I rather suspect the credit crunch and people losing their jobs has rather more impact. Let's keep a sense of proportion. The hunting ban hasn't 'destroyed' the bit of the country I know well in the slightest.

The problem might be insurance. They can (and do) suspend it for undisclosed medical problems. Have an accident and you could find you're uninsured. Same goes for car insurance.

Pack it in for a while, but KEEP THE GEAR/FERRETS/DOGS. It'll come back. I did the same with fishing. Too much else going on, too much shit. Got back into it now. Feels like I'm just starting again, it's bloody brilliant.

Just a bit of local info to throw into the speculation: The Kerria isn't exactly a salubrious area of Tam. I agree with those who think that we don't know all the circumstances. We only know what the papers/Police choose to tell us. So comments like 'it's a miscarriage of justice' are pointless and possibly incorrect. -

well im 17 when i start and with no noclaims and only a CBT my bike is £362.70 to insure 3rd party fire and theft with 100£ volantary excess. thisc fuguire goes up for less excess etc £100 excess isn't too shoddy Mine's £250, and £400 isn't unheard of.

I didn't say it was cruel. It's just unneccessary. Someone did a count of the ferrets on offer on this site last season. It came to around 400, the majority of which were bred from 'a good line'. So if the fella needs to expand the team there's plenty of opportunity there. And it suggests that the ferretting world needs more breeding like it needs a hole in the head.
