If the above advice about worming hsa been seen to then. Is she underweight? or normal for her? To increase weight increase calories to more than she is burning on a daily basis, a quick and easy way is to increse the fat content of the diet as fat contains, on average, twice the calories as protein or carbs so you can increase the calories without adding to much bulk to the diet.

Had a conversation with a certain extreme hunter only this/yesterday evening about my 40" wide, 8 button waistband light blue Oxford bags! Sorry I was young and impressionable! those were the days, I thought i looked so cool in my platform shoes, high waste band flares, cheese cloth shirt and long hair, lordy. each generation has it's own fashion to laugh at in later life.

Lurchers knocked up foot.

Good advice above would only add that nails look a bit long which might increase the chance of knocked up toes in the first place and also may slow the healing process once they have them as a long nail while cause greater articulation of the inflamed joint. -
A meat/bone only diet may not give all the required nutrients and energy sources, especially for a pup. You could try adding a little mashed veg to rice, porridige etc with would 1.vary the diet to get her used to it while young 2. give a wider range of nutrients in a natural form to ensure good development, suppliments may have a low absorbsion rate. 3 give glucose energy for sprinting etc. The more sprinting the more carbs.

There's loon in every sport it's just a shame that in field sports they are the ones that get the puplicity. I expect the head was easy to carry unseen so if it's a fresh kill, theres a small chance, they may be back for the rest.

I agree with road work, although i run with mine rather than bike, it's a really good way of getting a good base of stamina. But you need some speedwork as well to fire up and work the fast twith muscle fibres and hone the fast work biomechanics. I'll also 2nd the good feeding at the end of the day you can only get out what you put in.

May he rest in peace as his like will not be seen again.

Excellent article, reads as if the fella had his head screwed on! intrestin points from someone who appears to have experience in the field and a certain amount of experimental study ie track times etc. The only ? I would make is dogs running circles round a car doing 45 mph maybe they ment Km.

I'll 2nd that "Good stuff". -
Is she going back to pup and regurgitating food once back in the kennel? bitch will do this with youngsters. Could try keeping them seperate for an hour or so after meals. Alternatively could be stress unlikely but a possability.

Lordy I'm not qualified to walk without a map! It's not the giving it's the promotion of there use with out the knowledge to know when they should be used and the pit falls of use. I don't know of one profession that is trained to give IV's that would not put at risk their professional registration by being seen to promote the use of IVI's as part of a "first aid kit" to be used by the general public other than in exceptional circumstaces. The most important component of a first aid kit is keeping a cool head and using common sense, although that is easier said than done at times.
-
The average owner is a layman and promoting giving IVI's is IMO a recipe for trouble. I'm happy for "qualified" / experienced people to do what ever they are able to do but the trouble comes with doing things you don't understand. The terrier scenario is one where IVI's could be appropriate but with such a small dog you'd have to be very careful not to overload the dogs system fluid overload can amongst other things kill and in a shock rather than blood loss event then saline would be of limited use. In a trauma situation a slightly to fast flow could well blow any forming clots with the resul

As a home kit there may be times that IVI's are relevant but to part of one carried, "what do you carry" (DEKAW) then i question the times of use and safety. Please with a little honesty and no googling etc can those that advocate such kits please give some examples of: Times they have used them? ie Why in the field and not at home or vets etc? What rates they would use? Total volumes? What to look out for when it goes wrong? I apologise if this is hijacking the thread but feel that that leaving it without a reply could mean that inexperienced owners may follow.I have a knowledge

To repeat a comment from an earlier thread impressive kit socks but bloody deadly in the wrong hands, ie your average person, not what i would promote on a forum. Personally i prefer to carry common sense if a dog is bad enough to need IVI's it needs a vet in a hurry not pissing about in a field in the dark. Unless you have very expert people then common fist aid ie pressure to bleed site then grab and run, ie to vet etc, will be a lot more effective than bodging on site. Ps that draw contains sterile packages but from the looks of things not sterile for long lol.

Many ezcema/alergy type skin problems can be related to or made worse by stress so if the animal is a little hyper or nervy it may make things worse. There is also a familial relationship with eczema, ie if a parent has it it will increase the incidence in the next generation, so maybe worth thinking twice before breeding. Steroids calm the imflammation and also have an effect on mood i,e antidepressant that will calm the stress in stress related eczema but long term cause lots of problems including weakening bones and thining skin, hardly good for a working dog. Cause is found by a process of

I've used short lenghts of hosepipe taped on to tails to good effect. A good balenced diet, to include good quality meat, fat and carbs, should replace the nutrients that the animals will have lost as well as the body mass. A little exercise will help to ensure that the new weight is in part muscle and not just fat but gently does it.

Good bag, good dog, I'd be a proud man to own the like. Shows well on the owner and breeder/trainer. -
Tinned tomatoes contain potassium (kcl), which in everyday terms is the salt used in muscle contraction, so may be why some have had succes in treating cramps. You could try a dog specific electrolyte supplyment, avoid horse ones as they are designed to replace sweat loss so high in sodium (Na) and increasing the Na might exacerbate rather than help. Don't over do th supplyment as high kcl can cause a number of problems including cardiac arrest.

Changing house dogs, to kenneled dogs
sandymere replied to Paid's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Are you anticipating a problem with dogs and babies? If you got to do it then do it before twins arrive so two events not linked. Dogs like company to a degree so if there used to being together then carry on ie two sleeping benches in one area. if they have never been out before and one is 6 then it will be a shock to the system at first so make sure it's a warm, dry and draught free kennel. -
excellent stuff! have never seen but hopefully one day.
