    Enjoy watching the dogs during the day but there is something relaxing about walking the fields on a dark and stormy night.......

    My first lamping dog was a pure collie, i also used him for ferreting, obviously the catch rates were low as the speed of a lurcher wasn't there but he had a good strike, stamina and was easy to work. I also got one of my shepherds going on the lamp, catch rates were less as he was slower than the collie but he also regulalry took feather......

    It isn't an easy question to answer, the pecentages and bone substance makes a huge variation, seen 25in dogs that weight 60lb and 27in dogs that weight 90lb and everything inbetween..........

    Seen a couple of that breeding work regularly, nice breeding for ferreting and on the beam....

    Baring injury i'll finish the season with the dogs that started it, never been into chopping and changing and the dogs do have to achieve a standard....mine, i kennel/feed/walk and work em so my opinion on them is the only one i care about......
