Contradiction is one thing........name calling using the C***T word or similar will not be tollerated. Why oh why can't you have a sensible debate without resorting to personal insults.........this is not aimed at anyone in particular just a general overview. Like Stubby........any further remarks of a name calling type will be deleted and that person offically warned, if it continues after a warning..........Then I will remove the culprit(s) from the site permanently. PERIOD. Rolfe.

As long as it is securely bolted to a substantial brick wall you should be ok........the gap you refer to would be no problem. They used to prefer an out of site location as well. A friend has his bolted to an external wall in his loft space. Make sure it is securely bolted though.........the Firearms officer may decide to test to see if he can pull it from the wall. As for visiting times........They usualy call at a mutually convenient time.

The guy has dogs that go back breeding true to type for 400 years he once told me........and had photographs to prove it...........yeah right. If you look into the various outcrosses he has used to produce his "Tumbler" type lurchers then you would certainly doubt his claims. He produces lurchers like anyone else good bad and indifferent.......but they certainly don't go back 400 years breeding true to type thats for sure..........it's like all things in life you pays your money you takes your choice........if he believes that he has a "pure" strain of lurcher then thats up to him.........!

Upon eating rabbit for the first time
Rolfe replied to BlueCoyote's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
One of the best recipes for a rabbit is to simply casserole it slowly..........stock, carrots, onions, etc. season to taste. That way you get the true flavour of the bunny..........and you can be sure it is properly cooked. One thing i always do though is to soak the rabbit overnight in cold salted water...........this gets rid of the rabbity smell from the meat. Rolfe. -
Thanks for your advice Rolfe. And no its bird seed, Not peanuts lol Well pick ALL the birdseed up ...........and replace it with a few peanuts just outside the entrance.........a few just inside the cage...........the rest in a tray behind the treadle plate...........remove all other food sources and it will catch pretty quickly mate. Rolfe.
-
Lloydy............i do hope they are not all peanuts i can see scattered outside the cage.........it'll have no need to enter the cage if that is the case. Take all the food from the bird feeders and just leave a couple of peanuts scattered by the entrance of the cage and i nice tray full inside.........take all the rocks off the cage and use a T bar to hold the cage tight to the floor..........should catch soon then mate. Rolfe.

It would probably come under the terms of fly-tipping......illegal dumping of waste...........not too sure though. You can be pretty sure it would fall foul of some archaic law somewhere...........! If i cannot dig a hole and bury the rabbits guts on site...........then i usually have a couple of black bin bags that i use to transport the waste away to somewhere i can safely dispose of it. Rolfe.

Information Required (Whites Thrush)
Rolfe replied to Rolfe's topic in Wildlife and General Photography
Ditch.........it was my ex-partners brothers...........he lives in Berwick..........as far as i know he had it mounted along with the white grey squirrel..........he called in on the way down to the taxidermists (they were both frozen) and i was fortunate enough to have that picture taken with the bird...........i knew it was rare..........but not quite that rare mate. Thanks for the info it is much appreciated. Rolfe. -
I was married for 14 years once...........can't for the life of me remember breaking two mirrors Rolfe.
-
Unfortunately not mate...........it's back in Berwick-on-Tweed on a mantlepiece somewhere now i suppose. Rolfe.
-
Possibly trying to free itself from a snare?
-
Oh yes..........Those were the days........Thighs, Trys, and Sighs........In that order.
-
Nah.........never a plonker LG...........It's a good question actually.........and without appearing to be clever in the answer they are two different species (Sciurus Carolinensis) Is the Grey Squirrel and (Sciurus vulgaris) Is the native Red Squirrel. Red Squirrels are considerably smaller than the Grey Squirrels and weigh in at about 285 grms to the Greys 450 grms on average. There are other distinguishing features such as ear-tufts on the reds........but this can sometimes be misleading as greys can also have them (albeit to a lesser degree) sometimes. Rolfe.

Information Required (Whites Thrush)
Rolfe replied to Rolfe's topic in Wildlife and General Photography
i have seen a white crow a white thrush and also a white blackbird within the same area of kirkby stephen not sure wether they were migratory though if it is of any interest it was during winter It is a species........NOT a colour a "Whites Thrush" as i understand it........but thanks for the input much appreciated Rolfe. -
This is a picture of what i was told was a Whites Thrush.........a migrant bird i think..........it was destined for the taxidermist along with an albino grey squirrel found in Berwick-on-Tweed........just wondered if anyone could tell me a bit more about it as i had never heard of one.........i could google it........but thought there may be someone on here who is familiar with it. Like the albino squirrel it was the result of a road traffic collision.
