  1. Anybody finding fox to ground yet .We covered a fair area Saturday and saw plenty of sign but no mark from the lurcher at all.Put one out a hedge and it ran towards a bury but skipped on by unfortunately with the marksman unsighted .Needs a few frosts me thinks ?.
  2. Nice one Ditch .What gets me is the fact that cats are allowed to roam free whereas your dog is not .If the cat should get killed by a dog whilst out free in the country side then as far as Im concerned thats fair play and a result .My last lurcher was a specialist on the subject .
  3. [quote name='matulkoh' date= be sure that there is no dog able to kill a huge badger undergroung. See you back-tracked on that issue then Matulkoh. Not so long back you stated dachshunds were doing the bizz.To be a good liar requires a better memory, pity Plummers gone as you could have talked shit for weeks .Pinnochio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. We are talking about 2 different products then .The stuff Im on about is a green powder ,MIXED WITH WARM WATER,and is an electrolyte .IT ALSO CONTAINS FRUCTOSE AND A SUCROSE BASED FLAVOURING WHICH IS ENERGY.
  5. Valerio-Perhaps the standard of terrier is dropping in your country due to all this doubling up .We still have good dogs well capable of the real deal single handed so look closer to home before you want to improve ours .
  6. Got to be honest mate ,they are in the main very jealous workers ,one owner dogs and can take offence easy .On the plus side ,I wouldnt have another type as they suit me .Hard to kennel together even dog/bitch.
  7. Always a bonus when they feed well and are excepted by the other dogs .Im a firm believer in that a pup mimics its elders in kennel and if your other dogs dont bark ,howl then she wont .Nice strong pup mate .
  8. The voice is to guide the lurchers as to a possible bolt and to push quarry forward .
  9. Having some knowledge of this mate ,Vets are not allowed to administer lethal drugs ANYWHERE without first establishing a means of carcass disposal .Its the law .A clean up team is usually on the way if a vet has been called to a roadside casualty.
  10. Hope you will be very happy there Molly and by the sound of things you are .All the best -foxdropper .
  11. Mate -if your switching to raw from another food ,say dry then its imperitive that you introduce slowly ,especially a pup .Increase the amount of raw slowly per day and this means mincing it and allowing it to stand for a while mixed with the dry .The dry will absorb some fluid off the raw and hopefully will not be left in the dish .Incease slowly until the pup is on raw only then feed as it comes .A propper raw diet as I know it will only contain 20% bone .You need to remove the bone to achieve this .In the case of a pup its not good practice to let them gourge at one sitting .Stomach upsets
  12. Quality day out lads .Cant beat the combination of terriers ,hounds, lurchers .This cubbing is hard work aint it but someones got to do it . :11:
  13. An older dog in straight swap please .The lads getting major grief from his boss .Thanks to all those who sent pms, appreciated .
  14. Bitumen sheets are false ecenomy as they warp easily in the summer no matter how many fixings.Go for the ply roof and mineral felt top mate .2 layers .
  15. Dito that mate .A day or so of nothing sees me feeling ill, empty and irritable .Its in the blood and there to stay .
  16. Somewhere in between me .Talk to anyone but soon get the measure of them ,good or bad .Youngsters are encouraged ,old experts listened to then seive through the bits of info I deem worth hearing .Dont be scared of telling someone they are talking bollocks if you know damn well they are .You will be respected for it .
  17. I realise this is a tall order but I wouldnt ask if it wasnt necessary .A mate in hunt service urgently needs a steady baying type terrier.Hard dog waiting for straight swap.No messers, no piss takers please .Any breed welcome .
  18. Thats some collection there fella .Best keep that safe you hear .
  19. The upshot of it is this .Scars are no reference to the dogs ability to stay till dug season after season .A dogs first experience to ground can produce bad results ,Ive seen it ,with the dog refusing to look at a hole for a long time after. To look at him you would at first glance of thought the dog was a regular but not so.The dog eventually worked but too far back from quarry.Whether the dog sticks to the game is in its make up .Fair play to you boys if the terriers a good 'un though and I like the head shot too .
  20. Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong but ivometin was once the main ingredient of a sheep dip.Shepherds/farmers used to put the collie in last and submerge it with the crook. The dog injested large amounts of the stuff and some died as a result .This is where the tale comes from .If shepherds used poodles instead of collies the same result would have happened .Ivomectin is only safe if you know what you are doing or are shown by someone who does .Better products available to those who only dabble in dog health .
  21. Just goes to show the difference in regions of firearms officers .The chap who came to me couldnt do enough and even pursuaded me to add calibres Ive no intention of using .He showed me a chart of bullet sizes and basically said pick what you want .A mate of mine was applying at the same time and he knew this .When I asked for the 243,he said ok as long as my mate was my experienced stalker ?.Later learnt that he told my mate the same regarding me and his 243 ?.Because of the number of shot guns I have and the proposed number of firearms I applied for ,I needed a security system fitted ,which
  22. You can go on all day about the bull cross being a rabbitter but its not .Ive owned bullx and small lurcher types all my life and the smaller dog make the bulls look silly on rabbit .The bull cross was intended as a fox ,draw dog and excells at this .No such thing as an allrounder .You have to ask yourself if you really need all that power to catch a few rabbits.
  23. The first cross I know of was very easy to train ,almost to field trial ,gun dog style. It was very puppyish for a long time ,almost 2 1/2 years before it settled down .Takes deer in open fields with style and ease .Once saw it clear a very wide ditch on a course and gained twenty yards in doing so .The urge to guard is strong ,with all family members .Its nose is first class and is a 100% marker to a fox .The feet are large and not double toed .The coat is harsh and needs grooming .The down side to it is that its not mine :11:
