  1. "What do we want? Loads of government, authoritarian marxist national government plus unelected supranational eu government! When do we want it? Now!" defeated idiots I don't trust Boris one bit to deliver brexit, but it is funny to see his appointment make these morons act out. I wonder who paid to bus all those students into central London
  2. Same here, too many roads and people around here for mine, it's not very relaxing. My old one bred the same way liked a long run, but nothing like this crazy fecker. Now she's around 4 and the collie in her is becoming more evident, in fact I watched her stalk another dog she likes to harass crouched to the ground like a sheepdog the other day. I'm not a terrier person, but can understand why bull lines are often crossed in to this type to make more of an all rounder.
  3. Using a winch like a tirfor to pull the fallen trees away (and up the bank by the looks of it) until they are free would remove you from the danger zone, but be aware of the dangers of winches. And wear a helmet, they are not for show with trees.
  4. A few farmers round here ended up with NZ huntaways. The ones I knew had an easy going temperament and made a good general farm dog for a bit of light shepherding and looking big and intimidating to dissuade uninvited visitors. The big ones were quite fast in a straight line on account of having a long stride and I am reliably informed that one managed to occasionally take fox, rabbit and hare. Don't remember them barking much. I liked the ones I saw, but they were nothing like as effective as collies for herding and can't see any particular reason to use them for lurcher breeding. Believe the
  5. Always admired photos of him, big dog like that must have been a sight to behold at full stretch thundering across the ground intent on his quarry.
  6. He was sailing close to the wind, but arguably wasn't actually breaking the terms of the reporting restriction. There was a Sikh youtuber doing exactly the same thing on the court steps with no attempts made to stop or arrest him. From a practical point of view that day was sentencing, so no arguments or decisions being made in court only a pre written judgement being read out, which counters the argument that his actions could change the course of the case. The Court of Appeal was critical of the judge that sent him to prison that day because he was so far out of line with normal court proced
  7. The silly behaviour with high strung mongs in town centres playing up in front of the camera is all a good laugh, but I won't be forgetting any time soon the footage of his most recent release from prison. Look at the 'crime' he was punished for and the endless and obvious media lies and harassment and it is hard not to conclude that he was locked up as a warning, having become too much of an irritation to the establishment at the heart of the British state. I hope the dubious Israeli funding he receives is really good, he has earned it with the never ending grief from all sides.
  8. Or he could end up in the House of Lords, like Baron Prescott of Hull It isn't tory v labour or left v right anymore. The internet is increasingly highlighting every lie from the establishment and the general public are rapidly starting to understand how things really work and don't trust what they are told anymore. They censor and punish Tommy Robinson at every opportunity because he at the forefront of making people really think about and look into what is going on around them. Own up, who was it
  9. I'm suspicious about his real motives. If Nige had really meant to see through brexit he would have stayed at UKIP to fight the government instead of appointing some idiot to destroy the party and 'leaving politics' (whilst keeping his euro MP salary). The Brexit Party candidates look to be very close to the conservative party and are establishment people such as lawyers and academics. Hope I'm wrong but suspect the Brexit Party has miraculously appeared out of nowhere to stop UKIP now that smearing people who stand up for themselves, their local community and their country as 'nazis' doesn't
  10. Phil Lloyd mentioned breeding a litter a long time ago of deerhound / collie / greyhound x whippet / deerhound in his book. He said the resulting litter were more agile than deerhound sized lurchers with good steady temperaments and weatherproof coats.
  11. @ginger beard slaughterman right? My landlord used to be a meat inspector and so was in abattoirs all week and it was really noticeable how dogs didn't want to be anywhere near him, I actually had to keep my old lurcher away from him because even when she was very old she would bark at him (never anyone else). The sheep dogs and labs didn't want anything to do with him either. Might be because he's getting elderly, but now he's retired dogs seem much more relaxed around him and my current lurcher although a wary type is all over him.
  12. These days people are so mental, uptight and ready to kick off at the slightest thing it's better to put the dog on the lead until the other people and their dogs are gone. Calling the dog back when it wants to run over to greet other dogs is just reinforcing the recall, should come with some patience and time.
