Well me and my mate decided to take the pup out for a mooch, ferreted a couple of small warrens just to see how he's getting along. He has made a 100% improvement. He is coming on recall, he is watching the warrens and he has caught rabbits. Bit more fitness with the drag lure and it looks like I'll be having a great season. He's like a different dog and I'm over the moon. He seems to know his job and he's a happy dog now. Couldn't be happier

Im wanting a more pwerful lure for the simulated coursing, as it is the lure ive got i only powerful enough for a couple of turns. Any more than that and it struggles and goes quite slow. I want full speed on a large turning course. There was a bloke on here who made them and lived nearby, i would have loved to have driven over and picked a new machine up. Hopefully someone will know more about him, and if hes even still making them

indeed it was, it was a "drag in a box" i have already ordered a new motor for it but would also like a larger drag lure too

Hey, my lure machines decided to pack in on me, if i remember correctly there was a bloke called graham4877 who made drag lures on here, near to me too. I have messaged him but he hasnt been on here in well over a year, does anyone have his contact details so i could buy myself a new machine. Im desperate to get back out with the dogs. Cheers

If i remember correctly she is a wheaton X whippet. She is used for everything from beating, coursing, rabbiting, ratting etc. She puts her hand to everything and is by far the most intelligent dog ive ever known. Not much ever gets away from her. Shes not a tall dog. Shes had pheasants, rabbits, ducks, stoat (that was a sight to see.) Ill have a chat with the lad tonight and see if hes ok for me to pm his number to you.

My mate has a wheaten X that he might be putting to stud, if he does ill let you know, its a cracking dog, never seen a dog as good. Not the fastest but got the brains to catch nearly anything.

Some of my favourite photos, first is my old brindle pup, was the best hunting dog i ever had, sadly was nicked out of my garden. Was gutted, took me a year before i could face getting another dog. Then theres my new brindle pup and my old collie/greyhound bitch, far too much of a princess to bother chasing things, but still good company. Theres also my old dog reilly, floofy thing which was a cracking dog, would bring rabbits back live to hand, then start licking them! Theres also a photo of my much younger, going out to "fly" our vulture.....most days ended up sunbathing haha And theres the

Losing a hunting companion is terrible, sorry for the loss

people like that give anti's all the ammunition they need. We need to look after our sport and be seen as whiter than white in todays society.

Looking good, shame i have too many animals already, i would have loved to have that merl eating out the bowl!

Hey, not sure if many of you will remember, i got a pup who's last owner had been to hard on him, when i got him he was hiding behind the curtain and petrified of people. You all said it would be time and patience. Well, its paying off, he loves attention now and his recall is really improving. The biggest change happened when i brought a drag lure, he soon associated being held by the collar with him getting to run. It has pretty much dissolved his fear and he is getting better and better by the day, Im even going to enter him in the races this saturday at the game fair. He's going to b

My old bedlington collie greyhound was a master thief. He soon learned how to open the fridge and steal the butter and cheese. Luckily he is scared of balloons, so we tied a balloon to the fridge door to stop him. Also a few year back in my old house we had a large cupboard under the stairs where i kept my freezer. Same dog, would wander out of the living room then wander back in a minute later, then sleep for a bit before wandering out again before coming back in and repeating....wondering what on earth he was up to i decided to sneakily follow him.... He was going into the cupboard under th

Anyone Running Wheaton X's In Scotland?
bhawk replied to Bobba_fett's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
My hunting partner has a wheaton whippet cross, one of the best dogs ive seen, does everything you ask of it. Hes planning on breeding her, north east england. -
I can offer you a big ol' albino hob, he grafts but can be temperamental, never bitten though. I can also offer one of my kits, will be old enough to leave in a week or two. Was conceived down a warren, so both parents were grafters when not busy ravaging each other lmao. Im just off the a689, near bishop auckland. not too far away and can meet you mid way if it helps. Dont want any money for them, just want them to go to a good working home

i have a ford mondeo 2ltr tdci diesel estate. Big enough to have ferret gear, dogs, hawks and passenger too, my only wish is that it was also a 4 x 4

Just to say thanks to the people who got in touch, i now have a good source of food for the whinging mongrels. I couldnt reply in pm for some reason though.

I have been lucky in that when out with dogs and ferrets never had an issue. However we were out shooting with air rifles lamping one night and cops turned up, theyd been told we were out with shotguns blasting hares without permission!!! Safe to say, once we showed all the equipment they realised it was bullsh*t and no action was taken by the police

Who do you buy it from, thats a bloody good price
-
Hello folks, i used to give my dogs a raw food diet, but as i didnt get out hunting as much this season it appears im running relatively low on food. So who feeds raw diet in north east (durham area) and if so, who do you get your food from, and roughly what prices are people paying? Cheers

Its all personal preference, i use the mk3, my hunting partner has just switched from mk1 to mk3 himself. I find the mk1 is easier to use although i think the mk3 is more precise, especially around wire fences
-
Im bloody lucky in that i only work 3 days a week, so finding time for the animals isnt too much of an issue, although with breeding season kicking in i will work 5 days through the summer then back to 3 come september
