    One of them was certainly grassing an elusive Oxfordshire fallow buck after 5 blank stalks . Then there’s the guided stuff .I do enjoy getting other people their deer ,especially a good stalk in ,thats where the adrenaline happens . Hoping to get this new 30-06 shooting sweet and do a bit more with other species this year .

    The keepers life still lures me but I fear it’s a fading trade ,round me anyway .All the big syndicates have folded and just the local estate putting a few thousand down for what they call boys days whatever that is .Used to be all the lads from all the tenant farms but they are gone so not sure who the boys are now .Looking back I was silly to Jack my job in the trade but then again I wouldn’t of seen the world as I have now .

    Was a rabbit night with the chance of a fox on neighbouring ground to the chicken sheds .First rabbit shot was off a log with a bank behind it that found its way under the stump . Mate shot another from this point but arriving at the body he realised the ward add on had fallen off the scope as we searched for the rabbit .We scoured the field up and down for that thing .How hard could it be to find a black 6x6 square box with two torches .Took us 45 minutes to find it in the grass .Hadn’t been tightened up right so in field pit stop on onward .Left the two rabbits at the road side and a

    Nice one SD but I’m still bemused why you gave it two more rounds unless of course it was to get a bite this end ?.The new moon last night was very bright and the wind cold .Surprised it turned to rain and not a frost first thing this morning .I was out rabbiting with a mate with his 17 .14 rabbits ,a fox and 3 rats . The 17 probably the most versatile round when it’s working well .

    I guess our foxes are on a par with your coyotes in places mate .We are able to shoot any amount .The main restriction is time out at night .Daytime foxing is far better challenge wise but not many do that when it’s relatively easy at night with the NV kit and thermal .Still got to get to within shooting range or call them but it’s a different ballgame from lamping them the old fashioned way.? Nobody I know takes anything from a fox accept maybe the tail if it’s a good un .
