    im also a member and was for a good while before becoming a mod, yes its a good book but then again theres been a few good lurcher books of late, but there still books, yes the contents will be discused in the lurcher forums today and in years to come but the book belongs in the book section. nice edit by the way Aw c'mon, you know I'm like a dog with a bone !     Of course no one can tell you what dog to like; and I'd never have thought I'd own a Doberman for over 12 years ! I was gifted a Saluki years ago, and when he finaly had to be PTS at 17 year old, the guy that gave him to me sent a Doberman to replace him !! Of course I had to accept this thoughtful gift, but it wouldn't have been the dog of choice !! I brought this bitch back to the UK and she started a whole new carreer working with the Lurchers and did a great job ! A fantastic house dog, guard dog, pet, companion, but would I buy a Doberman ? Definatly not ! Would I have parted with her ? D

    Deano; I'd ignore any advice you have recieved on here ! Get the dog to a good greyhound vet and follow their advise ! If it were possible to diagnose a dogs injury on the internet without seeing the dog, then there'd be no need for vets !! Cheers.

    Thanks for your reply and explanation. I, personaly, would have thought that a post that would have generated replies about Lurchers, Coursing, and top class dog owners, would have been better placed in a forum were it would be most read !! I.E. "Lurchers & Running Dogs" ! If you want to be dogmatic and keep it in a rarley read forum, that is your perogative as a Moderator. But you should be aware that some forums are read by FAR more members than other forums ! I appreciate the job you do as a Moderater, especialy as a NEW Mod, but perhaps you could take a leaf out of other Mods books, s

    What "Lurcher World " would that be ?? The Lurcher has allways been a dog to provide food for it's owner; that was it's job from time immemoriable ! Of course there are wrong 'uns in the Lurcher game... but let's not sanitise the Lurcher ! It is, and should be, a working/hunting dog ! Cheers.

    How did you work that one out mate ? When i didnt have a job getting to any good land was bloody hard work.even going with other lads had to pay for fuel.     Nail in the coffin ? It's way past that stage ! The funeral has been held, the wake is over, and the deceased, (legal coursing), is only a fond and distant memory !! If this injust law is ever overturned, it will probably be to allow lisenced fox hunts only ! Hare coursing as we knew it will never be legalised again. I'll fight to my dying breath to get it back, but my head over rules my heart and the days of the Waterloo Cup or the Forley are long gone and will never return ! I'm glad that I saw those days, but sad that the youth of today won't ... Cheers.

    I consider myself as strictly a Running Dog man, although there are a few terrier breeds I like. There are any amount of breeds I thought I would never have near my house or kennel, but sometimes circumstances force things on you. Due to family circumstances, we now have a Mini Manchester Terrier, ( via the Ukraine, Dubai and Australia), and a Chihuahua, (via Australia) !! Never in my life would I have even contemplated owning either breed; but now they are here, they're here for life ! And a right pair of characters they are !! LOL !!     Civilisations have allways been judged by their literature and books. The heathens and dictators have burnt books; from the Roman times to Hitler, and the Communists, to keep the people uninformed !! The Labour Government banned Coursing, and would like it erased from history; but as long as books like this are written, with interviews and pictures that are from the recent LEGAL past, then the next generation of coursers will be aware of what we had and continue to fight for the repeal of an unjust and wrong Law !!!
