  1. Hearing unverified reports that Ukraine and Russia are both running out of the “three M’s” ; men , munitions, and matériel. China is about to tell Putin to get round the table with Zelensky and stop the war as it’s affecting Chinas economy and it’s ongoing “ Roads & Belts” program around the world. No hard facts, but evidently our Foreign Secretary, Lammy , is going to China to meet Xi and put forward suggestions for a peace process. Hope it’s true and it ends soon . Cheers.
  2. GBNews is my default news setting ! LOL ! Cheers.
  3. Home made chicken tikka pizza; Cheers.
  4. While I can somewhat agree with you on this point, like everything, there are two sides to the story . I’ve worked with many TCN’s and personally know many who have , through their remittances back to their home countries , put their children through university and end up being doctors, dentists, Engineers, airline pilots etc. So if a doctor leaves the Philippines to work here, but his remittances pay for two of his children to become doctors in the Philippines Is it one step backwards to take two steps forward ? I don’t really know for sure. Cheers.
  5. Spicy mince today; Made with fresh veggies, onions, turnip, broccoli, tomatoes, red and purple chillis and garlic, all from the allotment this morning; Cheers.
  6. If that’s the Grand Krasnapolski on the Damrak in Amsterdam, I’ve stayed there a few times ! Regularly flew Saudi , Amsterdam, Newcastle and had stopovers there, missus reckons the Royal Dutch breakfast there is the best ! Cheers.
  7. There was a discussion on the tv yesterday about how the lunatic asylums, mental hospitals, whatever you want to call them, were phased out in the 80’s and people with obvious mental problems were not incarcerated but put into “care in the community “. Now, I’m a great fan of “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest”, but I’m not advocating that type of establishment, but I wonder how many tragedies could have been avoided if some individuals had been kept in secure detention rather than being released into “care in the community “ ? Cheers.
  8. As I said, it would be a start; not a solution. Cheers.
  9. The man who murdered the two kids and the older chap had been sectioned FOUR times. Two strikes and you’re out would be a start for these nut jobs. Stop treating the criminals like victims. Cheers.
  10. He’s getting the cellar and the gimp suit ready in anticipation! LOL ! Cheers.
  11. First Amendment Wolfy; Trump won’t let them have you ! If in doubt, move to Ireland , Wilf will hide you at his place ! LOL ! Cheers.
  12. And Labour are looking at scrapping the “seven year rule”, whereby you can give your house and everything else to your children or grandchildren and they’ll not pay tax on it if you live more than seven years after you gift it to them. Also , they are thinking of putting capital gains tax on your house when you sell it even if it’s your only property. My parents bought their council house with the intention of it being sold when they died and the proceeds being split between their children , my dad died and then my mum went into a care home and her meagre savings and her house were t
  13. This bull x ate one of the back legs off the hare before we could get it ! Cheers.
  14. It’s a very arbitrary figure,Wilf. Take the number of working age people in the UK , deduct the number in work, paying income tax and NI, and your left with a figure of around 10 million. This 10 million will include people as diverse as Prince Andrew, people who retired early, housewife’s, people in hospital , etc, so it’s not that big a figure as they would like us to think ! Cheers.
  15. I think the 10 million includes the “economically inactive”, people who aren’t working but not claiming benefits for whatever reason. You could probably add some like Prince Andrew in on that figure, it’s not just the number of people out of work and claiming benefits, it also includes people in hospital, nursing homes etc. people who chose to live in places like Spain and Portugal and even possibly you if you are still on the electoral register in the UK. So it’s a misleading figure. Cheers.
  16. I’ve no doubt there are many who abuse the system, I know plenty of them , but the 10 million figure is a bit misleading. Cheers.
  17. Not as simple as that , mate. In that number there are a lot of people like my wife and I. We retired at 51, never claimed anything off the government but still paid our taxes on all the things we are taxed on, Road Tax, Council Tax, Petrol and Diesel Tax , VAT ON what we buy, including VAT on gas and electricity, tax on beer and wine and spirits, tax on the interest on our savings. Yes, there are the people who won’t work, but there are many others in the 10 million who aren’t on benefits and aren’t a drain on the countries finances. Cheers.
  18. I’m a bit conflicted with FFP, or whatever it’s called now. Of course I’m massively biased in one respect, if it was a free for all, Newcastle could buy anyone the wanted and I could see the worlds best players at St James’ Park , but would I be happy at basically “buying” the league ? Probably not. Then again, I worry that if Premier teams are restricted on what they can spend, will it’s standing in world football be degraded ? Will it cease to be attractive to the worlds best players? And what if the top , ( richest ) teams in the Premier decide if they can’t spent their money
  19. This little beddy type I had was one of the best for quartering a field; I could get on a bit of high ground and let her go and she would work a field and if there was a hare there, she would find it . Cheers.
  20. That was Dick Emery, mate. Frankie Howard’s most famous catchphrase was probably “titter ye not !” Cheers.
  21. Just had a look on the Gov website; Criminal courts: Magistrates' courts - GOV.UK WWW.GOV.UK The different types of court - magistrates' court, Crown Court and youth court - the crimes they deal with... Cheers.
  22. I may be wrong, I haven’t looked it up yet, but I thought Magistrate’s and District Judges could only give custodial sentencing of up to 6 months and up to 12 months if guilty of more than one offence. If the magistrates think the sentence should be more severe it is passed on to a higher court. Have these people getting longer sentences been at a higher court, or have magistrates and district judges been giving out sentences they shouldn’t be giving ? Cheers.
  23. Fresh from the allotment; assorted tomatoes and a few quail eggs; Might make a posh egg & tomato sandwich ! Cheers.
