On my ferreting land i have access to various size warrens 3-30 plus holers i try to vary the land i work as not to hit the same sets. However i have hit what i call my dead cert sets within 7days of doing them previously & still had a rabbit or two out off them.If the fert has killed in which my 2 are just starting to do occasionally i tend to write them sets off for a good while but wether its stops further rabbit use

Give your local pet shop a ring see if you can get frozen day old chicks i pay £11 for 200,check your local butchers see if he does pet mince it has bits of everything in it & rabbit. Also you can give egg&milk as a treat, cat food occasionally, best to keep fresh meat on menu most of the time.Dry food has it advantages in the summer less flies but i would,nt just feed my charges on it constantly but thats up to the keeper if he chooses to do so....

Good bag there PH,your lurcher is the same colour, coat as the one i had as a teenager she,s greyhound x deerhoundx?.My lurcher was both x plus collie he stood 28" at the shoulder not the most intelligent of dog but did his job. She,s a good looking dog

Quality bag of rabbits there could,nt get out today meself wind gusting 30-40mph at home would have been nearly twice that at Weardale did,nt fancy getting blew off (steady) off the top of the quarries not a good look
-
which one do you prefer and why? I suppose the MK3 moving with the times but if you get the 1 or 3 they,ll do the job.I only use mine to find the fert in the burrow after 45mins or so, i aint no fan of digging but i would as a last resort ie fading daylight, for me there a confidence thing knowing my fert(s) are still in the burrow & have,nt slipped away quitely...
-
Hi ste*,theres been many threads on this subject have you done a search on this forum?I own the MK3 meself & i find it does its job,a few lads have had problems with collars coming off.I owned a MK1 in the mid ,s what i can remember it also did its job no problem....

It depends on what scope is fitted, what size bottle thats with it & the condition of it.If you intend to do alot of shooting i would opt for a bottle if your a weekend shooter as i am a pump is ok well for me anyway.A sum of money i would be thinking between £450-600 however this time of year you could grab a bargain...
-
Depends on the lie of your shooting land & the rabbit behaviour on it.On my shoot theres parts the rabbit sun themselves i,ll sit there under cover full cammo & pick the ones off that appear but it can be slow.Stalking them is a lot more exciting but can be very fustrating & very sweaty if you cover a lot of ground like i do
-
Good result AF ,all ive ever used is purse nets as well but i will be getting into longnetting in the spring.Once i have confidence using them i will try other types of nets to add more options to my rabbit control...
-
Im not that low to pick upon if your dislexic or not i just asked if you were drunk...
-
Are you drunk because your spelling is very strange :drink:Bit of advice my friend if you,ve got nothing decent to post dont bother as i think you are getting a lot of peoples backs up on this part of the forum. If your just learning you should do more listening as apposed to transmitting & are you a novice ferret keeper??If you are i have proved my point...think about it.....Goodnight Andy

So if you aquirre this fert & cant tame it what will YOU do with it then??Judging by your previous enlightend wisdom posts you,ll KILL it anyway so why play the knight in shining armour??The point im trying to make is that Maltenby has asked the forum for advice & it has been given he would only be passing a bitting fert on to another owner who couldn,t do any different ANYWAY.If malts choses to end her life thats his business but im sure he would happier knowing he did it than some person offering her a lifeline then after 3months killing the poor thing anyway...............
-
On 1 post you say kill the slut after 3 months of trying to tame it i,m sure Maltenby is a experienced ferret keeper as most of the members on this part of the forum are & im sure he,s tried to tame the fert no different than you or i would.I cant see any reason why you would want to take the fert on providing its very small because if its still biting YOU after 3 months your going to kill "the little slut" ANYWAY !!What sort of ferret keeper refers to his jills as SLUTS it pisses me off some people think of these fantastic animals, part of a working team as expendable assests & i don
-
So if the fert is small you,ll quite happily take it on then if its biting you after 3 months you,ll kill the little slut anyway???? Im not one for slagging people of on forums but i think i have to agree with Hob & Jill on this one....
-
Good result there Milo i know what you mean about the rain i should be out sunday fingers crossed .Nice looking lurcher you,ve got there
-
Top tip for 2008 that Ditch never heard or had the brainpower to think of that i,ll defientley remember that one if my 2 are unfortunate to get a few flea,s....
-
Mines the same FV never really looked at it that way to be honest but i see what you mean
-
Hi Arthur, theres been several threads on this problem with MK3 collars a some of the lads have put the transmitters onto leather collars.I own the MK3 & never had a collar come off yet(touch wood) on 1 of my jills i tighten up to 3 holes the other jills a touch smaller 2 holes at first it looked very uncomfortable but they never protested.Have you put any extra holes in the collar yourself??
-
I suppose badger, otter & anything else he could scrape up tastes like chicken .That Cliff fella the big cat hunter with his bottle of bleach to scare the big panther away .I found it intresting but very very strange

Bring back National Service for all.I think once your 18 you should be drafted & serve 3 years in one of the Forces if you refuse just press gang them anyway It done me no harm made me a better person with self respect & respect for your fellow citizens.I dont agree with the immigration policies of this once great country but there is a lot of issues with our own white race on this island you cant just blame immigrants iilegal or not.......
-
Sorry to read that MB you,ve got me thinking now wether or not to have my 2 jabbed Has any one else been unlucky with the jab??Or whats your opinions on it??
-
Quality 5* accomadation there Stubby the big fella looks laid back despite the mither off the jill
