    One of the local hunts is adament that they will slip one of thes on a fox ,this coming season .Personally I have my doubts whether they are up to the job .What are your valued thoughts on this . Cheers -foxdropper .

    Had a look out with the .222 at a local farm where theyve had a bit of trouble with foxes amongst ducks .This is a regular thing as the trouble is ongoing ,the farmer not the sharpest tool in the box and refuses to lock up fowl until he goes to bed !.Most of the population is lamp shy now so will be dug later .This individual ,however came belting in to my squeek and realised at 20yds he had made a big mistake and made a "U" turn just as fast.I always treat every fox as if its my last and so got the scope on him as he moved off .Maintaining a lead ,I squeezed off a round and was pleased to see

    IMHO It does not matter what terrier you start with mate .No doubt you are around people with experience that can guide you ,whatever your choice .In most cases a terrier is what you make it anyway .The most important thing is to get it from stock that suits your idea of what you want .

    The more I read this section of the hunting life ,the more I'm convinced that not many actually run lurchers but still have an opinion on the subject .Some small lurchers WILL take fallow.I'v seen it .Those that know me on here will know Im straight down the line -tell it as it is.I owned a 22" terrier x lurcher that had 3 fallow does and a young buck single handed not all at once I might add but spread out over her career.Its the same with any dog ,any quarry -if the dog wants it bad enough then a result is on the cards .Back to the thread and I see no reason why a saluki wouldnt take a fallo

    The times I hear about people squeaking on the BACK of the hand .Learn to use the inside of the thumb-forefinger joint and create a multitude of different squeaks yourself .By opening and closing the hand you can add another dozen or so .Foxes that are so called call shy CAN be called by someone who knows what their doing .

    Personally ,I'd go for the wasp theory .They are always chewing our fence and bare a large patch in no time .

    Been seeing a lot more ravens over our part of Wiltshire,considering they were absent 2-3 years ago .No known nests this year but a keeper had one in a larsen so they must be thinking of setting up territories.
