  1. I must say i prefer the extended bipod to anything else but dont take long shots due to this fecking cateract on my right eye .Hopefully get it seen to shortly .
  2. When my foxing days were at an all time high ,250+ a year ,then we used an insinerator on a chicken farm .Sadly those days are gone but the insinerator is still there for me .
  3. Cheers for those pics foxy .Yes it was some beautiful ground for the deer .Thanks again mate .
  4. Deker mate .Since you and i got our tickets ,many moons ago SOME police forces in their wisdom have introduced a period of probation for new applicants.A current fac holer has to baby sit the chap for a specified period and then write ,in length ,to the force in question about the way the applicant veiws safety ,quarry and other meaningful stuff .Just think yourself lucky mate as they can refuse a grant on the word of a mentor .
  5. Wish we had sika around us but the roe keep me busy .
  6. Nice buck there snapshot .If you want sport ,then sometimes you have to travel .
  7. well done remmy .Our roe are still in summer coat here in Wiltshire .
  8. Travelled up to County Durham from Wiltshire last Wednesday to spend a few days on Foxhunters ground .After a cup of tea and something to eat we were straight out lamping .We went to a place that has had big problems with foxes in the past with both sheep and gamebirds becoming prey .Made our way to a high point and i had a squeak .A fox showed the other side of a small streamand ran in to us very fast .It stopped at the stream edge and couldnt get through the sheep netting .Making its way down the fence,it found a way and was soon only 50 yds from us but making its way down wind and around
  9. Called in last night ,on a small holding that has a few hens in a coop by the side of a beef unit .Saw the farmer earlier on in the week and he said that one or two foxes were getting about despite our efforts in the spring .I know as well as anyone else will that now is the time of year when cubs will be extending their nightly patrols and sure enough it was a this years cub that had the misfortune to be around the coop .Saw the eyes as i pulled in to the yard and slowly eased the .222 from the case, loaded up ,switched on the light force and shot it at about 60 yards .No need to call or s
  10. A pretty face is a head turner for me,as is a good cleavage of the right sort .Not too big but not too small and definately not false .From behind, she needs to sway gently at the hips and any stockings need to be taught over skin .Eyes tell the story of whether shes been through the mill so to speak as does the width of gusset .In conversation she needs to be my equal not my better .A cheeky sense of humour is a must, for instance -When first courting my wife ,we were walking along a river bank in summer when i looked up and said "swallow"to which she relied yes with a grin ,now i know one
  11. Nice one mate ,teeth dont look too bad to me ,although top plate is worn flat .Did you weigh him at all not that it matters .
  12. Good going mate .I was watching a buck following a doe at work today and was captivated as usual .
  13. V-max -I guessed at him being about 7 old by the teeth and general appearance but the back was pretty much straight and he carried himself well .Anyway thanks for the comments .
  14. Invited down to Martins ground this evening for a stalk followed by a shine out .Martin has recently been granted the use of a centrefire ,namely the .243 on a patch of ground he has had for a while and being the gentleman that he is ,he invited me to share the first time out .He had previously seen a buck here and told me exactly where he would be and its action if disturbed .The ground in question is a sloping aspect down towards a road .We stalked down to a small spinney and Martin set me up in a position that overlooked the bottem of a sloping field ,just off the point of the spinney whils
  15. Both my mate and myself use the win subs and find them the best we have tried and their reasonably priced too .Mate has the cz ,5 shot and i have the ruger 10/22.Regularly shoot rabbits out to just beyond the 100 yard mark ,when on form . Confidence in ammo is a great boost and sows the seed for good shooting .Well done mate
  16. As usual ,you pair have succeded again .Bet them roe were glad it was dark Save a few for me mate or next spring you can sit in a high seat down here for 4 days solid .
  17. We start our youngsters on rats ,purely to boost confidence for when they start work propperly. Some will say that a good dogs will start on fox but ive seen a enough knockbacks to re-inforce the reason for starting the pup on lesser stuff . I used to put a pup straight to charlie but after a few bad jackers ,which in hindsite was probably the dogs in question ,we now bring them up winning right up until their first dig .What happens then is up to the dog .You cant win them all and its silly to think you can .Its just a pisser to think about all the time spent on training and feeding plus you
  18. he worked before he showed them and at 1 point everybody had or wanted a middleton lakie.the question in hand is why x breed its to improve up to him if he wanted to make money from it.least these men have got books to there name they all proved thereselfs before hand dont see any of your books around sunbeam Sunbeam -yes i suppose i am a ray of light . Mate ,dont treat everything you read as gospel as you'll end up as deluded and self righteous as some of those that write them .
  19. So your saying that Middleton took advantage of the strong jawed fox terrier to improve the working quality of the lakies he owned .Right mate ,its all clear now ,say no more .Nothing to do with the fact that fox terriers had by then been accepted by the fecking kennel club and anyway middleton wasnt the first to use fox terrier .Let me quess, a quick character run down would suggest a teenager with an extensive Sean Frain collection .Maybe wrong about the teenager
  20. nothing wrong with improving? improving what ffs... looks for the show ring... gave them bigger heads and stronger jaw in the show ring ... sounds good... wtf fox terriers ars the original working dog before the rest came along.considered a bit big for the job in hand so x bread with a smaller breed to make it harder if it was never done terriers wouldnt be the same today its all aboot improving Original and best ,thats why theres loads about now .Cant move at the shows for quality working fox terriers .That dream died a century ago mate .
  21. telling me you could breed any better no chance Middleton never created the lakie mate ,he took an already tested breed and tried to smarten it up for show plus work .He saw a few pound signs when the dogs bred towards the show side and used 'pedigree' stuff to hammer the final nail in .Theres a few breeders of lakie stuff about these days that dont owe anything to middleton thankfully . he did create some of the best and am sure there are folk out there that have middleton lakies that will match the best workers around Aye ,ive seen some really picking there feet up prop
  22. Just to recap there Gazza .Are you saying that middleton stuff has been improved of late by crossing or are you saying it was once improved before he got hold of it ?.
  23. telling me you could breed any better no chance Middleton never created the lakie mate ,he took an already tested breed and tried to smarten it up for show plus work .He saw a few pound signs when the dogs bred towards the show side and used 'pedigree' stuff to hammer the final nail in .Theres a few breeders of lakie stuff about these days that dont owe anything to middleton thankfully .
  24. nothing wrong with improving? Not wanting to give anyone a history lesson but -The fox terrier added to the lakie was already in decline mate and was used purely for looks and nothing else .
