    The wind was blowing tonight and made shooting outside an impossibility which was a shame as i saw plenty of rats.Half and Half got 15 inside the big buildings and i managed to shoot 3 but two of them dropped behind a bale stack into a foot deep drainage channel and i couldnt find them.For the last half hour the wind got alot worse so i went into the cow shed and added two ferrals and a black un to the bag. Not a bad night considering the weather.

    Ratting is good sport,i get to do various types of hunting and have no preference.Had a nice couple of hours out this morning with the lurchers hunting through the cover.I like it when im able to do a few different things at the weekend after a week at work. The ratting in the release pens is over and so is the access to our favorite rabbiting spots due to sheep and grouse breeding. But the air-rifle shooting will take over and the course fishing starts then theres the sea fishing off the boats and the pleasant sessions catching mackeral and flatties off the piers. Life sure is good

    cheers davy,i do hope nobody is sitting back storing up pics to load them up with a few minutes to go.that would just be unsporting as davy and others are putting up pics regularly so we all know how they are doing.

    to be honest im a bit annoyed with myself that i didnt follow the rules as id now be on 50 points which wouldnt have been bad going seeing as i didnt start untill the 23rd feb 17 days after this thing started when the leader already had 32 points. before countryboyo rightly pulled me up about rules i was planning a trip or two up the dales with the gun plus the usual ratting next week to make sure i was competetive but i think after looking at all the pics ive posted on here and realizing that NONE are within the rules its a bit much to catch up with a week to go. davy youll win this

    it was a dirty place up in that loft with those ferrals. only three of the rats in the last pic are mine the rest are half and halfs.that either means i should be thinking about NV or im a shit shot. probably both.

    we arent seeing as many which is understandable seeing as weve killed over a hundred.we did get more tonight than whats in the pic but couldnt get the bodies and a couple of feral pigeons dropped out of reach but it didnt feel safe walking across the old wobbly floor so i didnt retrieve them.still,another good session and whilst the numbers we shoot will start to drop its satisfying to know that we are doing a good job of the pest control for the farmer..........which is what we are there to do.

    i dont think he needs me mate ,if anything i think much more of this and ill be turning NV. if theres food theres a posibility of rats,filth as in animal shit dosent really feed a big rat population but ill accept that manky farms often have rats but they also need food around.my best night time ratting with dogs has taken place in filthy conditions but my best shooting has been on cleaner places.due to cleaner conditions meaning less rubbish for rats to live in it forces rats to live in bale stacks and under the huge concrete floors and walls where they can easily avoid oncoming dogs.

    id forgotten to charge my battery after sundays session which had been followed by an hours ratting with the terriers.so tonight it didnt last long...................luckily for the farmer half and half made up for my incompetence.

    We went out tonight for a couple of hours.half and half got 16 i think might have been more and i half a dozen plus a few more of those easy ferals.As we all know rats will often start to eat their kin soon after youve shot them.Infact dead rats are a good bait.We had both shot rats that were dragged away as we moved to another area and when i went to fetch the ferals out of the cow shed rats were running around everywhere.Id shot five pigeons but could only find three two of which had rats chewing on them.Pretty disgusting stuff really.
