    Good to get back to basics that we all grew up on .We had massive numbers here back in the 90s but VHD saw them off big time .Just starting to come back in places to the point landowners are mentioning them .

    He’s got a good pic of a red footed passage hawk from slimbridge last summer as well as an otter same day .He’s got the patience for it .

    Saw a gos not long ago in Wilts mate .Immature juvenile on a farmers barn .Sat in high seat in Larg ,highlands and one caught a black bird right by me . Saw another last year up near Shap ,also sat in a high seat . Hes very particular which pics he shows as some are bit grainy .Good enough for me but not him ?

    Stone chats pretty common up on the chalk here mate .This time of year is also good for the short eared owl .My son in law is obsessed with filming them and the harriers both montegu and hen up there .Look up “Wild snaps “ on Instagram ??

    Can’t miss them when they do appear mate .No other bird like it .Seen them in France in small groups but seems to be singles here .

    The sheds you’ve been to have been having a mare with foxes digging in mate but hopefully a concerted effort by myself and a mate have sorted the main culprit ,caught in the act of digging into a shed and accounted for . Hopefully be some ratting this year bud .

    We have pied flycatchers in the wood I shoot squirrels mate .I use it as a means to shoot corvids as they are red listed .We also have marsh tits nesting which are also red list . Sat in that squirrel hide I’m always in awe of the number of small birds that visit as well and makes the day all the more special for me . Those that carry out fieldsports of one sort or another who don’t know the birds species really annoy me .I’ve a mate who’s a good stalker but wouldn’t know a tit from a thrush .

    Is there a market for fox furs there mate .Look same species we have here .I called one when on holiday in Canada that was huge .As big as a yote I’d say .I wanted to call the lion people said was about but a no show .We we’re in a motor just to add .

    There was a black vulture here Greyman .I snapped it banking away over a hedge after putting it up off a road kill deer that had made it through the hedge .Drivers on the road all slowed down but only time I saw it .Theres a list of rare spots somewhere on the net and that hoopoe was on it but not the vulture .Think I deleted the pic as not important .

    We had a hoopoe here for a few days last spring until the twitchers drove it away .I saw it whilst stalking roe ,landed just above my head in a thorn bush .

    I’d give up all the money I have ,all 20 quid of it to be a keeper now in a steady all expensive position on an estate .I can’t get enough of the outdoors at the moment with family and work commitments .I need more .

    I’ve had a Harris hawk male that did what you describe mate .Down to myself not devoting the time to get it proper fit .Lamped rabbits and bits ,ferreted a few rabbits for it but wasn’t my main hobby therefore it just grew fat and lazy .Sold it to lad that promptly got it killed by another Harris female trying to fly as a coilition. Ill get another when I’m fully retired I’m sure of it ,probably a red tail or gos .

    Talk of a buy back on calibres that will be of no use ie .22 ,17 and the hornets .but can’t see it myself .Just another fold to the antis .Apparently France who buy a lot of our processed shot game from dealers have stated they won’t buy steel shot anymore as the shot rusts in the journey to their outlets .Couldn’t make that up tbh .Be some cheap small calibres about soon for sure .
