  1. Mate -If its early application stage ,then he will probably ask you if you want any more calibres added .Jump at the chance as a variation is charged each time you add to the ticket .If he dosnt ask then ask him .Get each calibre ok for a moderator too .Remember ,the modifier is for the noise effect to other people and not to shoot more .
  2. Foxhunter -No such luxuries down here mate .You'll work for the shot :11: .Nice buck though mate .
  3. Mate had a first cross and it was mustard on the big stuff but never got the hang of turning ,stooping on a rabbit .Sorry but no pics .
  4. From what I can see ,shes not making it any tighter :11: .Talk about a G-string ,That feckers a G- rope in D minor . :11:
  5. The 2 ive had have been mustard on the foxes .Slow to pick up lamping .Not good with strange dogs of any size ,muzzled in public .IMO they are second only to bullx for fox killing .
  6. Thats what this site is about .Helping each other [as well as taking the piss]Nice terrier that .
  7. Seems to be a really bad year for the feckers .Check dogs as they come back from an outing .
  8. The guys that criticize on here have a bad case of tunnel vision .Terrier -digging ,lurcher -lamping .The role of my terriers and lurchers has overlapped many a time .If a fox bolts and appears to be slow moving and a terrier is behind it do you shout the little one back and slip the lurcher ,of course not.I lamp terriers along with the lurcher ,purely for fitness.Too many terrier owners ignore the fitness side and work the dog from box to hole and back to kennel to await the next outing.Mine catch the odd rabbit as it heads back to the bury and several foxes have met a little dog at night too
  9. The feeding of flesh for any carnivore has to be the right thing or they wouldnt be adapted this way .Concentrated foods of any sort cat, dog, ferret rely on the animal drinking vast amounts of water to flush out toxins used in the manufacturing .Binding ,preserving ,colouring and flavouring agents all added in concentrate form to provide easy feeding for uninformed owners . Carcass not only provides the perfect dietry needs but also allows a certain amount of feather, fur to be ingested which is the natural gut cleaner .An animal fed on flesh will have far more stamina than its saw-dust fed c
  10. Probably depends on what area you live in as disease is localalized.Never had a dead ferret so cant comment but seen the vets reports on some post mortems of other keepers .
  11. Take her out ,on your own and see..........................
  12. tha's get some fist if tha's caught on my land . :11: :11: :11:
  13. Puuuuurfectly within your rights to shoot a cat that is seen hunting where you have game birds ,collared or not .
  14. Did you get him from Nuttal or someone else mate .Just interested in the pure Nuttal statement .Any history ?Questions aside ,I like him a lot .
  15. Heart worm is very localised but none-the -less lethal to ferrets, especially youngsters . .I would go with Millet on the distemper thing as this causes drastic weight loss plus if its anything like in dogs ,not all ferrets in a compound will get it .Isnt there a ferret jab about now ?."Advocate" small capsules shared between several ferrets will see off heart worm in the early stages .
  16. From experience, mink can easily be reared by a lactating ferret.Agility wise they run rings around the ferrets in an aviary and change sleeping quarters daily .
  17. Unless you have a lot of dogs coming and going, a bitch about to whelp or unless you have real filth to clear up I cant see an advantage in using any disinfectant. Your dogs and ferrets will have resistance to most of the bugs around and their inocculations should protect them against the real killers like distemper and parvo. The disinfectant costs money and has the potential to cause skin, lung and eye problems for the dogs and induce resistance in the bugs. Simple physical removal of dirt and waste- i.e. washing down and brushing out etc ought to do the job. Keep the kennels spotlessly clea
  18. In this game [hunting with dogs ] its easy to think you have the best of something and defend it vigorously, but then the day comes when you see another lads dogs work and it shakes your beliefs right out the window .Never saw the offensive posts but I know what its like to be jealous!.Thankfully now ,Im on a par with the lads and getting better every year .Must be stressful sometimes Ian . .
  19. Mate -It is best to vary any use of disenfectants because no single brand does it all and bacteria and viruses can and will build up immunity to constant use of one product .Personally ,I switch between bleach of any brand ,vircon S,and iodine .There is currantly an upserge in the parvo -virus so hygiene has never been so important as it is now .
  20. Only the lurcher boys that need the black ,windy nights .Same as you blokes ,Ive had fox on every night condition ,including a real pea souper of a night when I was just glad to be out .Sat in the hedge with the lamp on permanent and squeaked .A fox came eventually to within several yards.
  21. Cubs mostly bones by now .Some wiley adults awaiting the attention of that ,243 though .Roll on November eh .
