  1. Your a lucky man phantom if you have farms that you can shoot rats in number on a regular basis, all year long, year after year. I've never had such places and once we have hit a spot hard the numbers don't usually come back the same as when we started. For myself and my ratting buddies getting enough rats to shoot/hunt with dogs is a constant problem.
  2. Same goes for a crow lol.don't see too many people getting those very often and defo not in numbers. Just wondering
  3. Out of interest why would a squirrel get less points than a rabbit.I could shoot a rabbit anytime I please but a squirrel would be harder to find.
  4. Tough old rat I had a canny hour out last night taking four.cracking hunt.
  5. I think You can get extending litter pickers.I saw one advertised somewhere a while back and should have bought one.
  6. I'm waiting until 11.00 before I go out. I'll give it another week with the mutts and then I suppose I'll have to shoot some to keep the farmer happy.
  7. good haul there the litter pickers i get for us are from Arco.
  8. cheers Dave see you later in the week for a bit of rat lamping with the mutts.
  9. Its just the way i see things and we all have different opinions.I know that many rats ive shot will have soon died out of sight but as i cant be 100% sure on that i dont count them as dead.Either way it makes no difference as i just shoot what i see,and ratting inevitably takes place in built up areas with loads of holes etc close by. I think if i started counting rats i cant see dead but feel i hit bang in the head it would be the start of a slippery slope to kidding myself. I only shoot rats in the head and i only count the dead bodies i can see.........thats my own set of rules FOR MYSEL
  10. I don't think I'll watch it as i can imagine what's shown, sadly I've been out with lads who consider a pellet put anywhere into a rats body as a Job well done. I've only ever gone for head shots and even then not all die quickly but at least I try and be humane.
  11. I'll try again, bloody I phone lol It's not about doughting anybodies claims it's just that anybody who has done a bit of ratting will have had countless times when they think they shot a rat cleanly but found no body. For me personally it's no body,no rat And yes alot of my rats cannot be looked for but that's ratting,I still don't count them.that's how I see it and that's how I count the rats I take every year but it docent bother me if others see it differently.
  12. I think Davy is a sound bloke and will have shot at a lot of rats but as
  13. I'm glad you lot have explained to half and half the complexities of dead rat recovery lol
  14. I'm no expert but have seen hounds of most types.I'd have thought if your wanting good coat, voice and nose a welsh hound would be a good choice.
  15. Bollocks lol Some of us northerners will be facing whatever comes our way on the fells tomorrow.it can be savage out there. Have a good un Davy
  16. What's an SPA? Bring me back some of that tripe next time you go lol As for pedigree chum I'd rather feed my dogs rats than that shit.
  17. some of us have faced antis in the flesh out hunting with hounds or just with our own dogs.thats much worse than some tit on a computer.this lad aint even worth discussing.
  18. id just let it go,he is probably just some kid mouthing off.its no big deal and he cant hurt you so just send some abuse back and laugh it off.
  19. ive taken a good few black uns, dutch marked, blues, gingers, and a fawn over the years.ive probably got a few being caught on film.........never seen the fasination it can hold with some as its just a rabbit.we nearly always caught an odd coloured one when ferreting in north yorkshire.ive not had as many in the durham and northumberland dales though. badgers are everywhere but ive never seen a white one.
  20. i take my lurcher bitch and GWP whenever i go ratting, they love it.
  21. hares are not endangered, they arent close to it and i dont think anybody need worry about them becoming endangered.they had a hard time up in some moorland areas when the freezing weather came earlier this year and it had us worried but from what ive seen so far theres a few about, and ive gone to places this summer that were teeming with them.........just silly numbers that the estate managers told me would need culling in hare drives using shotguns where over a hundred taken in a day is the norm. the anti brigade want the public to believe that hares, badgers, hedgehogs and all birds of pre
  22. They are not an endangered species.
  23. Hares dont need protecting against extinction so i dont know what the The Brown Hare Preservation Society do You arent supposed to kill hares on moorland or unenclosed land during the off-season,but thats just isolated parts of Britain.Personally i wouldnt want to kill a hare in the breeding season anyway......legal or not.Plenty of other vermin stuff to shoot at.
