  1. im not interested in any comp at this time of year as im busy doing other hunting and getting in some fishing at the weekends but if we could do another longer competition in the winter over at least a month then im keen.id say not early season maybe sometime between december-february.
  2. it might be,rats like to eat each other so maybe they are telling us something.
  3. cheers mate, they arent all taken with dogs though half of that lot will have been shot.still i think its fairly good going seeing as we hardly ever get into double figures in one go and never take the big numbers in one day that some people are lucky enough to do.it takes a bit of effort to get what we do often having to hunt at silly times late at night or early before work just to get three or four rats with the dogs especially in winter if ive been out with the lurcher rabbiting or have walked miles after a pack of hounds all day.
  4. its still running, not sure when its over................i keep hearing about bigger rats but dont know if they were ever photographed and verified. this year weve had this one and a 19 1/4" with hedgehunters terrier and the 21" with my Gwp.so far this year ive taken 504 rats the majority of which were 14 inch or smaller with id guess around 50 or so making the 17/18 inch mark.for us anything over 18 inch is a specimen rat
  5. Weve had a few biggish rats this year. This one fell to Hedge hunter27's Nipper.
  6. cheers lads, i do enjoy my rat shooting but hardly ever go looking for rabbits.i think thats because if i take an airgun out shooting rabbits i could take a lurcher instead.its different with the rats because on my permissions they are usually found in places where the dogs struggle to catch.............though i still get a few with the mutts most weeks.
  7. just pics from a couple of late night sessions in the last week. out with half and half last night probably my heaviest rat of the year had a look out this evening on the fell after work with dave c for a different kind of shooting.
  8. always a head shot for me,i never go for a body shot. i like an amber filter better than a red one..........i find it a far easier colour to see in. good luck with your shooting mate
  9. a shaky clip and not very clear but it was a canny couple of minutes last night.
  10. once the season starts ill get some clips put up.probably a few minutes every couple of weeks.........................saves me from making it into dvds for the e-bay copiers to make money from
  11. i was phil wright. i had admin take that video down because i was sick of people trying to guess where the footage was taken.you would have thought there was a prize for the right answer.mind thats the internet for you.

I seem to remember in the World Cup when Calzaghe was wearing an Italian shirt and the presenter asked him who he would support if Wales were ever involved. It was an interesting few seconds before he said something like Italy in the football and Wales in the rugby funny thing nationality
  13. heres a really dumb rat that was safe from the dog when being filmed but once id swapped the dog for a gun i spotted it again when in another part of the barn 20 odd yards away.then it was an easy shot with the gun rested on a gate.
  14. I need more of them. It dosent take long for an air-rifle to sort out a bit of a rat problem
  15. Ive had another couple of late night trips out this week but mainly just to give the dogs a run around..........good sport but not always all that effective. Last night i popped out at 11.00 for an hour and took nine rats three of which were shot on top of the slurry pit so no chance of retrieving those. There wasnt very many about last night.
  16. we had another look out on wednesday after work.the cover is high and thick but it turned out a good evenings sport.
  17. I managed 7 tonight(even the litter picker couldnt get one out) but should have had more,i felt tired and didnt really feel like going.Still its a few more to add to this years tally.
  18. good pic mate, keep us all informed on how things go.
  19. cheers Dave, Alfie is doing ok and im looking forward to next season.
  20. Tonight i had a look out with Half and Half. This place often isnt easy to shoot on as the rats are mainly inside small buildings and with livestock and machinery everywhere it can be hard going.Still we got a few but once again i left the litter picker at home so couldnt get all the bodies. I havent been able to do much shooting over the last few weeks so its good to be back out.Ill be making up for lost time thats for sure.
  21. good going mate,im hoping to get out tonight if the rain holds off.
  22. Well i think youll benefit from nobody buying him, youve got a promising young terrier and good permission that should provide a nice bag of rats on a regular basis.
