    HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Have a good one mate Enjoy. Regards Rolfe.
  2. Soak it in Methylated Spirit for a day or two....... then rinse and let it dry out in the sun........should cure it a treat and it shouldn't smell afterwards..........It works for fox brushes also. Regards Rolfe.
  3. Ok you dirty minded sod's.........well at least it got your attention Just thought i would put up a couple of pictures of a Mk 1 Fenn Rabbit Trap........Before and after treatment. Ditch very kindly sent me a new type of wire brush to try out when cleaning old traps..........the results are remarkable. Like Ditch said.......they are simply the best brush for the job. It took an hour of careful rubbing........before applying a thin coat of oil to achieve the desired result. Thats it..... your off......dirty minds working again
  4. Lots of Tumps (molehills) doesn't always mean lots of moles.......a busy mole can push up many hills overnight. My advice would be to look in the Yellow Pages for your area.......and find a local "Moleman" if you can. I would steer clear of the big companies.........and try and find a small specialist concern. Rolfe.
  5. It's OK Tess.........when you have all the kit on........quite safe.......BUT they are hot-arsed little buggers if you approach the nests unprotected......Ouch. Regards Rolfe.x
  6. That nest is about 2 months old but would have been twice that size.......in a month or so had it been left. NO occupants live there now...........their house has been repossessed. Regards Rolfe.x
  7. Yeah.........been there a month at a guess..........it was all old bedding stacked on the boot of an old car in the garage. It was destined for dust sheets and the tip............but as he went to move it he got a nasty surprise.
  8. They might.........BUT.........the flower bed is right under the clubhouse balcony and some of the members wouldn't take too kindly to a squealing rabbit leaping about while they were sitting drinking their Pimms. So by setting a cage....the rabbit sits nice and quiet and hidden from view until i come to collect it. Rolfe.
  9. I was called out today to remove a wasp nest from a pile of sheets and bedding that had been stacked on the back of a car in a garage. The client got attacked big time as he attempted to lift the blankets from the car.....the pictures will explain why........the first shows the entrance to the nest.......then the actual nest itself .......it was about the size of a small football. Edited.....to show another nest i did this morning in a coal barn.........wonderful feats of construction aint they?
  10. Carrots..........about the best bait........but parsnip and swede also work.
  11. Just some pictures from a rabbit cage trapping situation..........this time it is the flower bed on the golf course. The rabbits run through under the shrubbery plants and get intercepted by the waiting cage trap. So far this cage has trapped 27 rabbits.........and is still catching..........this is this mornings catch. Not many mornings go by when there is not a rabbit waiting for me. The cage has not been baited since the first catch.........the scent of the previous occupants is enough to entice the next visitor.

    LAST HATCHING

Well the partridge chick now thinks its a parrot...........that'll confuse the poor little sod come shoot day. Best Wishes. Rolfe.
  13. Kay my darling............I dread to think what may be lurking in the depths of your shed.......but yes you can't get much more primative than that for sure. Rolfe.
  14. My good friend Bob Merrin.......dropped by for an overnight stop on his way to the CLA Gamefair.....and i managed to get some pictures of his collection of Full Barrel mole traps........some were really old but the gas pipe version is one Bob makes and uses regularly. Top right of the picture is a partially completed trap Bob has carved from Oak.....it'll last centuries according to bob. Regards Rolfe.
  15. My good friend Bob Merrin called for an overnight stay last night on his way down to the CLA Gamefair. He had with him a very early type of recieving box.......from the early 70's he believes.......made by Oitron......and was also a radio as well...........so music while you locate. It had an 8ft depth......but no dial to give you an accurate reading. Just thought it might be interesting to see the device in all its glory. Regards Rolfe.
  16. They should be fine now Tracey..........well done for some quick thinking and glad i could be of some help Best Wishes Rolfe. x
  17. The cages i use are 230mm wide 260mm high and 760mm long........ the bigger size is preferred over the smaller ones. Rolfe.
  18. The fearsome looking "Sting" is merely an ovipositor for laying eggs deep beneath the bark of its favourite trees. Completely harmless.........so nowt to be scared of. Rolfe.
  19. Looks like a Horsetail (Wood wasp). Rolfe.
  20. Brilliant..........i can hear my mother now saying some of those.........and worse still..........i can hear me saying the same things to my daughter Rolfe.
  21. Knew it wouldn't be long before they came back to collect their alien offspring
  22. Give the new born a new silver coin in its palm.
  23. Well traditionally the cages are set to one side of a distinct rabbit run....so the rabbits can pass the entrance freely....pinned tight to the ground and baited with carrot they are really effective........they are not covered in any way and although it may take a while to catch your first rabbit........the others then follow pretty quickly as the ground and cage are nicely scented. You can also use them like in the picture........where rabbits run through shrubs and bushes.......in this instance i don't normally bait them.........the rabbits will still run into them especially if they are p
  24. I can never understand why people think that ferrets can't be both workers and pets at the same time. All my ferrets are worked regularly.......mostly all year round on my rabbit contracts. Each and every one of mine is well handled and they are as much part of the working team as the lurchers.......they are all classed the same in my eyes, dogs and ferrets.......all much loved.... and i still get saddened when a loyal and dilligent little worker reaches the end of its days.It still makes me smile when i get the ferret boxes out for a day on the bunnies........and the ferrets are as excited as
