and if it works to the standard that is needed by the breeder then its job done to some folk there is more to it. and thats when it gets more difficult. lets face it if you are just looking for a worker you can just breed worker to worker and you have a good chance of breeding one. but if you want to breed a specific type of terrier and you want it to have good comformation and also want it to produce the same onsis
  17. Obviously lost on you! hope whatever one got the nod done you proud. allthough i like a russell so thats the one i would of lifted
  18. muzzle size in my opinion is only really relevent if you are breeding dogs that will need to take punishment. a stronger muzzle will be able to takee more . and a good stronge bite is of utmost importance in a terrier. however there is no need for big bully heads on any terrier. and the strongest bite doesnt always come frome the biggest jaw stormyboy i bet your on about Ace AMADORE i could find space for a plummer like Tuco.
  19. and some like to watch for inexperience.and then jump on it. makes them feel superior

  21. howlbeck piper was a gassy dog. pebbles was his sister and both produced some really good terriers both work and looks wise my trusty was out of piper and a decent dog hard to fault at work and although rarely shown gained a cc. however he had a wicked temperement. there is a dog not far from me with two lines to trusty /piper. again he has a wicked side and is a big dog. as a matter of interest every pup in the litter from piper. five in all. worked to ground not a bad result trusty produced one or two good dogs and one or two not so good. if you can find these lines. they are worth a look
