  2. Lovely family pictures........reminds me of my little blondie...........just brought her her first car now
  3. Thanks OTC........One of the gins has the number 3 with a crown stamped above on the top. Just wondered if that told you anything more? But thanks for the info......... The impassable mole trap is very ancient and in really poor condition. The French scissor type are not in much better nick either.........what type of spring mechanism was used on these mate.? Regards.........Rolfe.
  4. Yes.........would love to see them brushes ditch........thanks for the info mate.........good advice as always. Rolfe.
  5. Thanks Guys.........much appreciated.
  6. The Badger cull will never happen because it wouldn't be "PC" to carry out such an operation without the backing and full support of the RSPCA and other animal welfare groups.........which they aint going to give ...AND WHY? Because the RSPCA relies (for a major part of its income) on donations and legacy's from the bunnie huggers of this world who they would not want to upset for a million years........! Rolfe.
  7. Yeah Chalky.........Nothing nicer than a glass or two of REAL ale..........."Old Peculier" Thats me in more ways than one. Love a pint.........always have done since my rugby playing days....oh what fking days they were..........BUT. Although i am the life and soul of the party after a pint or two....i always remember the old saying. IT IS BETTER TO KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND LET PEOPLE THINK YOU ARE A FOOL....THAN TO OPEN IT AND REMOVE ALL DOUBT. Rolfe.
  8. One of the best methods for calculating distance i was shown out in the field was the "Fence Post" method. What ever land you are shooting on.......as long as it has a fence.........it is easy to gauge distance. Simply pace out the distance between two fence posts.........(they should be equally spaced out as a rule) and using this figure you can easily calculate the rough distance of any object by counting the number of posts. Rolfe.
  9. Forgotten that one HH.........good choice.
  10. Yes ..........entirely agree with Sue........all kits nip but if you handle them after they have been fed they are far less likely to do so. They just see your fingers coming into the cage as another food offering at that age.......! Rolfe.
  11. Just had a good find at the local Steam Rally.........rummaging through some old junk boxes........came across some beautiful little rat-gins........and some badly corroded mole traps......they should clean up reasonably well though. Just a quick question for OTC or Ditch.........what is the best method for restoring and making "Looking Good" old traps that you know of? Rolfe.
  12. Another Oldie............but great words........and what a raunchy voice. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=lHDvhaQE324
  13. Have a good one and take time to enjoy it... Rolfe.
  14. This classic is one of my favourites of all time.........watching them perform this live is something else. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=jxfdDrKO8uM
  15. Well as a variation to the scenario already described........i have on many occaisions placed cages where rabbits run through cover as an escape route or to access favourite feeding areas........and these too catch really well. Again, on this golf course contract.......i have a large island bed of Large heathers........and a cage pushed under these and out of sight, and UNBAITED..........catches quite regularly as the rabbits love playing and hiding underneath the shrubs. Thanks for the Info ZZW.........much appreciated. Rolfe.
  16. Have a good one mate..........Enjoy.....Downhill all the way now. Rolfe.
  17. Thanks Ian and the rest of you guys......it's good to see and share different ideas i think, sometimes we as trappers tend to become clouded and focused on purely the standard settings and locations where as in reality with a bit of field craft we can turn awkward situations around to work in our favour. I for one.........hope i never stop learning new trapping techniques because for me that is what makes my chosen profession so enjoyable. Rolfe.
  18. It is definately a Meadow Brown then............there is a marked difference between the two when you compare the two pictures......! Thanks Byron.
  19. Thanks Guys.........I really wouldn't know the difference between the two to be honest........but the general consensus seems to lean towards the SH........Something else i have learned ..........god... the more we learn the less we know eh. Rolfe.
  20. Not a very good picture but someone will identify it for sure.........is it a Meadow Brown? I was walking a silage field prior to being cut today.........and counting the well used rabbit runs for a snaring session. These little fellows were everywhere........i have never seen so many in one area before..........but they are certainly prolific around here.
  21. I had a problem area on my golf course contract that required me to remove rabbits from a steep and densely covered bank at the base of the clubhouse wall. Problem was........no holes were accessible.......so couldn't spring trap...couldn't ferret as the clubhouse bar and balcony was just above......where the Golfing "Ladies" would be horrified if they saw me catching the poor wee bunnies.........so could only cage trap discreetly. With a bit of careful planning and pruning i was able to block off the normal run the rabbits were using with a couple of bricks..........and FORCED them to use a
  22. My first Mother-in-Law was an Angel..............which pleased me no end..........because my second one was still alive. The phone rang once and my ex said........"How would you like to speak to my mother"....? I said "Through a f**king medium" Needless to say we are no longer together....... Rolfe.
  23. The law does make allowances for "Accidents" but if you were charged you would have to prove this was the case in a court of law....... a very tricky area to prove or disprove the case.
  24. i know i really must look after them better whats the postage to send them back to me?? £2,675.00.........first class post........inc re-inforced packing crate.
  25. Might as well have this one as well...........you must be more careful with your undies
