a south african fella told me the truth about these ridgebacks a while ago he said something similar to this a lion has teeth 3 inches long, and nailes razor sharp and inches long too a dog, no matter how big has teeth not even an inch long, and nails that are blunt and less then an inch, you see they couldnt breed a dog tough enough to take on a lion, so they bred one dumb enough to :11: :11:

use a jill, but if she is getting the run around will put the hob down. Now i have 2 jills and a hob, but the hob and young jill have to be tried proper first before i know what ill be doing with them in regards to working what and who with

what is your bitch lacking in, be honest, and then look at a dog that has those attributes as well as a good measure of the ones you like in your bitch or dont breed, get a dog from someone else who has a spare pup

i was under the impression all first cross deer x greys threw brindle do what the fellas say, let it rag skins and wait atleast 6 months having said that a mate of mines deerhound was wanting to have a crack at 4 months, but he was held back for quite a while as they need to mentally mature a bit, never mind the physical side of things im with Kye, our stags are good dogs here too
-
we do that here, but a good hot day is close to 40 degrees celcius, and they can die at 30 or over how about insulation in their hutch area too, or if its a shed then insulate the roof with good stuff, help keep the heat out it amazing how good soem insulation is i dont know anythig about raising kits, but if 3 all went at the same time it must be bad...

the most important thing about staghounds here in australia is they are bred to work, not bred to be a certain dog, that is why stags are the best pick for most of our running game that are unique to this country they have generally been bred for many many years worker to worker to look at them u see the greyhound, the deerhound and maybe some other sighthounds eg wolfhound or borzoi, but they seem the perfect blend of them oh and did i mention they are bred to work
-
good pics mate Im on the other side of the country to Mitch, but ive pointed him in the direction of a few guys in his state or next state who can help him out
-
do what you do best mate, but i would say walking around watching you shoot quarry with the air rifle may bore them a bit, u know what girls are like
-
running in the opp direction works well get it down pat at home 100% then work from there
-
yeah i think the same, the cartoons now are total rubbish dont know if i want my kids watching it, reckon toons of my age were far better
-
kangaroo and feral goat is by far my favorite game nice young headshot roo, the reds are tasty mmm was looking at roo in the supermarket today, but it dont look the same as the stuff u get yourself goat, well just like lamb without so much fat... mmmmm maybe i should of gone to my mates farm this weekend haha
-
the ones i have seen looked like skinny chihuahua's show bred, no idea if they worked em, i dont think so
-
ive heard the same about dunking in water, old ferreter told me if they wont let go then use water as a last resort, they have to let go then or die latched on never done it tho lemons squeezed freshly on my hands before handling 'psycho' is serving me well, shes been really really hard to break from biting, blowing on her nose didnt work too well, i mean it worked but not 100% of the time, sometimes she'd sink her teeth in for the kill the little bitch my finger actually squirted blood once so try lemon, its working for me really well, havent been bitten since, only slightly gra

u sound excited mate, cant blame you i would be to in your situation if your stags are catching, then why not consider breeding them, and keeping some of the pups
-
knew i'd forgotten something yeah wombats are b*****ds, i was working for telstra a while back, they had dug up some communication lines, caused me some real grief lol glad we dont have em over here, only in tourist parks etc etc
-
i read the other week to use lemons, rub the lemon on yoru hands/feet etc has anyone tried this, how did you find it?
-
wombats are nasty, know a bloke who had a girl working for him, she turned her back on a wombat and it bit her right on the pink bits, she had a date that night to hahahaha they guy told me to never turn your back on one as that is when they will bite you, they are a big bunch of muscle. legal quarry.... rabbits, hares, foxes, pigs not sure on goats dingoes wild dogs illegal quarry kangaroos, emus, and anything native guess its a bit like over there, just like your fox and hare edit: good to see you guys are coming over here as for nsw/qld u may be driving fo

i have recharge for greyhounds used it on the weekend, the dogs seemed to do better, didnt get knocked up, recovered faster etc etc cant go wrong with it IMO from what i have seen so far
-
good to see u guys are making the move can only be a good thing u do kind of take it for granted when you see roos in paddocks(even if its 100 or so in the paddock), emus etc.
-
i use old tshirts, trackys, etc for bedding, was told by a ferret guy not to use it when they have kits, as they can loose a kit in the clothes and they die, he reckons straw, but good straw, dust free etc is best for litter, i use newspapers, we get that many of them, better then throwing them straight in the bin, have to change it every day.
-
no those bullygreyhounds are no good for you mate, theyve been bred to have bulk, hence too slow(just look on the bdogs forum about the old style bully/greyhounds, they were more racy then todays ones) kelpie, no acd, no collie, no whippet, yes greyhound, yes staghound, yes, but u want to get a smaller type one, with not much wolfhound influence roodog, just a smoothcoated stag, probably better for hot climate, but might get ripped easier our stags over here are ok, but a lot of the rabbits hang close to cover when spotlighting, so get away, ferreting is a different matter, if
-
not half wrong about the slow pace here if you come over to perth, then u want to look for a staghound/roo dog, u have a hundred chances more of getting one of them then a lurcher type, unless as u said you import one in perth u dont get hares, or if you do ive never heard of any but other game is here
-
so how savage are the little kits when you are hand taming them? something ive never read about, keen to know new ferrets ive always had(3 so far) have all been nippy when i got them, till tey get used to me, execpt the last one, who is a evil f****r

was reading the other day that lemon juiced squeezed onto the hand can help stop the biting, havent tried it but worth a shot i reckon
