Any time you fancy a dig we can discuss the matter mate .i have plenty to go at and ill even bring the dogs if your concerned about where we will put them .I will explain each dogs pedigree to you and how,why it was arrived at .If you are a bit dim i will tell you have no worries ,a spade is a spade after all.Its now clear from your posts that you know a bit more than i first gave you credit for .However knowing is only ever half the job ,putting it into practice is another as is culling what you know is a failure .What you failed to explain in your opening post ,you write of a strain achieve

listen my friend would you have the balls to speak to someone like you do face to face or do you just let insults flow of the computer, line breeding might be inbreeding with a plan to you but what most people think of that as grandfather to grandaughter or uncle to niece breeding where i am talking about intense inbreeding as in what they do with pit dogs, game fowl, the jersey cow , and as they intensely inbred the stock improves and yes as you say you do have to adapt if things start to go wrong but i cant talk to you anymore. you are the sort of person that thinks he is put on the earth to

What youve described is the basic start to a LINE,mate but what about a backup if this goes tits up .Smart lads have another underlying plan to fall back on should your stud not be what it is on paper ,dosnt gell with bitch or gets killed .I fully understand the need for knowledge but a little can be harmful .Better to spend time with a lad thats doing it ,look at his pedigree and see what worked .
-
look mate,You can inbreed for years ,decades to produce what we call a line .The overall planned breeding thats gets you to where you are now is known by the whole dog world as LINEBREEDING .Get that word in your head and we can discuss ,almost like adults but keep calling it inbreeding and the insults will flow .
-
If a lad is starting out which i believe is the knowledge required then the dog used should be line bred and be throwing consistent workers .To start with a scatter bred is to court failure from day one .Just as well use a farm collie .The bitch to a foundation stock should from the same line or close .The bitch pups from this first mating will be your broods and put back to the base dog .What you do then is personal preference but always look to the base dog for continuation.look to the future as nothing lives forever and studs need replacing .Lots more to it but im not writing a book just ye

At the risk of getting a pasting from froggy whatsit ,the dogs linage is everything ,A bitch becomes one of your broods providing she is tested and of sound temperament.A dog that consistently throws workers is the foundation to all good lines .Starting out ,the advice of the breeder should be followed to the letter but as you move on,youll get to know what works over what .STARTING FROM SCRATCH WITH AN UNKNOWN IS POT LUCK AND IMO A WASTE OF RESOURCE AND TIME[YEARS ] Im not arguing im discussing this with before you jump too it, It does not matter which way round you do it as both parents

Lets get this straight .You say Gouldy bred the base stock to most most black dogs that work .Must of missed that bit of history mate ,Too busy breeding my own .You have obviously been infuenced by someone to the point of brainwash .All he did was take a line and continue it which is what many lads have done .

I said i was done here but this fool is winding me up .Inbreeding is the mating of ANY related animals.Line breeding is the controlled version of this . Father to daughter is the base start line .what you do thereafter is down to to what your aims are . Your origin of the black dog is a few decades out too.Probably down to your age and those you look up to.

Got the meaure of you from the outset pal and its clear your not too far advanced in the brain area .I wont be explaining anything as its clear to me you are one of those twats that knows it all and seeks to educate those who really do know far more about it than your ever likely to.last post on the issue

You need a planof what you aim you aim to achieve and how to go about it but need to adapt as things move on .Been doing it 27 years so i might know a bit by now.lol.The main thing is keeping records as to what gelled with what and how to produce that again and again.Recessive genes work both ways producing good workers as well as misfits when the match is slightly wrong .inbreeding as i see it is the unintention union of related animals.

Your talking a load of bollocks mate which is why i never went ito too deep .
-
Your wording is all wrong mate.Im hoping this isnt wasted on you but here goes .Inbreeding is a term used by those who do not understand linedreeding. To go into it would be too much too soon for you i feel insofar as to say outcrossing is very necessary to stop blood becoming too tight ,as long as you know as much about the outcross as the man that bred him and it owes at least one trace to your own .To stay too tight has the unfortunate drawback of excentuating defects that come to the forefront through recessive genes and usually spells the end of further linebreeding .Record keeping is a

I had that problem too ,not the dog me ,and yes he will grow out of it .

Thinking Of Giving Up Terriers For Spaniels
Squirrel_Basher replied to lucas dog's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
To be proper honest mate if your heart aint in it then get out ,too many in the game for wrong reasons -
Anybody breeding any stock of any worth in this game will be line breeding .The trick is knowing when to outcross and to what .Line breeding is basically inbreeding to a plan .

The Recent Ratting Outing
Squirrel_Basher replied to Squirrel_Basher's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Farmer reckons it costs him 8 grand a year to feed rats .He also lost 2500 chickens from what was put in the sheds ,some to rats ,some to natural and the rest to foxes soon to be addressed with a snaring campaign. The amount of eggs the rats take and hide in the shit has to be seen to be believed.
