  1. Well done Aaron I have yet to take a Woodie, but whilst I was refelting my sheds today, in the garden of the house that I used to live in round the corner there was a great BIG fat Woodie just wandering around not more than 30 feet from me; Taunting me it was I swear. The guy who lives there now used to race Pigeons so no way would he consider letting me pop em. Hey Davy :secret: its Aaron I'll get me coat
  2. Good news indeed, Dont forget your camera Phantom
  3. Here's the thread that started the loony toon, insect assassination squad thread. Copied and paste from my original post Just been reading another thread and Steff mentioned that she has shot wasps Reminded me of an incident I had the other week! I had returned home from the range and was preparing a nice Cajun meal for the wife & kids. I heard my daughters boyfiend squeal and looked towards the door where he was stood outside. A rather large wasp had buzzed his face and had come into the house and into the kitchen. The bloody thing was heading straight for me Both
  4. There was an entire thread devoted to shooting insects on another forum. I started it and for a while it became quite a popular 'sport' Best one I did was back when I was 17, I pinned a bluebottle through the thorax with a .22 dart to the door frame much to my mothers disgust! I saw an article in a (I think) TR Robb tuning/servicing guide that goes on about shooting flies Put a brightly colourd piece of card on a post in the garden and await your prey's arrival. I am told that flat heads are best for this sport. The idea is to create a perfect hole with legs. On the thread
  5. Must be my scope cuz mine weighs a tonn and a half!! (trust me I'm no whimp!) Oh yeah suppose all that glass will add a few pounds Phantom
  6. Aww come on guy's be nice n helpfull Hunter16, Have you done any air rifle shooting before? (I'm assuming you have). What have you used so far? I have tried many springers and I love em all to bits! Proper Air guns! My el'cheapo springer made by SMK XS (mod) 19 is superbly made (its a copy of the Gamo Hunter I believe at a fraction of its cost!). I got it and a Bisley 4x40 scope, 2500 pellets and slip for £ second hand. Its never let me down. The only thing I have done with it apart from hunting and Plinking is add a sound moderator and changed the scope. I have also dampene
  7. Take him to a gunshop and try a few for size, weight etc... Then considder your options around what fits him now and what he will require in a couple of years time. Start with a PCP then when he's ready introduce him to real marksmanship with a springer The PCP 1st route will give him an easy intro to the basics and will most certainly boost his confidance as a marksman I think a lively springer 1st may put him off and dent his ego PCP though will have him grinning like a Cheshire Moggie and pinning for the next shot from day one Phantom
  8. Please forgive me for sounding cold , but what was the point of the video? Phantom
  9. After seeing that 48 yard rabbit brain shot, C3P0 is certainly more than capable of it Phantom PS: using your calc, there would be more than enough energy to do the biz on a Canada Goose at the same range
  10. And some nice meat for the pot Well done Phantom
  11. Superb Shot there C3P0. Patience + Skill = Trophy Very well done indeed Phantom
  12. Well in that case I can recommend the SMK 3-9x40 scope, its cheap, its rated for a springer and I have been very pleased with mine. I dont use it at the max mag though, I tend to stick to around 4 or 5 mag. I got mine for around 28-30 quid, someone put a link up to a supplier a week or so back. ATB Phantom
  13. A private place is any private land that you have permission to shoot on. If a dog walker is walking his mutts on it without permission (unless a public footpath exists and he remains on it) it is still private land. In that case the mutt walker can be prossecuted (unless he is on the footpath) for trespassing (Tresspass is a civil offence BTW unless the place is like a court yard and has clearly defind borders and is signposted. Then the tresspasser can be done under some very old Criminal Law, cant remeber the name but the last time I arrested someone under this law was at 02:30 on the 1st
  14. Hi there Jimmie, Whats wrong with your current scope? Is it faulty? What are you looking for in a new one? And Finally what budget are you thinking off mate? ATB Phantom
  15. As above really, learn to shoot what you have, (not meant as an insult BTW) Bushnell from what I gather are pretty good scopes. I have both a mil-dot scope on my springer, and a simple x-hair on my PCP. I use them both as if they are x-hairs Phantom
  16. He didnt say Horses he said the Horses Yard, but they do ride on the yard, thats why there is lots of them LOL just a joke that came into my head while reading the post, not having a go at you mate !!! Like wise, My comment was intended as a joke :friends: Phantom

  19. Sounds like a good place to be I once saw a field that appeard to be moving as I began walking through it it just seemed to be like a greyish brown carpet. My gun was in my bag and I didn't have the permission so I was pretty miffed to say the least. Well done with the shooting though Phantom
  20. Good going there Andy I notice like you many others on here gut before the trophy pic is taken, is there a particular reason for this or is it just to make carrying them about easier? Phantom
