  1. Did you get him from Nuttal or someone else mate .Just interested in the pure Nuttal statement .Any history ?Questions aside ,I like him a lot .
  2. Heart worm is very localised but none-the -less lethal to ferrets, especially youngsters . .I would go with Millet on the distemper thing as this causes drastic weight loss plus if its anything like in dogs ,not all ferrets in a compound will get it .Isnt there a ferret jab about now ?."Advocate" small capsules shared between several ferrets will see off heart worm in the early stages .
  3. From experience, mink can easily be reared by a lactating ferret.Agility wise they run rings around the ferrets in an aviary and change sleeping quarters daily .
  4. Unless you have a lot of dogs coming and going, a bitch about to whelp or unless you have real filth to clear up I cant see an advantage in using any disinfectant. Your dogs and ferrets will have resistance to most of the bugs around and their inocculations should protect them against the real killers like distemper and parvo. The disinfectant costs money and has the potential to cause skin, lung and eye problems for the dogs and induce resistance in the bugs. Simple physical removal of dirt and waste- i.e. washing down and brushing out etc ought to do the job. Keep the kennels spotlessly clea
  5. In this game [hunting with dogs ] its easy to think you have the best of something and defend it vigorously, but then the day comes when you see another lads dogs work and it shakes your beliefs right out the window .Never saw the offensive posts but I know what its like to be jealous!.Thankfully now ,Im on a par with the lads and getting better every year .Must be stressful sometimes Ian . .
  6. Mate -It is best to vary any use of disenfectants because no single brand does it all and bacteria and viruses can and will build up immunity to constant use of one product .Personally ,I switch between bleach of any brand ,vircon S,and iodine .There is currantly an upserge in the parvo -virus so hygiene has never been so important as it is now .
  7. Only the lurcher boys that need the black ,windy nights .Same as you blokes ,Ive had fox on every night condition ,including a real pea souper of a night when I was just glad to be out .Sat in the hedge with the lamp on permanent and squeaked .A fox came eventually to within several yards.
  8. Cubs mostly bones by now .Some wiley adults awaiting the attention of that ,243 though .Roll on November eh .
  9. Good do mate .Your dogs looking top fettle .
  10. The first pic is of a fallow mate ,a yearling too .Roughly 2-3 hours behind it ..The pic with your hand is a fallow too but a poor condition beast ,possibly old ..Roughly a day behind it . .Both deer walking .On damp soil such as this ,a deer running shows a forward slide and a backward divet of earth as it left the hoof . .Deer naturally spread the hoof on damp ground .The first pic looks to be an over trod mark onto another ,larger beast ,but not made together . The droppings are fallow mate too .Good tracking .
  11. A mental note has been made of who I would and would not spend a day with . :11: I agree with those who want a terrier for earth work only.Coupled til the time is deemed right by myself and not a free ranging terrier .Ratting necetates terriers off the lead but can still end in dogs getting to ground in places freshly dug out .IMO a terrier wanted for bushing only should be discouraged from going to ground .Ive seen terriers in the beating line that I have dug to and Ive cringed as we aproach a known place ,woundering if the dog will obey its master or not .Terriers on couples are not just th
  12. Carrying a pound or not mate she got where another ,smaller dog failed .
  13. 12-bore ,good allround shot gun from snipe to the mighty canada goose .Try a few for fit mate .Dont worry about the name .You can learn to shoot with the lowly baikal ,then move to a better model as funds allow .
  14. NUTTALL... MIDDLETON...RESPECTING THERE DOGS AS WORKERS??????YOUR HAVING A LAUGH MATE!!!!!!!!!! And what type ,breed of dog do you work ,respect ?.
  15. I think the original question was about fashion ?. Look how quickly a thread turns into " my dog does this "and my dog does that ".Stick to the question or start another thread .The bullx is not the brightest but would have a higher I.Q than most on here .
  16. You'd have thought it would of been one of the big killers though ,tagged by a cobra or drowned by a nile croc, not stung by a sting ray .Perhaps complacency got the better in the end ?.Very entertaining shows though .
  17. i could be someone off this site sick to death of looking at pictures of dead foxes Or jealous members who never the chance to photograph a fox dead or alive . :11: :11:
  18. Unfortunately, the jrt is a minority working breed now mate .Some working examples about though .Eddie Chapman the man for this although Im not sure about the parson bit ?
  19. Cub hunting in Dorset Saturday. Meet was 6.00 am on a drizzly, windy morning .Hounds moved off on exercise which took them through a patch of maize out the back of kennels .By accident they roused a brace and a half of foxes which were soon on the move .Huntsmen upped the pace of the exercise which took hounds in a similar direction to the last fox out of cover .Hounds played hide and seek with the fox for a while before the fox wanted to play no more and found a dry bury to get in out the rain which was now heavy .Unfortunately ,he had chose a bury in pheasant country which meant he was now le
  20. The bull thing is hopefully a fashion thing -there has been an upsurge in muscled dogs for the show ring and these seem to be winning .When the fashion is over ,and it will end ,then the boys that work these dogs can get on without being pestered for pups .Rough coats turn next I feel .
  21. Nelson -Are you 100% sure both parents are Nuttal bred mate .Any pics of dam/sire .
