    Ive had that with the t8 on my .243 .Same lamp .So you say to put this right ,i need to block out the light that is reflecting on the back of the mod .I will try it .Cheers .

    Dito that last comment mate.The scope cover is a bit over the top IMO but down to personal choice i guess .The harris 11inch to 25 is my choice as it covers all shots from prone to kneeling . Good luck with your sport mate .

    This afternoon i decided on a visit to a farm that has a fair population f roe but they tend to travel between this farm and next door so its a bit hit and miss as far as stalking goes .Havnt been out here for a while so hopes were high .The usual holding spot is a large field with a pylon in the middle ,a swamp down the bottem and a earth bank to one side ,I approached this area cautiously and had a good glass spotting only a buck in the next field ,a good buck too[ so where was he a month ago ].Skirted around the area to do a boundary walk whereby i can view well ahead and take in every fiel

    The resent pm from admin has hands tied in regards to saying things as they are but please -Lets see pics of terriers WORKING to ground and not just on couples .I know every youngster has to start somewhere but you are asking for a hard time by parading mutiple terriers that havnt seen a thing .I for one would love to see a coloured terrier up close and personal in a pic so please ,lets have one and put this stupid Plummer shite thing to bed .     No work on at the moment so decided on a day out with the rifle .Pulled up a spot that i havnt decided whether or not i like yet as its been a none producer for me .Arrived at 7am ,just as the first dung spreader set off across the fields towards the area i was to stalk .Oh well i was here so a boundary walk was in order . This area is part of a large valley really but i only have the one side ,134 acers sloping down to a railway line .     Nice to see a few red and white terriers at a dig but would be nice to see a bit of dirt on one though .Not an argument starter but a simple statement .Why not try one to ground keeps .I for one would love to see a dog of that type with a bit of work on its face ,honest .

    Just got back in .Had a call from a farmer today to ask if i could wipe out the feral pest in his barns as hes had an inspection recently and they were mentioned .Went down with josh off the site and my boy to have a look .Weve thinned them out here before but now its zero tolerance time .Shot a few in the cubicle shed but got into them in the next shed that holds the dry cows .A few managed to fly out into the darkness but returned later to be added to the tally.Josh uses a weirach hw80 and my boy and me use the crossman ratcatcher ,both in .22.Had most in the next shed though above some sila

    Although the various courses and the associated moneys spent are undoubtedly a bonus for getting started it is by no means the only way mate .Get to know a local stalker and spend time with him and hopefully you will learn the same if not more than paying the absurd prices now asked .There is no legal requirement for these courses in order to own a fullbore .Apply for your deer rife ,then tell the f.e. c you have a mentor .

    Does make you laugh though .Had the same once when a cop car pulled up a lane we were in and accused us of badger digging .We were ferreting a two holer and had a lurcher running loose .I asked the first copper if he knew what a ferret was but the blank look said it all .My mate then said that although we had tried ,we couldnt get the lurcher to go to ground .It got a bit embarrassing when the ferret appeared and the copper asked why the dog hadnt killed it ,being as we were out after ferrets .This is what we are up against ,even wildlife officers can make blunders as follows .We were ferretti

    Back now .Thanks for all the replies lads ,appreciated .Fate determined that it wasnt to happen as i lost my wallet ,or had it stolen at Animal Kingdom and the wife ,quite rightly so, said we;d better save the money in case we needed it . The way it was explained to me was that me and the guide would be in a hide from last light to midnight ,no lamp just the stars to shoot by, .270 with no silencer as they are illegal over there .Sows free but boars charged according to size. Will probably get over there again so will try then .

    Just as a footnote to this . It is now illegal to release non indigenous gamebirds and this includes guineafowl .A few estates i know of locally have had checks recently by the enviroment agency no less .Birds deemed to be non indigenous were on this years cull card !Fines are coming in too. The indigenous species that may be released are -English ringneck,Michegan blue,Melanistic and cross breeds of both pheasant types. Partridges include the English and French red leg but not the Chukar .
