    English mastiffs are a much older breed than St Bernard's.Cane corsos are really just a bandog of sorts bred down from Neos with f**k knows what else chucked in there.Out all the traditional mastiff breeds the Neos are the most naturally guardy with the English Mastiff coming a close second.Thats why Swinford used them all them years ago when he was creating his line of Bandogs

    As it should be.Any decent bred guardian breed if kept in the home and made part of the family so it sees you all as part of its pack should protect it pack and home naturally.Unless you're training for sport or may need a dog to bite someone on the out as part of your job.pp training or schutzhund/rings port training where you'll be training a dog using prey drive techniques can cause you more trouble than it's worth when your dog spots a jogger or someone waving a stick about and decides to chase them down the field and bite them.

    GSD are a good dog if you can get a goodun.The bandog/mastiff types suit me.Naturally territorial and protective,Generally not overly prey driven so easy to keep sound around livestock and other pets.And most importantly to me relaxed and quiet when there's no threat.All my neighbours have dogs a couple of them are right poxy yapping things but they all say if we hear Gypsy bark we get up and have a look because we know she's barking for a reason.I couldn't be doing with a dog that's barking at a car door shutting or someone talking 3 streets away.But as with anything else if you're gunna get

    Walking it with spaniels wouldn't be a problem.Same as I walked my old bandog bitch with my spaniels when I had them and with my daughters Dachshunds now.suggesting a corso but that would need just as much training.What I meant was a mastiff type shouldn't be walked with anything mastiff type/bull breed as if something did go pear shaped you couldn't control both.walking a mastiff with non dominant/protective breeds isn't so much of a problem

    Any dog should be a one man dog,why would you want a dog that will go to anyone?And any mastiff sized dog should be walked individually so that you have full control.And to be honest I've seen more mentally stable,confident,calm,and structually sound boerboels than I have can corsos,In fact I've never seen a corso that Id want as a gift.Id sooner try and locate a well bred bandog from tested parents as thats all a corso is anyway.A bandog of typs except most of them have never been tested at anything

    And 9 times out of 10 you'll end up paying thousands for something that ain't what you'll be told it is.Theres more scamming/lieing twats selling dream dogs in that game than there is in the terrier/lurcher/gundog game.You never hear of any failures in that job.Theyre always advertised with cleverly shot videos of them biting sleeves to make them look good and just needing finishing touches.

    No they're not.Theyre ok if you're out doing patrols for hours or doing sport training several times a week but for a home guardian they are way to hypo.Ive seen lads that train with their dogs and do security for a living get Mali pups and a few months later be pulling their hair out when theyve got something that's trashing their kennels,trashing their van and spends 20hrs a day barking at every little sound.

    Ive kept guardian breeds and done personal protection traing for best part of 25+ years and Id say you don't need to go down the route of a fully trained pp dog.Youd be far better of getting a well bred pup of a breed known for being naturally territorial and protective of their family.Do all the stuff you've suggested with it so that it's confident in all situations and above all keep it in the house around yourself and your family so that it grows up wanting to protect your home not it's kennel.Going down the full on pp route is going to give you a headache
