  1. not always the big fellas that will do ya dog in but, the smaller ones have much sharper nails, liek a sharp elongated pyramid type toe, all the roos strength is usually in their kick unless you meet a old boy, then their forearms can be much bigger then a mans and all solid muscle
  2. makeup would consist of deerhound, wolfhound, greyhound, saluki and likely great dane a long time back they have been bred for 3 human generations going by what a old fella said about them, so the line could be 100 years old or more as for roos yes there are some monsters out there
  3. Gday fellas yes he will be a big boy, dads 31 to the shoulder, and nice and racey and long, if you do a search on here for topics by Hairybull you will see the mum and dad, dad is blade, mum is maggie colour is saluki for sure, but he gonna be bigger then any saluki thats probably ever existed not a great deal of roodogs/staghounds about but they work still
  4. hi all got a new roodog pup here, from a long line of roodogs/staghounds in western australia, bred for working ability. hes a good size, hoping he will be as big as his dad, 31inches to the shoulder, long in body, hit like a train type of dog has a nice long face, good attitude, im wrapped with him. one of the pics his legs look weird, but that is just the pic
  5. yes article seems quite good doesnt it, only read the first bit, there is 25 pages there
  6. they have been cleaned up in an attachment cleanup id say, shit the topics over a year old
  7. hmm yes depends what you want in the dog i guess at the end of the day, do you want to go for a real good roodog, to keep the more greyhoundish attributes, or a greyhnound again, or deerhoudn, wolfhound hehe
  8. i'd feed in the morning of a night out if its unplanned then unless as ppl ahve said u got 5 hours till u get out, dont feed as far as im aware carbs aren't as important to dogs as they are to humans
  9. yeah should be able to find the pics on ozziedoggers fella or it could be that the dogs are that fast that u cant see them
  10. shes a good looking dog hey steve, is it from james mate? i cant recall my mates got a litter of first x's on the way by the looks of it, but we are in australia so frieght would be a killer His deerhound has amazing feet and stamina to burn, bit slow on the takeoff compared to a greyhound obviously but he does well, runs in some real rough contry, full of double g's(really nasty prickles) and a lot of rock. the greyhound is showing the goods, has tough feet too which is suprising as she was a track dog her whole life, lived in a kennel. kind of interesting watching her learn how t
  11. hmm good question, if the line didnt breed reasonably true to type and you coudlnt get a similar line that bred true to type, then i would go for a purebred dog out of what she is made up of not bedlington, not collie either whippet or grey, if its small fields then i'd be more inclined to go whippet so i would knowing the littel about this dog that i do that whippet would be my choice, going by what i have read i am assuming the following has good stamina speed agility drive acceleration doesnt seem to be line bred, but i dont know anything about this dog other then

only thing i can think fellas is take the hard line for a while, one post f**k up and you are gone cull hard and you may return to something like what THL used to be i know what its like being a mod and admin, i do it on a few aussie forums, its a b*****d thankless job, but someone has to do it
  13. crikes thats nuts, here we pay anything frm free to $150 and that is from dogs that go back decades in breeding, where the dogs are really something special
  14. i would buyit, but to be honest i find the best method is getting out there and doing it,a nd doing it with different people, you learn alot when running with more ppl
  15. looks more like roo shit to me mate, could be sheep though as for snakes and spiders, more snakes, last time i was out ferreting i saw 3 of the b*****ds, at 3 seperate warrens!!!! normally you dont see many but
  16. yeah boardogs is great, no forum on there anymore but Stabs havent seen you on ozziedoggers for a while?? was wondering how them pups got on
  17. only in some states millet QLD is banned atleast, not sure about the NT, be too hot up in the NT anyway for them to live
  18. kalgoorlies about 450miles east of perth yes there is game here, i only have heard of one terrierman here in perth but heaps of game, some areas are good, some not so good hairybull summed it up pretty good
  19. raw eggs bad too, stops the absorbtion of biotin if i remember right drop it in boiling water and let it cool, then feed the egg Socks, that dog looks fantastic, your doing soemthing right
  20. ok i'll work it out from what ive done with pups in the past $150 per pup worming $10 a pup vet check $$4 a pup hour a day tending to all pups @ $25 a hour x 7days x 8weeks = $1400 feed(decent advance puppy) $600 for raising to 8 weeks old vaccination $40 a pup advertising $30 a week for 4 weeks = $120 starts to add up doesnt it, if you do it proper a bit over $2000.... say you have 10 pups @ 150 that is 1500 bucks, so you end up out of pocket sure you can do it dodgy, feed them shit, dont worm them, dont get them vet checked or vacc'd but if you do it right like above how c
  21. mate i would never consider breeding untested stock what gets me is so many of you ppl over there go with first x's etc, rather then go for long lines of lurchers that have been selectively bred for generations for performance
  22. Yes possibly, but in my experience stags here in WA are usually sold or given away, if sold they are under $150... now tell me how someone makes money from a litter of pups for 150 each when you consider worming, vet bills, feed, your time etc etc have seen ppl advertise unproven dogs, that when queried about didnt even sound like stags for more then that but... but by and large most dogs are pretty cheap, and considering x bred muts are sold for hundreds more in the paper and pet shops also WA is a small community of hunters, most ppl knw someone you know, as HB says a lot are spoken
  23. www.ozziedoggers.org australian pig dog and hunting forum it has the number one running dog forum in australia bar none
