    Used two separate quarter bred outcrosses mate so pretty diluted when I worked them .Theres a lad I know used to keep pat/bulls in varying degrees of dilution and he worked them all .Got to see them first hand and have to say you wouldn’t turn one down .If we are to believe the old books ,pics and gossip ,all the black types had bull infusion so no getting away from it really . I was never interested in the first cross but a bit of bull never did any harm that’s for sure .     Got rid of all the silver fish in my pond .Had roach ,bream and rudd and a 3 pound perch that’s recently died ..Removed loads and the koi have doubled in size .Recently put a few crayfish in and they mullered them . Theres an 8 pound tench in mine too .Get pics up when it’s clear .

    Without filtration or UV to kill algae you are never going to have clear water .Need a circulation too or you will end up with sediment in a corner building up .Just been out and dragged a load of silk weed out so not best time to show clear water but give it a day and I’ll post pics .Here is my setup and a few visible koi .Theres 2 x 20 pound grass carp and a 18 pound mirror in there too .

    Koi will live in any old water mate .Dont listen to the shite spouted by so called experts .Ive had koi all my married life in a pond with a basic vortex filter and pump .Ive got a secondary filter as well but probably not needed .I like a natural looking pond so plants and lilies etc and they seem to like it ,growing to 2 foot some of them .Have to clean it few times a year but no hardship .This year been a pain with silk weed but I won’t be chemical treating just physically removing it as it blooms .The cloudy water comes from either over feeding or the UV filter needs replacing .Our pond is

    Very windy last night but managed 30 odd rats which takes the tally to 1028 in 16 outings .Rats a bit jumpy about the IR now which I thought would happen .Terriers next when they move the shed . Saw a huge rat last night but he ran in when the IR was on him . Had a fox as well before rain stopped play .
