  1. I haven’t a clue, I don’t know what times an average sprinter does. Im just giving an example of ped v non-ped times. It’s indisputable that non- peds are considerably faster than peds. In fact, there’s only ever been one pedigree whippet, Rch Our Pepe, that won a BWRA championship against non-pedigree whippets. That was back in 1968. I like both peds and non-peds and both have their places in racing and working. Cheers.
  2. I’ve handicapped both ped and non-ped whippets and the best non-ped whippets are around 1:5 seconds faster than the peds over 150 yards , that equates to the ped needing around 24 yards start over the non-ped for them to cross the finish line together. Most clubs racing time handicaps have a 21 yard limit, that’s why both my local clubs run the peds separately from the non-peds. Cheers.
  3. I haven’t disagreed with a single thing you have said ! If you own one of these dogs and know it’s manny, and you take it to a park full of dogs and kids and let it loose and it does some damage do you really think it’s the dogs fault ? Or the owners ? Its a rhetorical question, I really don’t want to be sucked into an argument, you have your opinion and I have mine. Let’s leave it at that. Cheers.
  4. As I’ve said, of course there’s bad dogs and no amount of training or socialising will change them, but we humans are top of the evolutionary tree, we produce these animals and should be responsible for them. If I have the fastest greyhound , the best hare dog or the gamest bulldog in the world but it’s manny and a liability I have choices, do everything I can to avoid “situations “ or cull it. The decision is mine. If I make the wrong decision and someone is hurt by the dog, then I would blame myself, not the dog. That doesn’t mean it’s not a bad dog or I’m a bad owner? It’s just me taki
  5. So if a dog gets out and runs amok because the owner hasn’t secured it in a secure pen or kennel it’s the dogs fault ? If a dog slips it’s lead and runs amok because the owner hasn’t got it on a decent collar and lead, it’s the dogs fault ? To take your argument to “reducto absudum”, if a lion escapes from a zoo and kills someone, is it the lions fault ? Or the keepers ? Im not saying and have never said “there’s no bad dogs” as that’s absurd , what I’m saying is if people insist in keeping dogs that may be deemed dangerous, then it’s their responsibility to keep it under contro
  6. I mean that I see a lot of dogs without any basic training or socialising. I draw a distinction between working dogs and pets. Of course there’s bad dogs, and some of the top coursing dogs I’ve seen could be described as “manny”, but weren’t walked around the streets by the owners kids ! So let’s not get working dogs, owned, in general, by experienced people, confused or equated with this months “fad” dogs, whose owners see them only as a status symbol and put no effort into them whatsoever. Cheers.
  7. I’ve never been in favour of banning things, as it usually doesn’t have the intended effect. Just look at the hunting ban; the vast majority of people thought it was about protecting foxes and getting one over on the “rich Tory’s in red coats”, but it affected everyone with a hunting dog. Or the handgun ban, the only people it affected were the GB pistol shooting teams, the wrong’uns never held these guns legally anyway ! But I’m a bit swayed towards banning these dogs…..there’s a few round my way and most are untrained and out of control and most disturbingly seem to be draggi
  8. Best game I’ve watched so far. Lots of tries and great attacking play and hard tackles ! Cheers.
  9. Wales v Fiji very entertaining in the first few minutes ! Cheers.
  10. The Falklands Part Two ? We were outnumbered, but still gave them a whupping ! Cheers.
  11. I haven’t seen Mally for years, but we spent a lot of time in each other’s company hunting, shooting, ferreting, lamping, coursing, we had some great times. I was impressed with Vixen as an all rounder and she threw some good pups. Cheers.
  12. Speed, yeah, the non-ped, but I’d say the ped from coursing stock will have the edge in stamina . Just my opinion, of course. Cheers.
  13. Mallyfields Vixen; Probably the best working pedigree whippet I’ve seen, and double Sooty Sam bred . Cheers.
  14. One thing is puzzling me ; no one is mentioning his rank in the army. Theres a photo of him with an army shirt with a captains three pips on the shoulder, but he joined the army at 17 and had done just four years, even if he went to Sandhurst, which I don’t think he did, how could he rise through the ranks so rapidly and be a captain at 21 ? Cheers.
  15. I paid £172 last year, this year my renewal is £268 !!!! I called them and said don’t take my direct debit as I’m shopping around for a better deal. They said they could do it for £230 and that was lower that anyone else. I checked with gocompare and they were right. Looks like we are getting stuffed again and there’s nothing we can do ! Cheers.
  16. To be honest, it’s hounds for grounds, I couldn’t compare them. I enjoyed the whippets as I could run a hare or two during the week and race them at the weekend. Seeing a deer/grey in full flight on a daytime roe or hare is a grand sight. I ran the Salukis in the Middle East and I had to put many miles in just to get a run, but it was something I enjoyed. Basically I just love running dogs and I don’t think the different types can be compared. It would be daft to compare a saluki and a whippet running hares on the fens, but a whippet can give a great few runs on the smalle

He’s a man of mystery; Kabul to Kampuchea, Manila to Milan, London to Lahore, Zurich to Zambia ! A modern day Pimpernel ! ”They seek him here, they seek him there, they seek that damned elusive Mackem everywhere ! “. Cheers.
  21. I don’t know mate, all I can say is it will probably be a Southern Hemisphere team. Ive got connections with Australia and NZ, so I’ll enjoy their games. I like to watch the Springboks, but I want England to win but I doubt they will, if not, I’d like to see the taffs win! Bit of a politicians answer, sorry, but I’m looking forward to a lot of games, especially us v the Argies tomorrow ! Cheers.
  22. One of the best Haka’s I’ve seen. Hope it’s a good game….and the French get beat ! Cheers.

  25. The bill, draconian as it is, doesn’t actually say that, but it does give this and all future governments the right to make it law to have heat pumps and all the rest , without a vote in parliament. It also gives them the right to send an inspector to your house if you want to sell it, and will block the sale if it doesn’t reach the energy efficiency standard, which hasn’t been set yet, until it is brought up to whatever standard they deem appropriate at the time. Only 19 MP’s, including Jacob Rees Mogg, voted against this bill. It has now went to the House of Lords for ratificat
