  1. Not looking to criticise.....but..... :nea: When using a rifle, especially a centre fire, a shot should never be taken if a second animal sits behind a target animal. It is just basic good practise and quarry respect. The risk of wounding the second animal...which then becomes a runner..is just too high. I have witnessed on more than one occassion, multiple pigeon kills with a single cartridge...not by myself though. I personally couldn't hit a barn door with the shottie...
  2. No....I would never pay to ferret. Happy to take peole out free of charge in my area. Prefer to share and get returned outings back. Adds much to the variety in life.
  3. When the post window is open, use the icon that looks like a sun over mountains. (resembles a picture) This will then open a browse window and enable you to search your pc to post a picture. Caution though........if it is too large it will exceed the maximum picture size allowed to upload. If there are lots of them...then the easiest thing to do is open a photobucket account. In which case you just copy and paste the link accross...simpless see!
  4. There is one other thing to consider........... With what weight of pellet were the tests performed??? It will affect the results of the crono!!
  5. I work in a smilar environment to yourself at times.... Get this........... I made a new potable water tank for a project, very nice stainless steel job...... 8000 litre. So our business made a small prfit on the job, it was a weeks work...customer happy, me happy... Because it was to be used for drinking water, it to had a sterilisation certificate.........Guy came with a vacuum cleaner and a pump action hand spray, put a bit of peroxide about the place.....1.5 hous plus travelling, and a bit of paperwork. £800 plus vat. He made more than us ...................I went f'ing m
  6. Why not stick a coterminious application in with your SGC stubby, go for a Rimmie as well... My favourite of all my arsenal!! Anyway, good shooting. Keeps the ferrets fed mate... ATB Matty
  7. I always thought thats what MSN was for!
  8. How old are you....? Because that is just wrong.... I think you are being palmed off!! If you have land with permission to shoot, that is suitable for use with you chosen calibre, your referees come back positive, and there is nothing in your history that suggests otherwise....I'd be putting your application in..get someone experienced to check you application, then if it is refused.....ring BASC.. But stay polite with your FEO at all times. If you are suitable to have a SGC and have need for an FAC...IMHO...you should get it.. PS my comments refer to RIMFIRE, not C/F
  9. Thanks....cant beat a bit of Beth ;)

  10. Back out again last night on a farm in Fife. We are taking the hard hiting approach on this farm to get it back under control, so any notions of quarry preservation are a big no..no. The majority of these were taken at between 20 and 100 metres, with the rimmy. We accounted for between 50-60, but failed find a few in the dark. Just bringing my son in to the 'Business' now.....hoping to train him as the new gun dog/gate opener..but hes not keen on the rate at which Mr Adventure and I are shooting them at....let alone the end of evening 'Guttin' session....so theres work to be don
  11. Top right of post.....options....displaymodes....standard... ) just under where is says "new topic" That should do the trick!!
  12. i give one of the big 450g tins from Tescos split between 3 dogs after their morning run...allways give the ones in tomato sauce...got the tip off a lad who had some of the best conditioned dogs i've seen Me too, as they come in , also the ones in tomato sauce, apparently it neutralises the acid in the urine. Also stops the white patches on the lawn.
  13. Asda Value Sardines £0.25 a can, the cheapest I can find. Just as a good as any other.. The dogs luv em!!
  14. It's so they dont have to change your cert wording every time you apply for a new permission. Which, although you have a closed certificate, you are allowed to have as many "approved " permissions as you like. In fact the more you have, the better it is, and the more likely they are to give you an open ticket. Because they will become fed up looking at the bits of land you have.
  15. Probably says. "Is allowed to shoot on land approved by the chief constable" Rather than naming specific land
  16. Well what ever you do, dont worry about it. Sounds like you have enough on your plate!! And just do as your Doc has ordered...go out and enjoy your self, relax, and recouperate. Its amazing how good you can feel after a bit of random rabbit slaughter!! Think of all the things you can do after your harvested as well. :tongue4: Pate, curry, game pies........... ATB Matty
  17. Hello, welcome to THL from accross the water!!
  18. I dont know how distempter is caught or transmitted...So apologies for technical innacuracy. But I would be really nervous taking new ferrets in to the same area, so soon after loosing others. It may be wise to ask the vet for his advice? Can it be transmitted in the air? Was is feline or cannine distemper, are there wild/ferral/neighbours cats in the which will reinfect the newcommers?? Just be really careful, it would be a shame to loose some more. Or can yo keep them at a freinds house until you are satisfied that it is safe to bring them home? Just airing my tho

  23. I normally use the cloth that often comes with the scope. The main no..no is breathing on the surface, as your breath is acidic and can remove the coating. A lens cleaning pen is also usefull.
