  1. Great Crested buddy..... someone these days are making a hell of a lot of money surveying land for these....
  2. There is no law against moving smooth and palmate newts . HOWEVER, I have done my fair share of newt reintroductions and I think it is best if it's a case of slowly slowly catchee moneky... fish eat larvae like theres no tomorrow.... believe it or not sticklebacks are probably the worst for it!
  3. Yeah, I want them to do well, to the point I will even forget about koi if it means the pond is a good habitat for them, I already got wild duck dropping in regular now, this pond won't be shot ! Can't say the same for the other ones though I love seeing nature at work, keep looking for spawn but not managed to see any yet. Will try and get some pics over the next few nights, not tonight as I am soon of to Southampton to collect the plucker I bought ! Ducks hoover up newts like there's no tomorrow.......get the mallards flattened IMO...(obviously when they're in season of course!)
  4. Female cubs can stay within the 'home' territory right through to the next spring I have found. Male cubs less so one presumes. No matter what we think we 'know' about fox behaviour, there's still much we don't know. Fox dynamics change depending on many factors IMO, food being one of them. I believe that they stay 'together' more if they are urban foxes as opposed to country foxes. But thats JMHO. Which is why cub hunting or Autumn hunting was popular in hunt country to disperse litters it was thought . Does anyone have any pics of a DOG fox at an earth with cubs ,either feeding or just
  5. Disagree buddy. But we've all got our own opinions....

  7. If i can see her tail I'll tell ye what she is......
  8. Looks very expensive........I'd say you were rolling in it to afford such a trap....
  9. Good light is the key......JMHO..... :victory:
  10. You mean the box.....the trap is a BMI... Yes, they do look rather good.......
  11. A blue hare is still white and will be for a good few more weeks until they start with the summer moult....
  12. Awesome fish.. an eel that size will be over 30 years old I would guess..... :victory:
  13. The dog fox cache's food for his mate outside the breeding den. They either bury the food or often leave it in a small depression. I would say that a dog fox really assists the vixen, especially during the first two weeks when the cubs are born and she is tending for them rather than hunting.A dog and vixen can be found together any month of the year, be that in earths or above ground in cover. JMHO.
  14. Like I say; Don't give them any money!
  15. The first is a skylark.... Meadow pipits don't fly like that....
  16. The irish is very different to their white cousins.......
  17. It's rare I bump into a mole I can't catch, but i did the other week on a golf course. The 'soil' was white sand and the whole place riddled with runs. 6 traps i put in and, sure as eggs is eggs, it made a mistake and ended it's like if the jaws of a trusty talpex...but it took a week......it was a big boar mole, and i think he was doing more rooting about rather than travelling on his established runs.....I was glad to catch him, but sad in a way, as he was a proper challenge!!
  18. Ha ha ......I didn't think you left any safetys on did you? Yes, a good couple of days, and lots of variety. Hell of a lot of footage.,,.... Some nice trap boxes that will make lovely kindling for the log burner.... We'll try for the half century next year,.... (once i've perfected my secret set )
  19. Are you planning on producing and selling the lure or is it purely for your own use ? It seems to be working well for you ...... Don't know yet, but just testing it out at the moment. Not sure what the future holds......
  20. I use them for various things, but at this time of year i feed my cubs with them.
  21. The squirrel lure I'm playing with really works I think......
  22. Not a big area....not in the grand scheme of things....
