  1. Just for fun only.........guess the footprint........not a particularly good example but should be easy enough. Rolfe.

  3. You can get them from here...... http://www.killgerm.com/ or search the internet you may find them a lot cheaper.
  4. I have just been putting up a few Elgeeco squirrel cages in some woodland where i have a contract to control the greys. I noticed a few young greys about a few days ago........these are reletively easy to entice into the cages as they are naturally inquisitive.........unlike the adults that can prove wary at times.
  5. No.......not Albino.........just a local mutation in colour...........we have loads around here Sandy or Ginger ones we call them. Rolfe.
  6. The Art of Longnetting by H Wyman............will tell you the basics........some nonsense in it as well mind.......but to give you a rough idea of how to run out and pick up nets it is worth a read. Rolfe.
  7. Watched a hedgehog and a stoat have a fight once.........the hedgehog won on points Rolfe.
  8. Nice ones Stubby...........I like to use that type tealer around harvest time when the ground can be parched dry as they push in the ground easier......hope you remembered to fit the holding pegs as well. Kind Regards Rolfe.
  9. Just thought i would show my portable kania set-up i use to control the greys in woodland areas. There are NO reds in my area......so i can safely use spring traps........If you live in an area that has red and grey squirrels then only cages should be used for obvious reasons. By bolting the Kania to a board, i can move the trap around the woods to favourite trees as and when required, each tree having a nail pre-fixed to hang the trap on. It also makes it so much easier to set the trap....as it can be lifted down and set whilst on the floor. Note.......the wire mesh fitted to the lower half
  10. They will catch day and night ..............if they can feed undisturbed.
  11. Is there anyway you could record the birds yourself?...........peg some carrion out and you should have them chattering away like mad.........! Rolfe.
  12. A rat won't test a cage out for you as they tend to sit reasonably quiet when caught.......but a squirrel will test a cage to the limit in its effort to escape confinement. So test the cages on squirrels would be my advice.....if they aren't robust enough the weak points should soon become obvious. If you are setting cages for rats .....then anywhere there is a food source is a good place to start....find out what they are feeding on and try and provide the same sort of food as an attractant. Rat runs are quite easy to spot as they appear as greasy looking pathways about 3inches wide leading
  13. An Alligator...................f***kig typical..........I can't swim Rolfe.
  14. Looks like were the only ones who did Me toooooooooooooo
  15. A bloke was reading a book on reincarnation..........and his missus asks what he is reading about. "Reincarnation" he said....................."What's that mean" said the wife, "Well" said the husband..........."When you die you return to earth as something completely different" "Oohh" she said..............."I could come back as a pig" The husband said............."You weren't really listening were you"
  16. Did you know that today is "STAR WARS DAY"......oh yes it is. MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU.
  17. Here's a wasp nest i found.............in a roof space...........but in a crash helmet on the floor......bit different i suppose.
  18. Wasp nests are easily treated with a 1% bendiocarb powder injected into the nest via a pressure duster and a lance. On an average year i will treat upwards of 350 nests in various locations, from holes in the ground, hanging in shrubs or holes in walls etc..........the majority though will be in roof spaces .
  19. Yes i think a back plate would be beneficial as on a fence they can do some damage........but funnily enough you seldom get any damage to the bark if they are placed on a tree. The bird feeder certainly comes in for a hammering by the trapped greys, and the wood idea seems a good one to help stop the damage.
  20. I just wondered if anyone used the Elgeeco squirrel cage trap on a regular basis and if you had any success with them. I use one or two in garden situations.........and have had varied success with them. The internal bird feeder certainly works as an attractant to greys used to raiding bird tables.........but in a woodland setting they were not as effective in my opinion. That said, the small woodland birds flocked to feed on them, being able to squeeze through the 29mm mesh to get at the peanuts in the feeder.I had more success with a tunnel trap placed beneath the cage trap at the foot of t
  21. Certainly look like Curlew.........but as you say not really clear enough to be sure. Rolfe.

    Help!

They can have delayed births some kits arriving a couple of days after the first.........but if you are in any doubt then let the vet have a look at her.........if she looks fit and well she probably is. Rolfe.
  23. Good idea...........i will look into that.........cheers mate.
  24. I get loads of calls early in the season from people thinging they have a wasp nest.......when in reality it is just queen wasps coming out of hibernation. To save a journey.....i always ask if it is a "Big" wasp.......it usually is.....and then i tell them it is nothing to worry about. If it is a tiny wasp.........then that is the first worker of the year and a nest will be close by. Rolfe.
  25. Lucky you............been after one for ages without success. Rolfe.
