Although making a cubby is simplicity itself............i thought i would show you the custom made version. What i like about this one is it can be used as a run through or "Blind" tunnel depending on the target species and location.

You often find these "Honeycomb" type finds........after they have been ripped open by badgers in search of the grubs that have bored out the holes from the inside. Usually it is the Sawfly or Wood Wasp that deposits its eggs deeep into the rotten wood and then the grubs grow and eat their way out..........thus leaving the tell tale holes from which they emerged. Here is a picture of a similar construction after being ripped apart by a foraging badger.

104 Pigeons is a very good bag by anyones standards........and if they were shooting over standing crops i bet there were quite a few more they never picked up as well. Well done to the boys.............any bag over a hundred birds entails some good and difficult shots and so it is no mean acheivement..........Superb result. Rolfe.

It is always nice to see your dogs first catch.........i have had many dogs over the years and i still get the same buzz from seeing the pups first catch...........it is the beginning of the dogs working life in a way.........well done! And by the way...........my last pup promptly devoured the first rabbit she caught also

Steve..........they are absolute crap mate........useless in fact........yes they will catch moles but they are very poorly made and are a poor imatation of the real thing. The spring.........if you look carefully........is a lot weaker than the true talpex.......about half the strength........just look at the loose coils. The Talpex in the UK is about £6.00..........which is about $11.9677 in your money (each) Rolfe.

Here's the love of my life bless her..............taken a few years ago now after i came back from a pigeon shooting trip. To show how long ago it was................I just bought her her first car a few weeks ago..........How time flies.

Unless you have the means and knowledge to HUMANELY dispatch a trapped fox you should not be setting snares or cage traps for them anyway. Too many people set snares and traps without giving a moments thought as to how they will deal with the animal once it is caught. Just because a fox (or any other animal for that matter) is deemed a pest it doesn't mean it should suffer a cruel and inhumane death at the hands of an inexperienced individual. These comments are not aimed at anyone in particular but are just general observations and ones i feel particularly strongly about. Rolfe.

With the higher (and correct) setting of around 6.5 inches and using the bigger loop..........there is always the slight risk of catching fox cubs. This is why Snareman devised the breakaway snare........so any non-target species accidently caught could quickly free themselves. It would make sense if snaring this area again to use the Breakaway system to avoid the same problem happening again. If you think the bite from a fox cub is bad...........wait till you get one from a badger........believe me you wouldn't be in a hurry to catch another Rolfe.

It all depends on what catching the rabbits means to you........are you catching to sell, or for your own consumption, for ferret food etc. If you are snaring for pest control reasons then if Charlie avails himself of the odd bunny from the wires then in my books it's no big deal..........it still means i have one less rabbit to deal with.......and i am still doing what i am paid to do which is clear the rabbits. On some of my contracts i leave all the foxes alone as they are helping me with my rabbit clearance so to speak. If, on the other hand, I had a large rabbit order to fulfil then i w

I was with friends in Norfolk this week and was privileged to sit and have a blether whilst sitting outside their "Reading" type waggon. My two lurchers were standing in front and it just made a lovely picture in amongst the Foxgloves i thought. Does anyone have other pictures of this type as i am facinated by the many and various types of waggons past and present that are still out there somewhere. I am particularly fond of the "Bow Tops" and does anyone have any old pictures of the "Benders" or any other type of old romany pictures they could share.
