  1. Thanks for the update Steve........glad to know you got him 1st time. Yes i would agree with your observations about filling in around the traps and i can see the logic in both methods. I use the Talpex as my Ist choice trap nowadays as it simply produces the most consistant results. Regards Rolfe.

  3. Just a thought.........although the mice may not have been poisoned on YOUR property........they do forage over a wide area in search of food.........so may well have contacted poison elsewhere. But mice would be no problem at all to feed to the ferrets..........years ago i used to feed rats to mine with no ill effect.
  4. Just as a bit of light-hearted fun........what is the best or worst practical joke you have played on someone or someone has played on you.........and did one backfire at any time. The one we always used to play was many years ago now in a previous life when i was a psychiatric nurse in a very large specialist Pyschiatric Teaching Hospital. As third year students, one of our jobs was to show the new intake of student nurses the various hopital departments as part of their induction training. After lulling the students in to a false sense of security (by plying them with copious amounts of
  5. Just a picture of what i am pretty certain are Parasol Mushrooms.........I believe they are edible and i just wondered if anyone has tried eating them and what the flavour is like?
  6. My outside court has a slabbed floor so i can hose it down and keep it clean.......the hutch/sleeping quarters have shavings which are changed regularly. Also with slabs......there is no chance of any ferrets digging under the netting and escaping.
  7. Looks similar to the finial on the top of ornamental wrought iron railings.........could have a length of rail still attached hence it is fixed to the ground.........just a guess though. You simply must investigate further Ditch.........although don't go hitting it with a hammer just in case it is a very well diguised second world war bomb.
  8. My Beddie/Whippet cross is an ideal bushing type dog.......he will crash through the heaviest cover and has a superb nose on him..........often he will catch wind of something as he is working a hedgerow and freeze momentarily to pinpoint his quarry........if he doesn't hit the mark first time when diving into the cover..........he is fast enough to overhall his intended target as it bolts..........That would be my perfect choice for a bushing dog.
  9. Ditch it was a fawn/silver..........with an apricot under fur..........it is in the freezer awaiting the attentions of the taxidermist.........providing the bank will give a re-mortgage to pay for it.
  10. Yes Tracey.........that would be lovely to spend a whole day with you mate
  11. Might just have enough for a willy-warmer Stubby what would you do with the other half of the mole then??? :whistling: Make one for you of course.......silly

  13. One i caught today next to a mole of normal colouring........they fascinate me the colour variations but still waiting to catch the elusive "Whte One"
  14. Congratulations Tracey........You are absolutely the right person for the job as chat-room Mod......Fair, Honest, and completely off your f****g trolley. Seriously though mate.........Well done... you really will make an excellent chat-room Mod........ and if you ever need any help and advice (though i'm sure you won't) I will be only too happy to help you all i can. With All Best Wishes. Take Care. Rolfe.

    Joke

    I Like that one.
  16. Buzzards...........?
  17. A really well made trap that............looks the business. I prefer the much shorter height design.........it is so much easier to remove the trapped birds and i can stack a few in the van as they take up so little room.
  18. Looks like a Guard of some kind to me..........mesh is too big for small vermin if it is a trap of some kind. But maybe Ditch or OTC will recognise it.......if it is a trap. But as you say...........would make a useful tunnel. Rolfe.
  19. Thats some serious fox control that is..............i once called and shot 7 foxes in a remote garden without moving from the one spot.........so i quite believe it is possible to shoot 42 during the course of the night. Rolfe.

    MYXAMATOSIS

No signs here yet in Sunny Northamptonshire...........it usually hits us around July-August time.........it was particularly bad last season........but the funny thing is.........even though it nearly wiped out a good percentage of breeding stock the reabbits are in far greater numbers this year than ever before. Rolfe.
  21. Sunset over Northampton.............view from my window while sitting at the computer.
  22. Jasper......could you PM me plz..need to contact you. thanks......Rolfe.

  23. Depends on what and where you want to use them..........both have their good and bad points and some are better in certain situations than others............What do you intend to trap? mink and sqigs rolf lots around here this summer, mind you i dont know a lot about trapping them with spring traps but have had a few in the cages. I prefer Body-Grips for mink as i have sometimes had them not killed outright in Mk 6 Fenns, but as pointed out they do take some getting used too when setting. On squirrels Mk 6 are plenty powerful enough to ensure a clean kill. As always make sure you comply
