  1. Enjoy using your AA410c there a great gun i take it that your a teenager? i remember those days you may find it hard to get permission to use a gun by yourself or with a bit of luck you may not...but i,m sure someone close to you on this forum may give you an invite Xmas spirit & all that
  2. I was just about to say stop when the month has a r in it for me i ferret october-early march after that the gun comes out.The way the weather is at the moment Indian summers, floods, etc i don,t think the rabbits know when to breed i suppose it,s down to your location in this island...
  3. My 2 jills are coming up to 9months now & are working great.I suppose it may take some ferts longer than others to cotton on what it,s all about.I had a couple of messing about sessions to get them familar with locator collars, nets etc in october in a few easy burrows before going to my proper ground. They sharp grew up soon as they relized what it,s all about now there mad for it can,t wait to get down them burrows
  4. Remember to feed them before you go or you may have to use the locator & spade a bit more than you would like... Happy hunting
  5. Now thats what i call HARDCORE
  6. Glad you got her back LL Im the same as Devvo not trying to start the locator debate but it doesnt bear thinking about if she did,nt have a collar on
  7. I dont use deoderants/aftershave before i go ferreting/shooting but i do when i get back .My ferreting partner smokes ,i dont so he has a tab as we walk to burrows not while the ferts are down.Drinking alcohol when out hunting not a good look in my opinion if you want to go to the pub. Each to their own tho...
  8. Our cat does,nt pay any real intrest to my 2 poleys occasionaly he sits on top of their cage but ive never put them together im sure that most cats would aviod any confrontation with ferts.
  9. If you have enough nets net the bank i have never used longnets but what i have read & seen on the forum they look very good providing they are set properly. On my ferreting ground we net up as many burrows as possible so by the time we are done the first set is ready for ferts to be put in.I may invest in a longnet(s) for next winter once i have picked peoples brains on how to use them effectively
  10. If you want a lightweight mutishot gun the AA s410c is just about what everybody recommends.I have owned a Rapid7 fantastic gun however i bought the 410c & i prefer it to a Rapid7.It depends how much shooting you intend to do ref charging gear get a divers bottle if you are shooting several times a week stirrup pumps are ok if you only shoot at weekends as i do.Try to handle, shoot if possible as many rifles as you can you,ll know when it feels right for YOU...
  11. Not a bad day out there Fezz you,ll get the ones that got away next time lovely looking dogs there.Pictures look good to : me

  14. A 100 yd shot with a 12/ftlb rifle its a bit like the one armed fisherman"IT WAS THAT BIG" shooting live quarry 30-40 yds depending on calibre, weather conditions & competence of the shooter. As previously quoted good fieldcraft, understanding of your quarry & shooting grounds will get you a lot more success than just aim, fire & hope you cleanly hit your target at extreme ranges....
  15. That was a rather calm discussion on the calibre debate normally ends up :aggressive:
  16. In one of the books i have by Dave Bezzant he lets his swim in calm rivers/ponds in the summer he shows 1 or 2 photos in his book.Ocassionally when i did bath my lot in the summer months they did,nt seem to keen to swim just clawed frantically to get out & be dried...should think they will be good swimmers when need be not something i think they would do by choice tho..
