  1. better to stick with a staghound mate, rather then mess with the unclean(eg bull blood) IMO you wont go wrong putting stag into a deerhound, some here say the staghound was like the deerhound in australia of old
  2. they want to let a wild dog kill deer why not just let the guys up there do it with theirs no worries with livestock losses then should of been your PM
  3. whats the website for real hunters can't seem to find it realhunters. forum wise . com
  4. no that is a different vet. mat the vet is on the real hunters site there is another vet ont he APDHA forum too, so a few of the dogger sites now have vets on them.
  5. well the makeup of the bullarab is really only known to the guy that created them, that hodgens fella some say they are greyhound/eng bull terrier/eng pointer but others say they had saluki not greyhound in them, but later on he put GH in there as salukis were harder to get, yet again ive heard of a line of dogs with none of that being used in the breeding program anyway the makeup isnt that important, its the fact that they are bred to work and do it naturally that would matter
  6. if there are near a false light source it can make them come in earlier could that of been the case???
  7. not necessarily dickyboy, some may not want to admit it but some lines have had mastiff, or dane and other breeds put in there only one bloke seems to know aobut the bullarabs, and he was the original breeder and from what ive heard he doesnt breed them anymore there are some good lines around tho, ppl either love em or hate em tho
  8. they yellow dogs died out years ago here, not sure about other countries etc the only colour i know of here is the bluey colour

    dvd

or the lifesaboar dvds are ok TOMO from this site can probably sort you out when he gets back
  10. yes they are very popular, or the staghounds are, which is a very similar type of dog but then for some of the work you need a bigger dog the deerhounds are not as good as one might think, the blood here is being not bred for performance in the field, most working strains are dying out
  11. looks good mate, gotta be happy with that from what ive seen of the deerhound,s they are one of the most gentle breeds ive ever seen, except when they are chasing something
  12. off but having said that it appears lots of people dont take them off, if i ever breed a litter i will take them off
  13. plenty of room for fox here in this country..........right between a staghounds jaws
  14. nightwalker, how do you find the deerhounds, do you find they progress slowly, but always a step forward or are they straight into it in my experience the staghounds we have are straight in, whereas the deerhound is more of a step by step progression, quite interesting to see the differences.
  15. the problem is that he might not know when enough is enough, easy to overrun a dog when your keen depends what he's hunting too, a good belting by some of our game could put the deerhound way back
  16. haha, i must of eaten some good shit as a kid then im 6'6
  17. trust me, as keen as he might be, just dont let him run, he'll get sore, and then he wont want to run anymore, or he'll start pulling up mid chase
  18. Tomo, if you had stayed a bit longer we could of hooked up the powabeam, its a very bright light... 11inches in diameter, pisses all over the blitz
  19. possible compo, ive got a rather small ferret here, and ive sene some bloody large jills, as bit as my old hob
  20. mate i cant stress enough, dont work him now, take him out, let it see stuff, but dont run them early wait till they hit 12 months atleast before working at all
  21. she'll be right stabs, just be sensible with her mate and you'll be right, worse case give her a haircut
  22. took Tomo out for a run just the other night, we did alright, he got his first game in australia anyway :ok:
