  1. yeah heaps getting round here too, gotta give them a while to grow up, pain in the ass fun catching them by hand tho
  2. well in my experience, the lightest ferrets are th ebest workers disclaimer - i only ferret with light colour ferrets though :11: :11:
  3. lmao ok then, so if the general consensus is that genes play a essential role, why is it that people get dogs from stock where it is highly possible this essential part is not as good as it essentially needs to be?
  4. i personally prefer the lighter coloured ones, no reason really other then i like the look of them more i have a sable male, he came from a chocolate hob to a albino jill. The sable is not entirely marked like the poleys i see here, much lighter in the face and overall coat i have two others, which they guy called sable, but going by what you guys call a silver, that is what they are. I had a silvermitt , but she was mostly white with black tips on her back, and some black on her neck, really white feet, but after the first year she lost the whiteness of her feet. they are some goo
  5. In regards to the hancock thread, it got me thinking Do you think its the genetics of the dogs that makes them a good worker, or in the training, or a bit of both? I belive its a bit of both, you have probably seen in your time a dog do something that is pure instinct, thats nto learned from another dog... this would be a genetic influence yes?? a wise dog man once said to me you cant turn shit into gold, but you can turn gold into shit, i think this is relevant. If genetics didnt play a part in things, then why would we have so many purebred dogs around?? Look at show dogs, h
  6. i also noticed that on the website there is nothing about the dogs coming form working stock, this i would think would be the number one thing you would want, a bit of history of them showing promise... HBG & Baldie, that is hilarious :11: :11:
  7. can be done, as long as you know how biting is plain craziness, risk of infection etc most important thing is to put some stuff on to kill any bugs, a breeder i know used this black/purple powder, but you cant buy it anymore so she uses a disinfectant called betadine

    biodiesel

hi fellas i use biodiesel here in australia couple of myths bio wont mix with diesel - absolute bullshit, works fine, in fact i often run a blend of 70%bio and 30% diesel blocks you filters - this is kind of true, basically it strips all the shit out of your tanks and fuel lines, this can block your filter, but you should only have to do this once. The other time this can happen is if its cold the bio can gel up and block your filter. I had this problem and it was fixed by fitting a heat exchanger before my fuel filter so that the fuel filter gets warm from the heat exchanger
  9. worst case you can smack their head on something hard, like a bullbar(not sure if yo uhave them over there, they are steel bars that go infront of your cars to protect them if you hit a kangaroo or bull, or some other animal) or on a log, or your mates head(only joking lol)
  10. ive done the following put a hob in with a jill and let them sort it out(wasnt too bad) put a jill in with a jill and did they fight, so took a few weeks of swapping bedding and hutches to get them ok with each other
  11. ricky, try lemon juice squeezed onto your hands, if it bites it will quickly learn not to fixed one of mine which was a right b*****d, now shes as good as gold
  12. All i will say in regards to this is I would not buy a dog from him, better to stick with guys that do breed from working stock, support those of a like mind australian staghounds are purpose bred dogs, bred from workers to be workers, they dont f**k about with untested dogs, or breed something becasue its popular and they can make a quck buck and IMO thats what it should be
  13. nice looking kelpie, personally they seem to rub me the wrong way, well a lot of them do i can see a use for them, put a bit of brains into the dogs
  14. I would say i'd be well happy for you to, only IF good on ya
  15. if you clean the ears clean em well then check the next day and the next day, and make sure its not a infection or similar, i had a jill who got an infected ear a whil eback, cleaned her ear and next day looked like it was the day before
  16. ive been told a deerhound x grey will always throw brindle, by a guy over there that breeds them quite a bit, well known have no idea about other xs tho

u'd be right in the shit if you had that book here, we dont have woods, we call it the "bush" seen a few dunnies around here similar to that mate, but most of em have seats then again ive seen worse too, no cover just a short hole in the ground
  20. i like the yellow dogs, dont like brindle, no reason other then i just like the look of those colours
  21. well not necessarily, have a look on the site, you'll see the types of dogs they use, bull blood is not always used
  22. i know that mate, he was taking the piss, and so was i above i know a bloke thats hunted ridge's for 20 odd years, like everything i think getting from working stock is the most important thing, his take foxes, deer, pigs and other quarry
  23. rabbits, rats, foxes, pigs legally think down the south corner you'll find plenty of foxes, rabbits and pigs not sure about rats, i never see them, but i dont really look for them kangaroos can be shot legally, but under special circumstances not sure about deer down there, i wouldnt be suprised if there are quite a few running around, just dont hear of them mate like i said, its a very very very big place, just look how big it is on a map, and there are not heaps of ppl here, so chances of running into authorities are very small, especially rural areas
  24. try fresh lemon juice sqeezed onto your hands personally i wont work a ferret till i trust it not to bite me, i had my youngest jill out a week ago and she bit me so she did not get the chance to start her working career my other two are great, this ones a little hard headed still
