  1. A large proportion of racing salukis have greyhound blood, the greyhound is the ultimate racing machine so it's only sensible, the Spanish also use it to breed racing Galgos. It's not popular in coursing dogs but horses for courses.
  2. I expect they call them the local term for sight hound be that greyhound saluki, galgo or whatever it amounts to the same thing.
  3. I expect it still is is in the mountains of its homelands as is the closely related Tazi.

  5. I see a young lad proud of his young hound, then looking beyond the initial glance I see a leggy sapling with plenty of bone in its feet. ? A saluki, galgo mix.
  6. See a lot of stuff sold as having Spanish blood. A nice litter advertised as sired by a dog from Madrid.
  7. Not many run pure salukis these days, around the world they have been usurped by the hybrid. They are still held in esteem for their look and history but most now are status symbols or show dogs. Across their previous ranges the hybrids have taken over for those who predominantly work their dogs. A modern North African type.
  8. Hooefully as it so young it should come fine. Growth plates intact ? if it has a tiny imbalance it will grow into it and adapt to it so it will just be as it was born that way and evolve its biomechanics to suit its body.
  9. No a fella imported a smooth dog and a rough bitch pup from two different breeders. The one pictured isn't one of them.
  10. Sudocream and a muzzle once dry after washing. Good if they settle overnight as it seems to settle better. Some seem prone to it and it's difficult once it starts to erode the tissue around the base.
  11. I stop and remember my grandfather who fought, but thankfully survived, WW1 and my uncle, an artist, who died in WW2, my daughter is in the parade on Sunday as a Brownie and I've told her the stories of our family. But old wars are inevitably forgotten as new generations don't feel the personal loss of the older generations so they will naturally forget, much as we have forgotten the fallen of myriad battles and wars in our history. Alas I'm sure the next generations are unfortunately going to have their own wars and losses to mourn.

  15. I feel that in truth the cost of doing something real to combat climate change is greater than current governments are willing to pay but the cost of that inactivity will be far greater in the future and our children and grandchildren will be paying for generations..
  16. can never really tell with just one pick but based on that looks a little shorter in the back so recon you got the better one of the two.?
