  1. Hi , Loton Moocher..? No, Supreme Racing Champion, Country Music was already, done and dusted many years previous to Moon's day... Her sire was a wee Red dog called Mobek,.I wanted to use his Sire, a strong, determined dog name of Mo-Evil.. Unfortunately, he was totally unavailable, being a bit on the dead side...? Go careful now, all the best, OldPhil.?
  2. Not daft at all Allan...? A lot of whippet lines seem to throw up the 'prick eared' trait.... Obviously when hybridised with other types, this trait continues.... Personally, I prefer the rose shaped ear of the Greyhound,..but this is purely a cosmetic preferance and as you know,..looks mean nowt... All the best, stay safe, Old Phil.?
  3. Hi,..now listen up fellah,...I've never met you and have no problem with you.... I have not slagged your breeding off,.I would not do such a thing,...why would I ? You say I contacted you with regards to using your KC registered Whippet over my Cattle Dog hybrid? Well, that is simply not true... WE may have chatted about where I was heading with regards to my breeding plans for my hybrid Heelers,..but talking is not doing..At the time you say that I wanted to use your dog over my bitch , I was surrounded by Coursing KC Whippets and also purpose-bred, Racing Grews,...so, I
  4. A 30 mile walk would be impossible in much of Southern England....back in the day,..it was always, 'light on, light off'...anything else would get you in a fight or in the jail....Freelancing is a dangerous game, and folk that think it is all fun and games, need to give their heads a shake....?
  5. Not sure how far back lads want to go when talking about prices for jukels? I can only talk of the 60's through to the 80's and 90's ,...after that, I went legit, and things changed...? My crew was never competitive, so we did not require a world beater ,..we just wanted plenty of game to sell... Most dogs back then were £45 tops and Gypsy longdogs were the best buy for us,,...we did not look after them,..we knew no better...? Mind you, I do remember Fred Smith bringing FlyBye down from the North and his dad coughing up £100 for the animal.. Old Flash (FlyBye) was a Bi
  6. Les was a real nice guy,...he definitely knew the score....?
  7. I remember this guy....he used to phone me sometimes.... As an aside,...there is possibly no easier hybrid to produce than a Whippet, (KC or Hard-Blood) put over a Greyhound....Ive seen big heavyweight, 'Scratch Dogs' muller all sorts of critters,..it ain't unexpected,...it is, what it is..?
  8. Fabulous looking animals in top notch condition...I wish them great success...?
  9. Herders are often amazingly useful dogs for ferreting, especially when working amidst rough, heavily wooded old places.
  10. Hey Brother Ken,...take a quick peek on YouTube at the Hoof GP ...I know you will enjoy it.. I stumbled on this guy by accident,...ye know what,...I think I am becoming addicted..?
  11. Good head, serious looking gal....I wish you both good fortune..?
  12. ? In the wild, many animals have to find a way to compensate for, and somehow survive, terrible injuries,...they have no other choice. By the same token, not all creatures make the cut,..most succumb and die. As for lurchers with 'problems',...well,.. I have watched my own (and a few others belonging to fellow enthusiasts),..try to get by and do their job,...but in most cases it is patently obvious that their lives would be a whole lot easier, if they did not have a disability..I've never found that a dog which has lost one sense to have miraculously aquired another one? ..This woul
  13. I think most hunting enthusiasts enjoy watching any type of competent dog doing the job it was bred to do ?
  14. Hi,..I've owned and worked a couple of Bilaterally Deaf lurchers,...it was emotional..? For a working dog, not having full command of its faculties is a definitate handicap,.even more so if the malady causes the animal to be a bit on the nervy, spooky side. Schooling such animals is always going to be difficult, and as such it requires a whole lot of thinking, 'outside the box'.... Personally,...its an experience that I would not wish to repeat....?
  15. Lovely dog and a great bit of ground..?
  16. Adaptability and understanding is the hallmark of a good schooler of dogs, and chavies..?
  17. ? I USED to be a serious fecker over jukels,.and my gun came out of its holster like 'Quick Draw MacGraw"? Things are different now,..life moves on and dawgs, ferrets, killing whatever rises, and the constant pressures that the hunting game inevitably creates,..no longer rule me...? Far from awarding respect and kudos to similarly bred guys who think along the same lines as I once did,..nowadays I look them in the eyes,..and feel kinda sorry for them....?
  18. ? Back in the 1980's,..Kelpies were my first choice to 'improve' the contemporary rabbiting/mouching curs...? Lots of water has flowed under lots of bridges (and a whole lot of fine fish alongside it)...and my own path took on a different direction,..but, I have always favoured this type of herder. So much to say,...so many opinions, anacdotes and exciting events to relate,,.but possibly best left for another time and another place. ? Suffice to say,..I still like to hear, all the news from lurcher lads that have chosen to take , "a walk on the wild side"... Please, keep
  19. ? Have you tried contacting The Antiques Road Show...?
  20. Keep trying fellah,...there is nothing worse than letting a Jukel go to the wrong home,..but this horrendous situation is almost as bad as living with a lurcher, that you do not love. Maybe try some of the multitude of Facebook orientated, Lurcher and Ferreting sites. Some of these guys are just everyday Joe's and in no way, 'Hardcore Hunters' .? Corrispondingly, they are a tad more forgiving and chilled as regards owning a world beater... I wish you good luck ..?
  21. Hi Ferretman? Yes I have 150 snares fitted with Ash pegs and Wire Tealers,...all made for me by the Master Trapper,..my dear friend,.Mr Glenn Waters. PM me for price please...?
