    kayak fishing

Yes! Excellent way to access waters that shore-bound and motor boat anglers cannot. Good for float trips and camping. Cheers, Mark

    Pigeon recipies...

Wood pigeon are a relative to our dove. This is the traditional way we do dove round our parts. A previous post in this forum: jalepeno, cheese, onion, bacon wrapped dove Night before last I used this recipe: dove in madeira sauce A bit labor intensive but unbelievably good! I used 1/2 the recommended amount of butter. The second half of our split dove season has just started and I hope to get a few more. Cheers, Mark

    Couple of Pics

Those are very nice pics. Enjoy these innocent times while you can. Before you know it you're standing around a campfire with your little angel, drinking beers and discussing the best method to gut a deer. Cheers, Mark

    West Texas Deer

Thanks for everyone's kind comments. I very much enjoy reading your accounts of deer hunts and seeing the pics. Corn feeder used to bait them in for selective/humane harvest. Illegal in some areas of TX and other states. We stuff a 20lb bag of ice in the body cavity and wrap'em in a tarp until we get to the processor. A couple things: 1. This hunt was more about management and meat than sporting. We've got a lot of deer here. The farmer down the road has two miles of deer fencing to keep them out of his wheat and cotton. My annual hunting/fishing license ($68) allows me to shoot five whitetail deer and two mule deer in addition to other game. 2. This property is so rough and thick with thorny vegetation that stalking and recovery would be very low percentage. See where the stand is located in relation to the feeder. It's impossible to walk straight down (120 yards). We had to loop around on a dirt track (1 mile) to recover the deer. You've got to worry about all the goddamned rattlesnakes too! Cheers, Mark

A lot of those old military rifles are really a nice piece of history. You hold it and wonder about where it's been and about the soldier using it to defend your country. What are you going to use it for? Post a pic for us. Cheers, Mark
