Norwich does get a good few waxwings and just yesterday i was watching a huge flock of Field fares and along with Redwings they often can be seen in the fields around me winter time,Norfolk and Suffolk are the first landfall the birds reach and unless there's a easterly wind to help push them along the north sea can be a cruel hard going place against the wind so a rest and feed up for a few days after landing is what a lot do before heading further west...Maybe a sign of a harder winter on it's way if the birds from the east are arriving so hungry already....

  8. My uncle was a water bailiff on the river on the road out of Amesbury to Stonehenge and as a young lad i used to go water weed cutting with him there and after we cut the weed he'd teach me to fly fish, one day we went there and one part had a load of naked hippies swimming around and asked him if he was going to tell them to bugger off, he turned and told me "the river belongs to everyone and i'm just here to help look after it and not to act like i own it".I learnt a great lesson that day ...
  9. Google goat at stonehenge on images.that's where i found it and copy pasted it from .. Amesbury is the nearest town to Stonehenge Waltjnr so maybe they do something these days, but to tell you the truth i ain't been to stonehenge for a solstice or equinox for about 14 years now and although i grew up in Salisbury have sort of forgotten what villages are what close by there or what goes on there these days ..
  10. As it goes i had a old pig farm that had thousands of rats about it and we took over 4000 one winter only going there on a friday night, the building were huge and all falling down due to the undermining of the walls etc and a place that only comes along once in a lifetime.Anyway we were shooting them one night and watched this pig get hold of this dead rat and with very great care sucked it's feet for around 1/2 hour,it was a mad thing to watch her almost getting off on the sensation she seemed to be getting from sucking it's feet.I know this sounds far fetched but 100% the truth and in the en
  11. Iv'e always thought what a waste of feed and cover on shoots for poxy gamebirds instead of it being for rats, one day i'll have a sporting estate just for vermin ...

  13. My profile pic is of me at Stonehenge during a Winter Solstice ,.... The goat followed us down the road when we left site and i sort of ended up looking after it as some hippy dogs with no livestock manners were hassling it and hence why it's up on the stones and not there for sacrifice as some folk that day asked me..

  24. We always had a small chicken wire fence going around the back of the stack as we threshed it to stop the rats slipping away but we had to put a pipe down to give some rats some temporary shelter as they were taking so long to catch them the rats were getting over the top of the fence, once the things killed a rat we tipped another one out the pipe for them to mess with.We collected up all the dead rats and they were even trying to count the pinkies and babies we found in a few nests at the bottom of the stack to bolster the tally,we had 99 or 101 i cannot remember now but i'd say their tally
  25. That the fella in devon who runs the sillyham pack, had them up threshing with us once and what a pile of shite they are.the only dogs with them that caught a rat were the ruseel x sillyham's and they needed holding and chucking at the fleeing rats. There were around a dozen dogs with him that day and my old plummer bitch caught most of the 100 odd rats we had that day...Utter trash and i deleted all the pics of them i took that day as they weren't worth memory space....
