  1. good post Chalkwarren. Ive met a few lads through the internet, and then got to know some of their mates, and that has led to alot of hunting invites.Mainly rabbiting, some ratting and days out with hounds. The internet has been really good to me.
  2. you should have seen the state of it after Pug jumped up and put his mucky paws over the silencer. ive told hedgehunter theres enough rats to go at and that she could do a load of rabbit shooting but i think she is one of those "once a week" type hunters.
  3. I cant see his party doing much to repeal the hunting laws,i think the best we can hope for is that they dont push for convictions and somehow make it so police forces and the cps have to concentrate on real crime. If anything i fear that mounted packs might gain something but terrierwork might be sacrified in exchange.hope im wrong. the first thing the tories have done is make deals with the lib dems,a party that gained few seats yet will have more power than ever.it dosent fill me with confidence.........hardly seems right that cleggy is being consulted.his party didnt do as well as they
  4. some books are worth reading because they are wrote/compiled by lads that work dogs so you might pick up a few tips.......harcombe, P.Lloyd,darcy. then theres the books that are full of nonsense and mad drawings but ones that must be read for the entertainment value........frain,bezzant,plummer.

ive flown long haul to america twice and i actually enjoyed it.four films, loads of radio stations and music.plenty of leg room and you can walk around the plane drinking free booze all the time. i love it,its the only way to travel
  6. I remember seeing my first hare over Fylands as a bairn when I was nesting...I stood there with mouth open as it loped away from us. You're likely to come across a bit more than rabbits if you're lamping up Bruss these days Pointer i dont over over fylands/copy now since i live at the other end on town but when i just had terriers we saw the odd hare.a few years ago there was a bit of set aside in that area which held allsorts and my lurcher bitch caught a few young hares out the seat one summer which thankfully could just be let go again. i dont do anything "round the doors" no
  7. AS LONG AS THAT WAS ALL YOU WERE DOING UP AT BRUSS DUCKWING its been years since i was in those woods and i never bothered to lamp up there.you certainly wouldnt want to go up there in the dark these days
  8. Everybody from around here must have done a bit over that quarry and the plantation beside the brickworks at some point.Same as going rabbiting up Bruss.
  9. its always a pleasing sight to see two rats in the one trap.i dont do much trapping but i get a few doubles every summer.
  10. a year has flown over,it dosent seem anywhere near that long. we will have to get out shooting a few pigeons etc soon
  11. thanks mate, its good to have a terrier again.
  12. seems to be a perfectly accurate description of hare hunting with hounds to me.
  13. im glad you like the pup and i hope it helps give your lad years of hunting fun. only a couple of weeks to go before i can give mine a few rats.
  14. get some ratting permission and lamp them. mine catch the occasional rabbit at night whilst out ratting but its rare.you might get the odd one that sits tight and the odd mixy one.if you want to go hunting with your terriers at night and therefore increase the amount of time available to hunt them then rats are the way to go mate.
  15. cheers lads, there arent as many rats knocking about but thats to be expected.i have been getting a few with the dogs at night but have resisted the temptation to slaughter the rest with an airgun as i might need a couple in a month or so time for a few pups. ill be in touch dave Not shooting i know but a few we got at the weekend.
  16. i often feed mine mackeral and any flounder and whitey that are a bit small for me to eat but what are too deep hooked to return.also fed them ling, cod, pollack, pouting and trout. mine are sometimes a bit fussy over raw fish so i just cut them up and pour gravy over it or mix with tripe or chicken.
  17. there may be risks but i see a fresh chicken carcase that im going to feed my dogs the same way i see a whole chicken that im going to cook for myself. this is a hunting forum and hunting people would have more chance picking up some nasty virus from a manky farm than from giving dogs fresh raw food.take ratting for example, they carry all sorts of disease but ive yet to die from them and my dogs are taken ratting regularly. the food i give my dogs is very fresh and if i cooked the chicken carcase up and ate the considerable amount of meat on it id be fine.its just a fecking chicken
  18. ive had one for seven years and it has been seriously used and horribly abused. i like it but lets face facts.......i could choose any multi shot pneumatic and with a bit of target shooting id be able to do any hunting with it that i do now.
  19. out with half and half but not many about tonight.
  20. ive fed thousands of chicken carcases to dogs, ive fed them to young pups aswell.your vet is completely wrong, its a very good food.
  21. ive fed raw food to dogs for years, sometimes i couldnt get it and fed dry complete food.at other times ive fed a mix of both. i cant say ive noticed any difference to how my dogs worked or if they are healthier on raw.i certainly dont need to clean my kennel block out as much on raw thats for sure. i read the billinghurst books and they are ok but i no longer mess about shredding veg,my dogs eat chicken carcases and wings as their main food with hearts, livers and tripe when i can get it,but i dont worry about it if i cant.i do feed rabbits whole when i get them though this season ive hardly
  22. ill go mate, always looking for more ratting.
  23. I am mate,Hedgehunter is very lucky to have me.On a few occasions in the past ive even let her bring me a shovel when a terrier has gone to ground unplanned AND let her stay to watch the dig.
  24. I was due to spend the weekend out with hounds but seeing as it was Hedgehunters birthday and that id been away hunting for the past couple of weekends i thought id give it a miss and take her ratting instead. Thats just the sort of kind hearted, unselfish, loving, caring and thoughtfull boyfriend i am.
