  1. No amount of night vision will allow you to get close to a rabbit at night unless it has mixie :11: .The normal lamp,if used properly ,will allow you to get a lot closer as it block out your outline .Without the lamp you are in their world and they are a lot more equipped than we are .
  2. The first signs of age to me is the time it takes for a dog to recover from the days ordeal .A dig of 4 foot will have the same effect on a dog as a 10 footer .What Im saying is the time to ground will take more of a toll on the dog as it gets older ,as has been said ,the amount of work and the injuries play a large part in when this will occur .A young ,fit terrier in its prime will bounce out the kennel the next morning expecting ,wanting to go again . Playing it by ear is the way to retire a terrier for good and concentrate on the new entries.
  3. For some of the lads on here, digging is hard comeby and even harder to keep following certain moves by our government. You will be doing well to get an invite I fear .
  4. Ditch-As someone who USED to pin insects I feel I should tell you how I attracted moths, which would work for the perfect photo opportunitie . Take one WHITE bed sheet and hang it over a washing line in half .Attach cord to the 4 corners and peg out to form a "tent".Stand a chair underneath it with a lead light on it ,the type used in car repair .Mix up some sugar/honey water and sprinkle it on the sheet .Do not pour on as it looks like piss stains The light works as your moon and the sweet water acts to keep them there .The white background is the perfect backdrop for pics .
  5. Its all very well giving advice on wounds to a stranger but it matters a hell of a lot on what sort of wound it is .If its a puncture wound then DO NOT use peroxide in any strength as it will kill tissue as well as bacteria. I bathe the dog using teetree shampoo and allow the dog to shake itself ,the action of which expels any water trapped inside thus leaving a clean hole.A bad puncture wound needs to be dealt with from the inside by the correct use of antibiotics . A slash wound that dosnt require stitching is best kept clean with salt water ,any slash over 1inch is deemed stitchable in my
  6. Recharge? If geven at the right time then this is a good fluid/energy replacement This sort of thing was in fashion around me 10 years ago and used before a night /day out but people realized it has the ability to mask injuries and faded out .I know your not doing it mate but dont be tempted to run the dog on instant energy .
  7. Good advice. Its the time of year mate.Wipe the pups eyes gently before applying but not with same bit of cloth as one eye can clear up before the other and you re-infect .
  8. Ill swap you a day is a wet ,windy pigeon hide for one of those golden days on the duck . :11: Only joking ,I love it .Good luck mate .
  9. Mate -If its early application stage ,then he will probably ask you if you want any more calibres added .Jump at the chance as a variation is charged each time you add to the ticket .If he dosnt ask then ask him .Get each calibre ok for a moderator too .Remember ,the modifier is for the noise effect to other people and not to shoot more .
  10. Foxhunter -No such luxuries down here mate .You'll work for the shot :11: .Nice buck though mate .
  11. Mate had a first cross and it was mustard on the big stuff but never got the hang of turning ,stooping on a rabbit .Sorry but no pics .
  12. From what I can see ,shes not making it any tighter :11: .Talk about a G-string ,That feckers a G- rope in D minor . :11:
  13. The 2 ive had have been mustard on the foxes .Slow to pick up lamping .Not good with strange dogs of any size ,muzzled in public .IMO they are second only to bullx for fox killing .
  14. Thats what this site is about .Helping each other [as well as taking the piss]Nice terrier that .
  15. Seems to be a really bad year for the feckers .Check dogs as they come back from an outing .
  16. The guys that criticize on here have a bad case of tunnel vision .Terrier -digging ,lurcher -lamping .The role of my terriers and lurchers has overlapped many a time .If a fox bolts and appears to be slow moving and a terrier is behind it do you shout the little one back and slip the lurcher ,of course not.I lamp terriers along with the lurcher ,purely for fitness.Too many terrier owners ignore the fitness side and work the dog from box to hole and back to kennel to await the next outing.Mine catch the odd rabbit as it heads back to the bury and several foxes have met a little dog at night too
  17. The feeding of flesh for any carnivore has to be the right thing or they wouldnt be adapted this way .Concentrated foods of any sort cat, dog, ferret rely on the animal drinking vast amounts of water to flush out toxins used in the manufacturing .Binding ,preserving ,colouring and flavouring agents all added in concentrate form to provide easy feeding for uninformed owners . Carcass not only provides the perfect dietry needs but also allows a certain amount of feather, fur to be ingested which is the natural gut cleaner .An animal fed on flesh will have far more stamina than its saw-dust fed c
  18. Probably depends on what area you live in as disease is localalized.Never had a dead ferret so cant comment but seen the vets reports on some post mortems of other keepers .
  19. Take her out ,on your own and see..........................
