  1. Modern farming practice has a huge part to play in decimation of hare populations......
  2. To right there Clint, your talking sense for once I'm only on the coffee so far today. At least you said SO FAR Daniel
  3. Personally i wouldn't entertain lamping a dog until its 10 months and then depending on the dog, some still can't put their legs together properly even at that age......
  4. Beautifally put together dog, if it has the heart you could be having lots of fun
  5. Perhaps it would but i doubt a good foxing dog crossed with a superb coursing dog would of knocked hares over as well as purely a coursing bred dog, its difficult to get the best of both worlds, dogs tend to specialise although the odd world beater will pop up. As for the American hounds, are they equally as good on jacks and yotes, or are they better on thevtoothy stuff? I don't know...........
  6. I know what your saying but remember at the moment you are training, not testing her

  8. Even pre ban i rarely bothered hares, i didn't have the dogs for them. I could of understood using the weather to give young dogs some confidence or filling the pot but its not for me ruunning them in the snow with dogs, even if legal.........
  9. Keep up the work BUT i wouldn't allow the family near the dog whilst eating full stop, only takes a second for the dog to snap and PTS and an injured child
  10. No in my opinion, pre ban MOST saluki types wouldn't entertain foxes regulaly, and by regularly i'm taking several a week, not once in a blue moon. Its wasn't easy to get a quality hare dog and fox dog, they would usually be more inclined to perform better on one species. A good saluki/grey x bull/grey would of been a suitable choice but its illegal here now so all we can do is discuss the past
  11. The cross is irrelavant, get it sorted before it bites a kid.......
  12. Some very good litters get bred occasionally by folks with cracking dogs who just keep themselves to themselves and don't seek or crave fame. On the other hand some of the known dogs and dogmen in the game are known because of their excellent lines and working ability, shame that some of them have prostituted their lines for ££££££££, luckily enough a few still stay true to their dogs and breed purely for graft.........
  13. Greyhound man this morning and the afternoon spent pushing wag around in his wheelchair on the fens

  16. wag is correct, nothing wrong with healthy debate but most threads turn into bitch fests. The breeding of Smithy has been well documented, its been published in EDRD and also Didriksons book country mischeif...........
  17. Been bitten a few times, it hurts.........
  18. Personally i would avoid anything heavily saturated with bull or saluki blood as i beleive they require some experience. If as you say he just wants to do some lamping and ferreting i would opt for a beddie/grey or a whippet/grey.............
  19. A wealth of wisdom concerning health

  20. Anybody who leaves edible quarry on the floor to rot is a messer, all edible quarry is utilised by us for our consumption or the dogs and ferrets, pre ban foxes were buried of left for farmer............
  21. Got two bitches here, both Nuttall blood, one 13mths, one 13 years, neither have bulging eyes..........
  22. Its not about looks mate, there are many good looking bull x's out there that can't graft for toffee. The pup looks healthy, good luck with it.....
