  3. I remember when I was around 12 years old I would have my air rifle tied on to the Handel bars of my bike and was able to buy slugs for it and go down to the creak and shoot birds. If my kids done it to day they wouldn’t make it to the end of the street with out someone complaining and the police turning up. It’s amazing how times have changed. But my daughter still rides the bike that I rode and loves it and I am on 50 years old. Even when I was a kid going ferreting with my dad we would just pull up ons go through the fence and ferret and catch a few bunnies but today if you done that you w
  4. Nothing wrong with the cage if the ferret can’t break out you done a nice job. Nothing like getting satisfaction on building something from scratch. I have built quite a few over the years and carry boxes as well. Well done.
  5. Thanks elchapo for your help.
  6. Aussie whip it’s a great credit to your wife to feed the kits and to bring them up. Well done.
  7. Sorry for your loss they seem to become more family then hunters. My ferrets are part of the family mainly with the kids. Lost a few to old age and that was not easy.
  8. Elchapo I will take that on board I think that is a great idea and wouldn’t be hard at all the only reason I used the net as I had one in the shed and used it as a starting point. Terryd thanks for the video that is the knot that I have being using but people have being talking about Gromits and bands to attach the net to the poles. I have being looking on YouTube and on the internet on how they are tied together but unable to find a clear photo of it. And to everyone else thank you for all your advice. I will keep you posted on how I go.
  9. Well I have use a net for the bag which seems to work. The total length of the net is a 100 meters or 109 yards. But 55 yards long after the bagging this net is used for going around shipping containers which we do quite often. What would be a comfortable size net for a quick set as the netting is quite heavy in its set up and I have not yet added the poles. What is the most common length you guys use. This question is probably a personal preference I just thought I would put it out their.
  10. G day tomo thanks for your advise with the clove hitch knot on the poles are you able to put up a few photos on how it’s done as I have being using purse nets for years and new to the long netting. And also what do you use to hold up your nets.
  11. Great vid keep it up and enjoy on what you do as life is short live every day as if it’s your last that’s the way I am
  12. Well I have made start I will see how I go. So far I think I have done okay. A few touch ups on the welding and then put strap and bag on the bottom. For the bag I am thinking of using a fine mesh fishing net that they use on the scoop net. It’s all trial an error I am opened up to any ideas or changers.
  13. Every one has their connection with their ferrets one way ore another
  14. Look up on you tube Doug Craig you can learn bits and pieces from him and the other one is Simon whitehead he is the other one with a lot of videos brink back the JCB. When it comes to sending links I have no idea. Hope you find them.
  15. I call mine with the bop bop noise when I feed them. If you watch a few of sir bless videos he also does a similar thing it’s amazing on what you can pick up by watching some of these videos their is also another one by Simon whitehead called bring back the JCB where he locates his ferret at some crazy depth and bring in a front end loader it’s on YouTube the things people do to get a ferret. I have done quite a few shipping containers and rock gardens and so far been very lucky.
  16. The collies don’t seem to need a lot of training as I have noticed in Australia. I spoke to one farmer years ago who used them for rounding them up sheep. He said just be loyal to your animal and it will listen as it’s just in their blood. Good looking dog well done.
  17. I love it when people like yourself are happy to offer ferrets like that back here in Australia the people I know have problems of loading them and can take up to 6 months. I think half the problem is people are trying to get top dollar for them and after looking after them and feeding them for such a long time you are better to gift them. But I don’t think their are a lot of people in Australia that are into ferreting. The one problem I had last season was I wanted to turn my stock over and out of the litter my Jill had is 7 I ended up with 6 jills. And l was hoping to get 3 to 4 hobs as I ha
  18. It’s amazing on how times have changed when I was a kid very long time ago I remember dad only feeding them bread and milk. Not any more.
  19. By a bag of pre packed pet food from the butchers and look on the bag on where it comes from. Sometimes where the pre packed stuff comes from has where it was packed or a name on it. Never know that name may have a discount store. I found that on where I get my chicken frames from. On other one I found was the local markets that sell meat. The market I go to they try to sell of all their meat very cheap on a Saturday afternoon as they get a new delivery every Monday morning. I also find paying cash you will get it cheaper.
  20. Excellent well done. Love it.
  21. Thank you to all I am going to give it a go. I have a welder grinder and tools needed to make one I will give it a shot and I will keep you posted. Just one more question on how you tie the net to the grommet if someone could please post up a photo or to that would be great.
  22. I am sure it is with out a doubt all you guys use the stuff and not seen a bad word. But so is the price SUPERB when I get it sent over I will keep saving $$$$$ and soon should be right. All I would probably need is two long quick set nets around 75 meters long in total length. Unsure what that is in yards.
  23. I already have 2 golden retrievers that sleep all day from their had night of sleeping. The ages are 11 and 13. Yep very spoiled dogs by the wife and kids. May be one day but one of my mates I go with has 3 whippets and the female just recently had pups. 2 females 5 males. I will get some photos of them next time I am their and post them.
