    Seems I got a relatively fair deal, £15:00 and did it straight away. Still not a bad earner for them though. If there needs to be a small fee, then the home office should set that fee, although they won’t because this doctors form is nothing to do with the home office. It’s all messed up. The whole process should follow a protocol from the home office. Same across the country, not another postcode lottery. But that’s just my opinion, I might be wrong.

    I had a skan chrono years ago, it worked well until it packed up. I’ve got a chrony f1 now, had it for years and used it for rifles and shotguns. Never had a problem with it other than bright sunshine.

    Ive got an evo and a panther, both good, they sent me a back bush machined to my spec next day free of charge. Brilliant to deal with??

    Yerr, the slugs are accurate, that’s one reason why it would be a shame if they banned lead airgun ammunition. I found the 18 grain jsb’s accurate running at 34/35ft lbs. Not sure about beyond 70 yards though. I don’t know if any decent non lead airgun ammunition exists. Probably not....

    Although I don’t agree with how the police can demand this and refuse to process your application without it, for £15 I certainly wasn’t prepared to kick a fuss up about it. My doctor just did it, charged me £15 and that’s that done. Not worth the hassle for me, it’s done, that’s it. I’m pretty sure it will be standard practice across the country within the next couple of years.

    With these new airgun slugs emerging and gaining popularity, I’m wondering what the future is regarding their continued use and production. A lot of investment has gone into these and now an eu proposal to ban all lead ammunition for airguns? As many of these new slugs are manufactured in the eu, could this ammunition be doomed before it’s really got started?

    I agree Ian, the problem is what happened to a friend of mine. His doctor refused to fill in the form and the police refused to process his application without it. When he told the police they advised him to change his doctor. When he ran out of time and was faced with putting his guns into storage with rfd, he had to go to another doctor. His application then got processed. The police follow guidelines which aren’t mandatory and that’s the problem. Guidelines are nothing more than a suggestion and aren’t legally binding and aren’t enforceable by law.

    Just got mine done, £15:00 but no hassle so worth it to me. As Gav says, they have no obligation to even do it, leaving the applicant with a problem. The home office should put some sort of protocol in place imo.

    If they might be spreading disease apply for an individual license to kill gulls and destroy their nests. It could be the only practical way to stop the problem as you have tried non lethal methods with no effect. Take photos to back up your application, if successful you could then legally shoot the offending birds with an airgun. This might be the only real solution?

    Nice Ben. What’s the situation regarding collection at countryman. Do they serve at the counter in the entrance? Could do with some ammo.

    Probably, they offered to build a crown to my specifications but I decided on the impact instead. Might still get a crown though?

    Livens have the barrel kits in stock Phil. They stock loads of fx guns, might be worth giving them a call, I’m sure they’ll be able to advise on your best options if you decide to go ahead.
