  1. Yeah,..I've managed to get into double figures, but as some lads have said, 'Something is wrong' ? I think that August will be hectic and we will possibly have a late season, dragging well into October,..but, yeah,...it ain't good is it..?
  2. Seriously now Brothers...? Sometimes, we all 'cop the needle' over the silliest of remarks,...words uttered by complete strangers, and often by guys who are on a completely different wave length, to one'self. In 99% of cases, such foolish comments go in one ear and out of t'other?..but,...for some reason,...certain remarks, strike a chord' and spark off a mode of behaviour that is both wasteful and non-productive.... After a lifetime spent around dogs and dog men,...it is pure stupidity to rise to the bait and become upset from the antics of other enthusiasts,...in short, it i
  3. That's the point fellah,...you don't mess about with the ferrets, and we don't run the big land, with purpose bred coursing dogs,.but, we all have a voice on the Hunting Life....
  4. I've got your number fellah,...?
  5. Thanks for that,...much appreciated....?
  6. I've heard that it is a game changer Brian...?
  7. What are you talking about ? Do you actually know what you are talking about? Do you think after 60 years in the hunting game, I need to protect my persona?
  8. I have never been abrupt with the name you mention...in fact, I think you will find, that it is entirely the opposite. ? What I cannot understand, is when there are several specialist sites that have been created for the serious Hare Coursing enthusiasts, are you coming on this Hunting site,...a site that was made for all the various field sports activities,..and certainly not solely hare coursing, and match dogs, etc....WHY are you not on those sites ? Who have you beaten in matches,...? Give me your name, and I'll ask folk if you are kosher, or simply just a fool that likes m
  9. Good to see your work Brother..?
  10. Well, I am relieved that you are not going to go the other route with me fellah,.. you sound as though you are a bit of a desperado,...and at my time of life, I don't need to mess with a tough guy like you? All the best,...and thanks for sparing my life...?
  11. ?I ain't sad Brother, just a tad disappointed? I've met a hundred or more keyboard warriors in my life.... It is what it is....kinda goes with the territory.....?
  12. C'mon now bonny lad,.don't be a girly,...stick by your words... Now we all know the score....? If you don't rate me, you are perfectly entitled to say so,..its a free country and I think everyone should speak their mind...I always have,...mind you, I general say it to a man's face, and accept the consequences. I usually get put on my arse?
  13. ? I missed the foolishly made, but obviously intended insult ? However,..I am not ashamed to be called, a 'rabbiting man'.....in fact, considering my financial status now, as opposed to my totally skint and poverty stricken,...'arse hanging out ' situation, when I first started out,...I regard the jealous, spurious wording,... as something of a compliment?
  14. Enjoy yourself John,..have a good Summer and then get her on a warren, late in the season... I wish you well..?
  15. Yes, I would only echo your words Toolbox? Rightly or wrongly,.. "Lurchers have been my Life"....without the help and influence of my working pals,..I would still be a cast-iron loser....My lack of formal schooling and my own quirky temperament, insured that I was going nowhere in life,...fast? My strong connection to lurchers and the kudos a wee bit of amateur scribbling produced, opened so many previously shut doors and enabled me to become, a rural Pest Controller.. For this,.. I thank them..? Best dog ever? Well, to be truthful, I've never owned a world beater, o
  16. Good to see some interest in the beautiful Deerhound Lurchers? I've nothing but good memories from my old crew.?
  17. ? Some interesting and thought provoking comments.... I cannot think of a better sporting day than being out and about with a brace of bushing tykes, and a couple of fast lurchers.. In my mind, its the Sport of Kings, especially when you hit upon an area where the rabbits are 'on top' and not simply dropping straight to ground...? Such fabulous places are rare and at a premium these days.... Obviously, its not just rabbits that will be pushed out of cover, so, it can get really exciting I was out ratting and rabbiting with this rangy critter, and I could not help thinking,.what
  18. ?As stated, the best choice for a rabbiting dog, is the fecker that can regularly catch'em..? I've settled on my own style of jukel,...they have been selectively bred by myself, for myself, and to meet the requirements of my local area..We all love our lurchers, but essentially, they have to do the job for which they are intended,..so,..it makes sense to use the right tool for that job...Different terrains will often require, a faster, stronger, bigger, smaller,..different style of hunting partner....I have kept all sorts for the rabbit job, and to be honest, I've sometimes kept a sledgeh
  19. ?Never really been a candidate, for trying to get, an end of day/night type shot.... Back in my freelancing days, that was the very last thing on my mind? Here in the South, we have always had to endure a heavily keepered scenario,...and their powers were always backed up, with a fairly stringent police presence, combined with a Magistrates Court more than willing to impose the harshest fines possible, to offenders. It has always been the same... In fact, I have appeared in front of a Magistrate who was a paying member of the very Pheasant shoot that I had been visiting, after
  20. I used to have a really good, rat lamping cat...?
  21. Hi Liam, good to see that you are still into your hunting? Please give my kindest regards to your Father? The little bitch in the photo was a real nice animal,...mostly Whippet/Collie and a bit of Greyhound... If you get a chance, borrow my 2006 book, A Moucher's Tale, (its no great shakes? ) I am not a writer,..but, there is a description of Gypsy, the Blue bitch and unfortunately, the story of her sad demise...? Go careful now Brother, and stay safe,..all the best, OldPhil.?
  22. Hi Tats,.no the dog was bred from a collie/Grey bitch owned by Tony, a full-time rabbit catcher from Burnley.. I originally met the guy at the Waterloo Cup, and he was raving about the sagacity and working abilities of his rabbiting gal, so I had to take a look. He was spot on about her and I said if he ever bred a litter, please keep me in mind...? When the bitch came in season, Tony told me to come on up and get a pup.. The Sire of Moocher was Gary Hosker's Bedlington Lurcher , Spud... Gary had pick of litter and offered it to me,...initially as a gift,..but when I trav