  13. Treaties are already signed with our new military partners Germany, France and the Netherlands. As well as British and NATO staff, there is also an eu headquarters inside Northwood. Strange military cuts and purchasing decisions make a lot more sense if the plan is for the armed forces to be part of a unified eu military instead of functioning as an individual nation. The 'eu army' that politicians like Nick Clegg were lying about a couple of years ago is a half truth, european countries supplying intelligence, troops, hardware and funding to a federal army under the central command of the eu
  14. A mate trained a few for beating and picking up and his family bred the occasional litter over the years. Outwardly a nice steady trainable sort of dog, but a bit prone to unexpectedly biting (including people on occasion). No idea what the lines were.
  15. Is that the meaningless petition with hundrety trillion signatures that can be signed unlimited times from the same email address? Is that the 'people's vote' march that the bbc and other main stream media have been making exaggerated claims of 1,000,000 attendees, when it was really more like 200,000? Whichever way it goes, one of the positives from brexit is that it has proven just how dishonest the government and establishment really are and how they have lost the trust of a significant proportion of the population. And it is funny to see the remain campaign shoot thems
  16. The central leave arguments about sovereignty are solid. I wasted several years of my life studying law at university and although the very left wing lecturers probably didn't intend to for the students to realise it, the way the eu was forced into the British system of government makes no sense at all. It's one of the few things I learned as a daft kid that I still believe now, I was even one of the 7 people to vote for the Referendum Party in '97 Most remain supporters are either following the herd or have a personal interest in continued eu membership, but at the same time don't be foole
  17. The numbers on those marches don't really matter, it didn't change anyone's mind. The important thing is to question everything we are told, even by sources such as the government or BBC that most of us would have trusted 20 years ago. For what it's worth, I wouldn't trust some statements made by the leave side either, but do believe that the broad argument to leave the eu is correct. One issue both sides are avoiding is european military unification, which we have already been signed up for on the quiet. It's an in depth subject, but worth knowing about: https://www.ukcolumn.org/se
  18. @sandymere would that be the same 'People's Vote' march that (very remain biased) Mayor Sadiq Khan's Greater London Authority counted at 250,000?
  19. Yes, all the laws from parliament have to receive 'royal assent' (Queen's signature). The UK is a constitutional (governed according to a set of rules) monarchy, well at least it was until eu laws and courts were badly bodged into our constitution. Trouble is, it is convention that the Queen always signs the laws and she has made a career out of not rocking the boat. You could argue that the Queen would be doing her duty as monarch by standing up against the ending of the UK as a sovereign nation by further integration into the european federation, but don't hold your breath.
  20. Honda aren't moving to the eu, they're moving the factory back to Japan. The eu trade deal with Japan allows Honda to sell cars made in Japan to europe without high tariffs. Therefore Honda no longer have a reason to have a factory in the eu. Great for German car manufacturers who get to sell more cars in Japan, not so good for Swindon. Wouldn't be surprised if Honda also close their their French, Spanish and Italian factories. As a member of the eu, we trade tariff free. If we leave on WTO terms and tariffs come into force in UK to euro trade, the opportunity will be there for other
  21. Honda were in the UK because it gave them access to the eu car market without the prohibitively difficult labour laws of european countries like France. They are now leaving the UK because Japan has signed a free trade agreement with the european union, which allows them to sell cars produced in Japan directly to the eu without the high import tariffs which would make them too expensive for the euro market. It has nothing to do with brexit, other than in the sense of reminding us that it is a good idea because the eu does not act in our interests, which it has demonstrated with honda by wipin
  22. Thanks to the moron legislators in the UK Parliament, since 2016 you can get 6 months if someone fears that your dog will injure them and 5 years if it does injure them + death sentence for dog in both cases. This includes trespassers / those with criminal intent on your property https://www.gov.uk/control-dog-public Not sure what the record of enforcement on this has been like.
  23. +1 for Jim Greenwood, he might be able to give a new perspective on the problem, just don't expect him to instantly fix it. Sounds like a lot of work.
  24. Watched some episodes of 'Outback Truckers' and noticed many of the drivers had cattle dogs to guard the cabs of their roadtrains We've had trouble in the past with scrap men helping themselves. Next doors lab always barks and follows any strangers that come on the place, but can be almost entirely sure she will not bite. With UK law as it stands against dogs that bite and customers, postie etc visiting, the lab does a good job letting us know if there is a stranger around.
  25. Thanks budgie, watched a load of those videos and they all followed the same ideas about finding the lowest level of the collar to break focus, then cessation of the shock as reinforcement of a correct behaviour that the dog has already learned. Not using it as a big stick to whack the dog, the distress of which can cause unintended behaviours.
